My installer has installed Vida Cork Tiles and sealed the edges and tiles with 2 coats of Bona Traffic sealer. He then replaced the quarter round and then sealed the quarter round to the cork tiles with silicone caulk, around the whole bathroom, not just around the claw-foot tub. I did not expect that. My concern now is that the caulk will continually collect dirt and will become hard to clean and that it might eventually bond to the cork tiles and become difficult to remove/replace. I want to remove the silicone, but am worried about the floor being sealed enough. What is the best thing to do? advice?

We had cork floors for 18 years in kitchen, dining room, entry way and bathroom (same material/color). I loved it and it wore well. It was light colored and almost impossible to see dirt/hair on (we have a shedding dog). After awhile there were very slight raised ridges between tiles that probably was due to washing and letting water soak in. These slight ridges were probably only noticeable to me. When we remodeled, we didn't get cork because we felt like we needed a change and we couldn't find the right color of cork for our new cabinets. I would definitely get cork floors again for the areas you are considering. My preference would be for the floating installation. If you or someone decides to remove the floor, this would definitely be easier to take out. I have a friend who just installed a high end glued down cork floor. Can't remember the reason, but she also would get a floating one next time.

I've used several brands but mostly it's been WE Cork (http://www.wecork.com/products/floor-tiles/) for the old school look. I did a job recently using Expanko (http://www.expanko.com/heirloom/heirloom.htm) and it was quite nice. I've used APC tiles that have a thin decorative cork veneer over the amalgamated cork base (http://www.apccork.com/adhered_tiles_residential/) and another brand that already had the adhesive on the back and included a bucket of finish to apply after installation. Maybe it was Globus (http://www.corkfloor.com/tiles.html). These are the glue down solid cork tiles I'm referring to. The floating version generally isn't recommended for kitchen so I'd hesitate to use in a bathroom.
