WW Program - Mon. 11/7 - Sun. 11/13

Good Monday morning to everyone. I hope we all have a good week ahead! I really slipped this past Saturday and ate way too much of the wrong things, but I got back with the program on Sunday and I'm ready to start the week now. I've already done some exercises this morning since I won't be able to walk this evening after work.

Let's all work hard this week to eat healthy and exercise!

Thanks for starting the new thread. I didn't do too badly over the weekend. I made myself a sort of Thanksgiving meal. Roasted a small chicken, sans stuffing. Cooked whole wheat noodles in the broth. For dessert later on I revamped a pancake recipe so that it came out to 1 pt....small but nice. Used spray Parkay and Lite syrup on it so it was only about 2 pts finished product. I often work/re-work recipes to make them more point friendly. Figure if I'm in this for the long haul, I might as well make it all as palatable as I can.

Shirley, I agree with the work/reworking recipes. There are lots of ways to cut out fat and add more fiber to many recipes.
The WW program has really helped me to become more aware of what I put in my mouth! Since I am a junk food person, this way of eating is much healthier for me!

I went to a meeting last night at Mamacita's restaurant. Hmmm great Mexican food (which is very high in fat!). I had to have one of their great margaritas with a small bowl of tortilla soup. I don't even want to know how many points was in it. I'm glad that meeting is only once a month!

Speaking of deserts - I have been eating lots of fruit and berries with a little lite cool whip on top. Eat it slowly and enjoy every bite.

Looks like we're all having a busy weekend! I'm happy to report my weight is shifting down - I've recovered from last weekend's visit with my pal and all that food. I've moved from 145 to 143/142ish. Quite happy with that. Slow and steady is my goal. I will stop losing when my body tells me to. I'm focusing on proper portions and healthier food choices. I figure I will settle on a weight when my food balances with my body. Anything around 130-135 is my goal to maintain. Anything lower than 128 I have to be careful because that is a teenager weight and not healthy for me at this age. Too easy to get sick and have little to help me recover from. Besides, I don't do 'thin' - I'm a curvy build and thin looks awful on me. Got there once in the military and everyone told me I looked gaunt. If I were born to be tall fine, but I'm not. My goal is to be able to garden without back spasms and be able to jolt up a couple of flights of stairs without losing my breath. Maintaining a healthy weight is the biggest challenge, not the weight loss. So I plan to be here for some time to come. We're off to the in-laws this weekend. DH's brother is moving back out west after a year of unsuccessfully seeking work in mapping. He's been working 'online' from his original job out west but since nothing has happened in this area he's moving back. He's been living in his parents basement for all this time - not funny. Time to go. I'll miss him but glad we had the time to know him better. Also going to drive a wee bit down a county road tomorrow to practice my driving. Looking forward to that too. I don't do highways because I am not comfortable making turns at higher speeds yet. Take care, I will try to get online this weekend. Cheers, Peggy

QOD: Raeanne, make that TWO of us who have never tasted that green bean thingy! I love all kinds of veggies, but will not touch dark turkey meat....too much string or whatever in that leg and thigh! lol!!! When I was a kid, we had antipasti, lasagna w/ all the Italian meats, 3 hours later the turkey and trimmings were presented, and 3 hours after that we had nuts, fruit, and pie w/ coffee. An entire day of eating...no lie. The Alka Seltzer would fly back and forth that next day. We had a wonderful time in Smithville...got some things in the small shops and had a leisurely dinner in the Inn. My sister's DFIL and DMIL joined us too. Friday morning, my sis and I took DN and her friend to the Philadelphia Museum of Art (they had a college art assignment). I loved it, as there was a large gallery of impressionists displayed and lots of Asian items from B.C.!!!! I could have stayed all day. MENU (for Saturday---Thurs and Fri are too painful..lol!) B old-fashioned oatmeal and a handful of globe grapes before walking 3 miles around the lake whooo hooo to me! S 20 dry-roasted peanuts and cup of fat-free, sugar-free Swiss Miss L large salad with 2 oz ham and slice of ww bread S starting picking at leftovers from my sister, so I moved away from the kitchen! D I'm making a low-fat version of baked ziti with salad (topped with Good Seasons' fat free dressing) Amy, Jen, Besh---good to see you all posting here this weekend. Make it count! I'm in for that Twinkie Diet too BJ :-) Ivamae, how is Benny feeling? Suzanne, ((hugs)) coming your way. I have been where you are and it's no fun. Easier said than done but try not to stress. I know the right thing will come along. Raeanne, that sounds great. I am really looking forward to the Girlfriend Weekend. At least if we Zumba then Yoga none of us will have showered so we shouldn't stand out among each other :-) My flood - doing a small load of laundry Monday night, heard nothing unusual. Went to move the clothes to the dryer and OMG - water everywhere!! We tried mopping it up but there was way too much. Turns out that when the washer drained the water backed up and came out of the pipe. The plumber said the line was clogged and blew everything out. All works fine now....my 3 year old carpet. The water saturated my hall, part one bedroom and part of that room's closet, part of the dining room and part of the living room. Remediation people arrived about 17 hours after flood. We STILL have huge fans blowing. They expect to clear out tomorrow. MY concern is mold - how can the padding be dry? Remediation guy is getting on my nerves though. He says there will not be mold. I asked if he could give me that in writing....of course he can't. I am calling insurance company again tomorrow - I think we need an adjuster to visit and take the carpet and padding sample. I might just call them when I meet this guy tomorrow afternoon and put them on speaker. aaarrrggghhh!! Raeanne, good news is my kitchen is fine, just cluttered with everything that was in wall unit and book cases. I will keep you posted on my flooding saga. It's chilly here now - was out tonight and smelled a fireplace - love that smell. More good news - down 1.8 at WW weigh in tonight!

Maddie~ Forget about the rant...nhsuzaane is right..We ALL have had rants here. It helps just to type away and press "post"--very theraputic. Plus, let yourself enjoy the support. And now, I'm going to have a little rant of my own... Maddie, On the job...I have no doubt you like (maybe even love) your job, but there is way too much "job" and not enough of you. Start looking for another position. Even if the auditors find you need more manpower, the company still has to find the funds and get the authorization for it; that could take a long, long time. Right now, it's not a priority for them to help you even learn your job...why would they be motivated to get help for any time soon? Start job hunting now. And BTW, you don't have to find a job at what you went to school for---find something you LIKE---what happened to your auctioning dreams? Or real estate? When we toured that KY mansion together, you really impressed me with your vision on property renovation! You would be a gem in the customer service end of a high-end real estate biz! And you know so much about the history of KY! And---you take on WAY too much in all of these jobs you've had. Take some time and find a job that fits YOU. Enough of this Super-Woman-Set-Me-Up-For-Failure-Cr@p. You are a very,very nice person, but you are taking on too much---because you're TOO nice! You do not have to save the company---just find a job, work as hard as you can, follow your job description, and save money for pleasure vacations and retirement, and BE YOURSELF! Maddie, everyone enjoys being around you. I loved every single minute I spent with you. Your humor, your easy smile, your warmth, and your perky red-headed personality should land you whatever job you want. Please ask yourself if what you're doing is really what you want to be doing...or is it just what you trained for and you don't want to "waste" that $ and education. Perhaps this is why you choose jobs that are so difficult. Do you really want to be doing what you're doig??? People change over time and maybe you should think about your OTHER talents and find a "fun" job to do for a while-one that take advantage of your PERKY personality, your persuasive manner, and natural good looks-instead of your brain! There is nothing wrong with *NOT* having a brainy job! Look at meeeeeeeeeeeeee! I CAN FLY! (and feel like Peter Pan half the time!) Sorry this is so long, but I really think you deserve to be happier. It makes me sad to think your employer doesn't appreciate you or give you the type of working experience you deserve. If the last person was miserable and now you're miserable, buy a paper at lunch and start LOOKING for a new job...try looking in the customer service ads...or real estate! Today was my weigh-in day and I managed to lose Â½ lb. Not as much as I was hoping for, but I'm not surprised because I ate more than I should several days this past week.
I am managing to exercise every day now and I think that will help me keep more focused.

Check in everyone so we can see how you are doing!

I really was a good girl last week, but still managed to put back on the quarter lb I'd lost the previous wk. I was momentarily disappointed as that kept me at 'maintenance' overall again, but I soon got over it. I started this long, slow journey a year ago the end of May. The way I look at it is if I hadn't started and kept on this journey, I'd not have lost what I have so far, but would probably have gained at least an additional 20 lbs.

Glad to hear that you lost, Maryann.

Congrats MaryAnn--that is 2 sticks of butter!!

I weigh on Thursday---hoping to at least stay the same--been a topsy-turvy kind of week so far.

Susy, I had forgot about the butter comparison! That always helps me when I've lost a small amount!
I have one more week at home and then we will be riding down into Mexico for a bike rally. We eat all meals out of course and drink a few drinks. So I will really have to watch myself and not overdo. Then....the next week is Thanksgiving! But, no matter what, I am going to stick with the program most of the time! LOL

Weigh In wasn't a good thing this morning---up 2#--- more than I thought I would be, but I know the reason-- so will try to correct it.

I'd forgotten about the sticks of butter comparison too. When I tell people I have another 20 to lose, they always try to say I've lost enough. Perturbing at times as I currently weigh what I did the day my youngest DD was born. I just quietly tell them that my legs/knees/lower back might improve if I'm not having to carry this extra two 10 lb bags of potatoes around all the time. The visual gets them every time.

Sorry about your gain, Susy, but I love your attitude.

MaryAnn, it sounds like a fun trip and I know you'll do fine, even if you over-indulge some. Just remember, you have to come back and tell us about the trip.
