Is there a 'room temp' fondue-like cheese sauce recipe?

Hi folks, for a book club get together I am hosting next week, I have chosen a few desserts & will have fresh fruit. I will also be making small bretzel rolls with a couple flavored mustards, as has been suggested (sweet & sour, raspberry - thanks!). Since I already have the desserts, I won't do a caramel dip this time, & will go with all "savory" choices for the pretzel rolls. Along with the mustards, I was thinking as a 3rd choice to go with some kind of cheese dip. However, fondue has to be kept warm, and I want everything to be easy to serve on the coffee table so I want it to be in a small bowl vs. the whole fondue pot thing. Other than the store bought fake cheese stuff in the chips isle, is there a cheese dip recipe that works at room temp, or by the nature of cheese does it start to make a film on the top or get clumpy? Thanks!
