Tikanis - we added the Kayaking class and they are also offering a stand-up paddleboard session.

Hope everyone is doing better than last week.

I have to run right now, but will be back - that is a promise, not a threat.

Hi, Raeanne!

No, things were bad when I started the thread LAST week! LOL

Notice the new name? New life coming, hence the new name! I'm feeling so positive about my life at the moment.

Company's coming for Thanksgiving dinner. My kids and grandkids, and H's daughter (who doesn't care for me on a good day). I braved WM just now to buy a turkey and a ham, etc. Sad to say that I'm still not finished, but I ran out of energy! I'll go back in the morning after my dentist's appt. and finish up. Then, I'll spend the rest of tomorrow getting everything repacked and out to the garage for the movers.

All this dining out with my friends is getting tougher - emotionally and calorie-wise! Pray for me! :)

Hope more peeps check in this week.

Hi Guys! Well, WOW! Lots going on around here, for sure, this week! Dee-So sad to hear about your friend's nephew. That's the nightmare that's always in the back of parents' minds, whether in war or at home, traveling or as a result of an illness, the death of such a young life. No one is ever, ever prepared for it. I just don't understand the order of life sometimes. I stay reminded of this: Why do people have to die? So that others have a reason to live. Raeanne~ Of course, somewhere along the line, I missed that you were going to one of my favorite places: Nantucket. Where are you staying whilst you are there? Patti: CPS is a weird deal. They always say that the kids staying with parents is the best thing, until the situation is dire. I think it's hard enough being a teen, let alone having to wait for the state to take action. I could give everyone an earful about the foster care system, but you already know how I feel! I'm sad for those kids, darnnit! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo frustrating. Milkdud: Three cheers for power. We don't appreciate until it's not there, do we? :-) CONGRATS on taking care of yourself and getting everything done medically for yourself!!!! Many people put this stuff off TOO long. I was supposed to go in June, but am on the books for October now and my doc is expecting me to show up! Peggy~ Good luck at the counselor's place. It does a mind good to TALK to someone who HELPS. I always came out ahead when I went to a counselor! Wodka~ I am in your boat. I really haven't been able to stay on a plan to lose weight. I don't know what it is. I just can't keep the motivation going. I am getting to the point of extreme measures, very soon. I just have to figure out what exactly 'extreme measures' are! Marci~ I think about you and Lucas and his family every day. Your post brought back the stinging memories of 21-year old Brandon's death a few years back. Gone too young and nothing we can do. Well, I will be gone over the weekend; going off the rock to help my DD move to college. DH is coming too this time and G-parents are watching the flock for us. Should be a nail-biting time for me. But...we are having a dinner out w/ friends on Saturday on the mainland. DH and I haven't been out alone in 7-1/2 months. Kids! ---- Hey! Where's Jen? SO glad the punkinhead came through the surgery unscathed and is back to great health SO SOON! Your babies are SO cute, Jen! Okay, I better get packing!

Hello my friends! This week has been positive in many ways. Thank you for thinking about me! I've been 'offline' for forums and surfing alot for quilt ideas, christmas crafts and just mentally 'colouring with my crayons'. My dear great aunt told me I look fat (she does everytime I see her and it's funny actually - she's 96 so I give her lots of allowances for quirkieness). A young doctor came and was very unsuccessful trying to make a mold - geez at her age her jaw continues to shrink down, skin grows over. Now I have to call and arrange to have the senior doctor come and try again to make a mold. She has her lower teeth - I thought they were lost - but they are loose. It has literally been 5 months since I have seen her. I don't know where time flies to but it flies some times. Seeing her makes me feel closer to my Mom, in bloodline only. Mary is a sweet old gal. I should see her more often and I think I have been afraid to get close because over the years, as a great aunt, I've not really been a major part of her life. I would normally see her once or twice a year while growing up. She has another nephew - my uncle - he is extremely unwell and has never bothered with her at all. At any rate, I should pop in to see her a little more often. One day she will be gone and then it will be too late. Mary has made us family quilts, baked for us and carried on old family traditions because that is the life she knew. We talked about canning preserves on my last visit and gardening. Most of her 'marbles' are still with her at 96 - I should be blessed to do so well at that age. Yesterday I had 2 bank appointments for my Mom's estate with my sister that I don't get on with. I have been learning and working on 4 things: don't take it personally don't assume be impeccable with your word do your best By learning not to assume I did not toss and turn all night worrying about what my sister might have to say during our bank appointments. She is not speaking to me and is in her own world. Too bad. I keep trying to be polite but I get short, rude answers. Her body language still exudes anger, superiority (I think) and negativity. I feel sorry for her. When we left the bank she did not thank the person nor shake their hand - just left. I was embarrassed by her behaviour given she is now a 'director' in our federal government. My parents never taught her manners such as this. The banking officer appeared nervous - maybe because my sister was so short with her answers, seldom smiling and just needing a slap up the head at 46! I shook their hand, thanked them and smiled - I also rolled my eyes at one point. Couldn't help that. Unreal. So I continue to try to be a better person. I don't have to worry about letting go of her in my life because she is shutting out the communication unless necessary. Ah well, that is her journey. I hope she finds happiness somewhere. Today I'm sitting in bed - clothing all over the bedroom. Pulling out summer clothing for laundry and packing and restoring my fall/winter wardrobe. Fall cleansing and watching my dvd set of The Pallisers (Masterpiece Theatre). I love the period costumes and saga. One day I hope to purchase the north american region of The Duchess of Duke Street. I have the UK and can watch it on my laptop but it's not the same as TV. Also I have homework from my shrink - complete a quiz on depression (I'm feeling more and more positive about life again) and think about what I would like to get out of my future visits together. I've lucked in meeting a doctor who finally makes me feel comfortable. So, if I can sort a few things out in my head - one day, one step at a time, I am hoping to return in the right frame of mind for my fall/winter dietary clean-up. I've gained about 8 pounds but that's fine. It will come off when I'm ready to take more care. Anyhow, I should get going - I can't see my bed right now for clothing and I should get laundry going. Sunday is our cheapest rate day for electricity - laundry. Will catch up on the posts later! LOL to all my pals, Peggy

Good Saturday afternoon from wet/rainy and cool (54 F.) Texas. I was up at 4:30 this morning, out of the house by 5:15, and heading to the Houston Zoo at 6:30 for St. Jude's 1st annual Thanks & Give walk. We had 300 of the 500 registered people show up in the pouring rain today to walk for St. Jude. I was shivering and shaking working registration, but it warmed my heart to see so many turn out and turn in huge amounts of money they'd raised for walking. I met Emmanuel, a precious 8-yr. old boy who lost his left eye to neuroblastoma last year. His 'fan club' was there to walk with him and they all dedicated their walk to him. I worked the bib dedication table where people filled out their "I am thankful for....." bib before pinning it on for the walk, and I was really touched by many of the dedications. Afterwards, the volunteers moved everything over to the 'after-party' where everyone ended up to have breakfast and receive their incentives for walking. I think a nap is in my near future, but I had to check online before doing that. Donna, I hope you can start posting more often. Pray for 'uneventful' vibes! Suzanne, maybe you'll sneak in a ride today after finishing your chores? And, what a cute message from hubby! Hey, BJ! I've been missing you. Hurry back and get the wonderful support you've been needing. Maddie, you howl the HB song better than anyone I know, girl! Well, a nice warm bed is calling me, so y'all be good!

HA! I am still here! The party was terrific. The DJ was fab and played 2 of my requests before the kids arrived to get me in the mood to party. I danced a few times and the teens all laughed at my "80's style" dancing. WHAT? The kids had pizza, pop, cake, and they played a lot of pool and danced. The house was easy to put back together and DH is calm once again. His buddy came by in the middle of the party and took him away for beers, so he was very mellow when he got home and the party guests were gone. Besh, I received STUFF from Amazon Marketplace Music. Love it. Thanks for the suggestion! Did you get the picture trail link from anyone yet?????? I'm listening right now to the Pushing Tin sound rack. It's good. I love the song "He Pushes Tin" -- reminds me of flying! I could watch the air traffic sequences from that movie all day long! Am I geekish or not? Tonight, we're watching the "English Patient" for about the 5th or 6th time. Love it. NHSuzanne~ Your shopping spree sounds like fun! I like to shop alone. And I rarely go. I keep thinking I'll go when I'm a size amaller - but it ain't happenin'. Tikanas~ Did you get your winter garden planted?????? Did DS help???? Well, I sculpted a foot slipping into a turkish slipper today. I think I'll make it into a pencil holder-the ankle part being the holder. Only 6 more hours of class to go, and I'm finally getting the hang of it. LOL! Lynn~ Thanks for filling out the questionaire. I am going to use it! Joanne and Patti! HAVE FUN! It's good to hear from both of you---now, don't be strangers to us! We want a report and pictures from you guys! Raeanne, dear one, yes, I am doing laundry---TONS of it! I absolutely have to get my laundry room in order. It's got too much bedding stored in it. I keep asking the family to go through the stash and help me get rid of blankets, comforters, etc, but other things come up all the time. I have been getting rid of old clothes, and other stuff. DH is pretty darn thrilled about that, as you can imagine. If you and your DH decide to go to Alaska, build in a few days in Seattle for fun at my place! Amy~ I am going to email you about a card or print I need. Are you still painting and/or photo-shopping on a regular basis? I hope, hope, hope so! Okay, now, MONDAY. Back to the idiot-proof diet and drinking water! And I am going to get on a regular exercise program, blocking out time for it this time. My in-laws are ALL coming for Christmas and I want to be able to wear what I want and feel fine about it. I have a month. Plus, the doc wants to check on me again this month. I might have that procedure I was talking about done at spring break. All for me, nighty night!

Carolyntx - love your positive thinking - it really works! I am glad that H's daughter will be outnumbered by a lot of people that love you on any day.

I know this is a busy week for everyone, but do yourself a favor and put your feet up for a few moments and check-in.

Raeanne, thanks for posting girlfriend weekend info.

This is a crazy week for all. Good news - the insurance company has decided to replace all of my carpet and padding!! I won't have it in time for Thanksgiving but should have it in time for Christmas.

In case I don't hop back on again this week I wish you all a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Even if I don't check in as regularly as I want to I am glad to have all of you in my life.

Dee - Hope your BP continues to behave itself. Keep us updated.

I love to give books as Christmas gifts, can anyone recommend any new books that they have enjoyed.

Raeanne, thanks for asking....my BP and heartrate has been normal or below normal!! ZUMBA was fun last night, and I kept up with everyone without obvious problems. My worrying (especially at the office) is quite another thing!!! Cannot wait for the Dec 3 Stress/Echo tests to give me answers!!

I think we missed NHSuzanne's birthday on November 20th. My bad! I had my head wrapped around the funeral and preschool and just now remembered.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! It's warm enough to have the a/c on and the ceiling fans running. Weird weather, but when I drive up to Dallas on Saturday morning, I'll be driving into winter weather so I hear. Cool!

Maddie, Bob's daughter graduates from nursing school in MS on the 15th of December. She's so excited. I'm really proud to know someone as smart as you and as dedicated as you because I know nursing school isn't easy.

I've had some kind of stomach virus the past 2 days, so my eating is really off. I'm holding off until the morning to do any cooking for the family and I'll hope for the best. All my kids will be here tomorrow, and I'm really happy about that. Bob's thrilled to have them coming and to have his daughter here all week.

Hello? Hello? Hello?

Confession time? My BIL's daughter brought the most wonderful, creamy veggies to THanksgiving Dinner last night. Roasted then sauteed brussels sprouts and mushrooms finished off with cream and a bit of butter. OMG; to die for!!!!!

Did a bit of shopping today and was thrilled to get all the little children on my list finished....in Michael's of all places! Seemed everything was on sale, no crowds or lines at 9am, and a 30% off entire purchase in my hands. Feeling very cocky this afternoon.

Hope everyone is well. My BP is normal and fairly steady (only goes up if I think too long before taking a reading!)

CarolynTX~We have been here since about the 14th of November. We already have our TX license plates, registration, inspection sticker, & are waiting for those driver's licenses to come in. I feel so lucky b/c I was able to get my old one back. I remembered all this time about you getting yours back when you moved back from MS.

I've had bronchitis the last 2 or 3 days & our little Morgan who will turn 1 on Dec. 3rd is really sick too. She has a fever & they had to cancel her birthday party for tomorrow. :(

Happy day after Thanksgiving, y'all!

I'm leaving early in the morning for Dallas to complete my apartment leasing, but I don't have to furniture shop after all because I went online at Rooms To Go and made my purchases today before noon and saved about $700!!! I'd already checked out things at a store an hour away, so when I got an email from RTG yesterday offering discounts, I knew I had to act fast. Only downside is that it won't be delivered until Dec. 7th, so my sister and I will just have to decorate around imaginary furniture on that Monday before it comes! LOL

Ate out twice today, but I still managed to be fairly non-piggy. Once I move, it will be so much easier I know. These farewell lunches are precious, but tough on the willpower!

Patti, hope you're soon on the mend. I hate being sick during the holidays. No fun!

I'll be checking in here when I return Sunday. Y'all have a wonderful weekend!

NH Suzanne - Happy belated Birthday! I hope it was a great one - you deserve only the best. Thanks for sharing your animal stories with us and the most gorgeous photos throughout the year. I will toast you and all the new and exciting things coming your way.

Tikanis - The lake is going to be cold that time of year, but the instructor assured me there would be no falling in the lake. They can only accommodate 10 women, so if you really want to do it, let me know and I will hold a spot for you. They may include a 2nd class if it fills up quickly.

Before any of you make reservations at the hotel talk to me. There are several lodging options and I will speak to the hotel directly and see what they can offer. I may be able to get a condo that would sleep 5-6 - of course we may have to pull straws to see who get's the pullout sofa LOL.

Dee - we eat brussels sprouts like that often, except you first cook up some chopped pancetta, add garlic and then the brussels sprouts, finish them off with some cream. That was one of my favorite Thanksgiving dishes this year.

Patti - hope you are feeling better.

CarolynTX - hope all went smooth with the apartment.

Maddie - thanks for doing the list again. Please send me your address when you get a chance. I don't think I have the correct one.
