What should I know about Travertine Versailles pattern??

Hi All, I've driven myself crazy regarding this issue. We're doing all the flooring in the downstairs engineered handscraped & distressed (medium tone) EXCEPT for the wet areas of kitchen, utility and bathroom.

We've gone back and forth and the 2 will only touch at 2 pocket doors and 1 other door and can be butted up to one another. Installed on concrete slab. I'm in Calif and close enough to the huge "tile row" that my brain is fried regarding this issue.

Between some are Turkish or Mexican etc. we are decided on the "versaille pattern" for installation. There are too many choices and of course friends of our have Italian travertine - cappuccino (to die for!) but that is twice as expensive so sadly, it's a no go.

What say you all if you have it: similar stone colors amongst the different tiles or a wide variation between the stones? My style of decorating if that helps is cottage and country french.

Any advice is appreciated! Thx, Nicole
