Old Fur Coats
Comments (9)Check out Etsy. Do a search there for "vintage fur". It seems people are both selling vintage fur and also making things from it. Maybe list them there to sell, or contact one of the people who make things with fur to see if they want to buy them from you. It really depends if they are in good shape as garments. Maybe you can even combine the furs with each other or with other fabric or leather to make a coat that fits you. Comments (2)ebay is probably your best bet. Look up current and completed auctions for similar items. There is no duty to US citizens. I have bought several items from Canada on ebay with no charges. However, I bought my bathroom faucet, paper holder and towel holder from a site in Canada and recieved some kind of bill (export?) about a month later. I don't know what the difference is between a retail website and ebay that would have generated that charge. Finally, if you or your friend are not familiar with selling on ebay, it will be quite a learning curve. Not so much to list it, but to avoid the pitfalls of non-paying bidders or bidders who end up scamming you. (claiming the product never arrived or was defective.)...See MoreFur coat Insurance
Comments (31)Yes because, nothing shows signs of maturity like, "because I want to, and I can!" It doesn't matter how much your furs cost, it only matters that in your mind they are not worth insuring. Insurance on furs is fairly reasonable, and yet in your mind they are not worth paying insurance on. The only reasonable and non-childish assumptions are, you are either broke and shouldn't have your furs, you are a poor decision maker, or you don't consider them valuable enough to insure. I didn't want to call you poor or stupid. "I keep my furs with me all the time", that means when I go out in fur, I don't leave the coat in the coat room..." - NO IT DOESN'T...I am not sure if words are an invitation to read your mind on your homeworld, but here on earth words have meanings. Often words have multiple meanings, we try to add clarity by surrounding them with other words. However, sometimes when we string words together they really don't mean what they say. Sarcasm and wit are examples of when meaning is different than what the words alone mean. For example, when someone says that you drive around with your furs in the trunk, or any other part of the car, he may not mean it literally......See MoreSelling Aura in one coat
Comments (5)I think you are framing the question wrong. The real question should be, "How do I convince my customer that I am worth the extra money?". In theory, assmuming your time=money, based on fast recoat times and great hide, using Aura will actually save you money, especially on more transparent colors. So why even spend time trying to explain that you are paying $50-$100 more for paint on a job that you are charging $1,000 to complete. If you go that route, most consumers would think you are out of line to even bring it up. Instead, your focus should be on the quality of your work along with the quality of the coatings used. Call out the extras you provide along with the performance they will receive from the coating long after you have left to justify your price, not that you paid $X extra and so you have to charge them $X extra. Even though you may achive 1 coat coverage with Aura, always sell a two coat system on repaints. I think most consumers instinctively know (thanks to boards like this) that a good paint job requires two coats. Selling one coat, even at $50/gallon, sounds like a con job. Do your best and use the best and you'll never need to sell anything - your work will sell for you. Good luck!...See More- 17 years ago
