Police-escorted...SAND?!?!?

I may have linked this b4...apologies if so!

This is what we may be up against again in 2011. Probably won't be this frantic, but it's too chillingly close...March 2009. Main routes had to be closed-off, and Police-escorts of sandbag-laden semi's rolled along, night and day.

In an ODD way, it's sorta funny. Police escorting....SAND!

What's funny is that someone took the time to film it.

Can you imagine how long it would have taken for those trucks to get through town if they had to stop at all the lights?

I live in a small town and the river is going to crest this afternoon after heavy rain yesterday. There will be crowds headed to the city dock to watch. I plan to take my camera.

Sounds kinda weird, but I would've filmed it too!

Stuff like that fascinates me, since you hardly EVER will see that in a lifetime. It was kind of a controlled panic situation, with a hospital being evacuated, and a couple Nursing homes.
It was obviously the only way sandbags could get to the frontlines in time. Pretty surreal!

PS...Fargo MAY have hit 2.5 million sandbags palletized today!!

Faron, at first I was LOL then realized why it had an escort. First, the sandbags are like gold during a flood, and secondly, imagine how deadly they could be if some bozo ran into the truck causing the load to spill out?

I was driving about a half mile from an oil truck carrying huge and very long pipes, and suddenly all the pipes got loose and fell to the road in our downtown! Thank God I wasn't closer. I'd have been smushed!
