Teragren built their reputation on the fact that they control the bamboo they use and thy way it is processed. Almost all other mfctrs buy bamboo from many different sources. Mohawk like others don't own any wood mfctg so all products come from outside sources. Thats not neccessarily a bad thing but the fact that you have a major name backing it helps. Realistically however probably 90% of wood complaints are site related or maintennce related and not covered by warranty.

Contractor is dealing with the subfloor now...he says it is structurally sound so we are waiting to hear his plan to properly deal with the subfloor. We are considering strand woven carbonized bamboo...it is gorgeous and to the untrained/undiscerning eye (I.e. family and friends and people that haven't obsessed over flooring for months) it really looks like quite nice...although it being dated at some point is certainly a concern to consider. Then again, the pergomax we are looking at is kind of rustic so that could become dated as well. Cost is similar for both (3.49 sq ft) so if we tear it up in 10 years its not a HUGE deal. What I like about carbonized bamboo is that it isn't finished, the color is throughout so we can sand it, put some clear coats on it and be done. Tile unfortunately isn't a realistic option in ohio other than kitchens, bathrooms, etc. we are definitely tiling the kitchen though! We will have to be careful about water spills/urine no matter which choice we make. We are looking at calibamboo, I read that they are good and reputable and less formaldehyde. And it looks just like the LL we fell in love with

As long as your air is not too dry and you buy engineered Bamboo you should be fine. If you use solid Bamboo you will probably have problems. If your air is too dry, any wood you install could be problematic. It can cause shrinking and cracking.

after calling around to a wide variety of flooring shops in the area (central Virginia) I have come to the realization that these adhesives are very hard to get. None of the local flooring stores stock these adhesives, but can order them, with a very expensive shipping charge (reasonable I assume because of the weight of the cans,, but still expensive). Not too many online sites that I can find that sell these adhesives. Lumber Liquidators does sell the Bostik glues and shipping isn't too horrible ("only" $90). I never realized finding adhesive was going to be so tough.
