Happy Saturday!!! Yes I'm seed planting now - but in different ways. I cannot plant until after the last frost day - normally in Ontario Canada it's the 3rd weekend in May. Right now I am starting some stuff to grow indoors - even a few tomato plants. I have ample south facing windows. Some of my veggies are to share with friends too. Things like some of my slow growing flowers - lavender - I like to start a huge tray indoors. Since the onion seeds are from big onions, I'd be lucking in spring to have small bulbs from the seeds. The herbs will eventually go outside. My next venture is using water jugs I saved from the summer to do 'Winter Sowing' - had lots of success with that over the years everywhere I lived. Trudi who started it all now has her own website and has moved on but left terrific FAQs at GW. My other focus for this week is challenging others to tackle a box a day to declutter (it's on the KT). Makes this unpacking a little more fun. Misery loves company! LOL. Last night we had friends over for dinner and cards. We had a riot. I had waaaaay too much fun. Let myself go too much but mentally it was all worth it. Haven't laughed like that in some time. Besides laughter burns energy. I'm carrying on today. Did not get my cook ahead done because DH and I spent the afternoon giving this place a good cleaning over (felt fantastic afterwards). My new friend Catherine last night mentioned a nearby town (she lives just outside) is starting a quilt club. She's interested and so am I. We're going to check that out. While we go quilting our boys will enjoy male bonding. I'm getting more social activity in the country than I had living in the city. You can take a bus in the city to a shopping venue or park but that's not socializing. This is better than prozac! Besides I have a ton of quilting magazines I might find good homes for. So lets really get out there an enjoy this weekend. My continued love and support to all of use - my arms are open for sharing hugs. Take care everyone - let's breath, find something beautiful in every day. Today we take another step forward, together. Whoooo Hoooooooo! Peggy

I am back and fully rested and tan. We had the most gorgeous weather. I actually read 3+ books - I finished Eat Pray Love, I read a book by Ellen DeGeneres (it was like her monologues), Water for Elephants which I totally loved, and The Red Tent - which I also totally loved. I quickly went through the posts and want to send (((((HUGS))))) to all. ((((((SUZANNE)))))) I am so sorry to hear about Blue - I had hopes of him hanging in there longer. I know how much all your animals mean to you, but there seemed to be a real bond with you and Blue. (((((DONNA)))) I am so sorry about your sister, but happy to hear your mom is getting some help. I know it is very frustrating for you to be supportive under these circumstances. You deserve to be able to live your own life and don't ever feel like you are a bad person - we all know you aren't. Patti - ((((HUGS to you and Dave)))) - I am so sad that he still has to struggle with his past. Marci - cute Ground Hogs Day story. I got to see Joe Namath when I was about 18. He was going to visit an orphanage near where I lived and his limo pulled into town - a very odd site back in those days. He had the window opened and waved to me. I used to love him, so he totally made my summer. I just read the magazine New York and found out he was from PA. Besh/BJ - I just heard about a book called "Does This Clutter Make my @ss Look Big" - LOL - I have to get it. BJ - when do you leave? I hope I didn't miss you. Glad to see you posted - I know your plate was running over. Whenicit - I will keep my fingers crossed that the house is sold. This vacation was my motivation - I hated looking at myself in my bathing suit each morning! Dee - Saratoga in the Spring sounds wonderful to me! I can't wait. My DD introducted me to a drink called Caparenia - very much like a mojito and very much my new favorite drink. I got a kick out of your emails - thanks. Here is the List so far - if you are not included and want to be, please let me know. I will match up the names on Tuesday: Unbirthday List Marci Patti Raeanne BJ Dee Donna Suzanne Milkdud Maddie Hello to all that I missed - but my laundry is calling me and it is Sunday. Missed you.

First off.... WHERE ARE YOU, MADDIE??????? YOU MISSED YOUR PARTY!!!!! HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY --- good or bad.... CHECK IN, GIRLFRIEND! Marci! Loved, loved, loved the gif! How cute and appropriate! Then... I have to thank everyone for answering my plea for help. There are such great ideas here when everyone puts their heads together. Besh, to answer your question, there are no funeral homes on the island, although there IS a cemetery. The off-island funeral homes handle everything and they're FAMILY run (their emphasis, not mine). After the suggestions here though, I got my guts up and called one and asked to them about some p/t employment when I move. The manager hasn't called back, but the woman who took my call was very nice and thought maybe something could be worked out. Meanwhile, ever busy, I took John's suggestion, and brainstormed. I think, maybe, I can work for my DH, promoting him (good for the both of us, no doubt!) and run a sort of store front, will/estate/funeral event planning biz. Many people on the island have life celebrations and I could get into that. I know a caterer from when we had the restaurant there, and a few musicians. My DH's mom does video production, so she has connections to making DVDs. And, I could work a little flying into it by renting a plane and offering to spread ashes. And I could fly to a mainland job on weekends, since the funeral home isn't too far from the airport. Anyway, like Besh & Raeanne said, I think I will continue my path and get the license. And, as taking NHSuzanne's advice, I will accept and enjoy the freedom of possibly being unemployed for a while. Kayaking, here I come? Maybe a job at one of the MANY kayaking tour places! So, thank you everyone, once again. Combining everyone's ideas has made me look at the move in a totally different way. It'll all be okay in the end...if it's not okay, it's not the end! :) Raeanne~ My in-lawas will visit at the end of the month. So company is coming here too! QOD for everyone: HOW DO YOU DECLUTTER YOUR ROOMS? John~ 1. Can you face your desk so it's facing OUT of your cubicle---so she can't see your screen --- and so you can see her coming? 2. If that's not possible, perhaps you have room to hang a large mirror above your monitor or on the wall next to it, even propped on an easel, so you can see behind you always (good feng shui). Then she can't sneak up! 3. Next, get a couple of corn plants (tall and straight) or potted bamboo and stick them on each side of your cube - that'll give her less room to stand behind you and kind of close off your office to intruders. 4. Then, with double sided tape, attach an small octaganal mirror on the back of your office chair. Good conversation piece and it'll reflect HER big, fat nose getting into YOUR business. 5. Then, every time she asks a questions, say either, "Why do you ask?" or "Pardon?" or "Say that again please?" In a VERY nice voice. When people are asking insulting or nosey things, asking them to repeat the question forces them to rethink, over and over again, what they're saying. 5. As well, if she gets excited over things outside in the parking lot or elsewhere in the building, just tell her, "Hey, if it concerns you that much, maybe you should call the police, security, or the FBI." 6. Go to an antique store and get some old pictures i frames and velcro them to your cubicle, then make up family stories about them. If you need pics of your SS sisters, just email us and we'll send the raciest ones we can find, right, girls? When Miss Buttinski asks about a phone call, tell her it was one of your 'relatives' calling, and if she has any ideas on how to stop the chafing marks Depends-brand diapers cause. 7. Then make up more huge lies about your family pictures. Keep changing the pictures until you have such an extended 'family' that absolutely no one, not even you, can keep track of them all. 8. Then start hanging pictures of babies up. Tell her these are your illegitmate children from your WILD daytime romps and you're working nights just to keep up with the bills. This should give the office 40 yr olds something to talk about for some time. 8. Then, if she still bugs you, ask if she would like to sit with for breaks, since you can't possible socialize as much as she likes on company time. It sounds like she's clueless and you're mysterious and they just want to get to know you. Girls bond by sharing secrets and talking endlessly. So she probably just wants to get to know you. Don't forget to hang a sign up that says, "I'm free to gossip at 10pm; I'll be awake and able to pay FULL attention then!" And good luck, brother! I'm thinking of you! DeeMarie~ I would say "UmmmmmmHmmmmmmm" loudly over and over again and NOT ask any questions about anything she says. If you keep doing that, she'll think about it afterwards and maybe get the message! Maybe!

BJ - (((((HUGS)))) to you and dad - I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. The light is shining bright! Maddie - sending light to your friend Bill. NH Suzanne - I have bought crystals from eBay with much success. I don't have any hanging, but I have them strategically placed throughout my house. I put a beautiful piece of Rose Quartz in the Relationship area and a Amethyst Cluster candle holder in the Prosperity area. I have some large Quartz crystals sitting on the ledge of my windows over my front door. I couldn't come up with a way to have the crystals hang from my ceilings and look good with my decor. Water fountains are great too, but I hate the upkeep of them and figure I am better off with no fountain, than to have slimey water in them. John - I find that when I Feng Shui I also "clear" my mind and that is a big part of making things happen. I'm glad that things are looking up. Dee - I'm assuming this is another cruise - where to this time? Are you going for a Guiness World Record? I think you may be the title holder already. I have been busy with rehearsals for our annual Variety Show - as usual this is the time that I wish I hadn't volunteered (come to think of it, I didn't). But next week it all comes together and I have fun. I better get some work done. I have had a lot of pleasant distractions this morning and now I don't want to work LOL.

Hi all!

Thanks for all of the good wishes! :) I can't believe that this past year has went by this fast. And I can't believe that I've been here for 12 years. Gad, time flys, and I've enjoyed this board so much! You all have beome like my family to me, and I can't imagine not having you all. :)

My life has been interesting during the past 12 years. A lot of good, some bad, but always the fun. Some things have changed for the better, some for the best, and some not so good. Along the way, I've lost some dear people, and have met many, many more, and have been blessed in so many ways. I've made lots of mistakes, and learned from them, and I've fallen down quite a few times. But I've always gotten up, and many times with a hand from one of you all.

And now, I'm very happy to say that I've gotten accepted to my first choice of nursing schools, and I will start in January. (X) (X) (X) (X) (X) (that's me doing cartwheels!) I feel like I've come home, and for the first time in decades, I'm doing the right thing. Even before I graduated from college the first time, I knew was making a huge mistake, but I was stuck. I'd worked too long, and paid too much not to do what I studied, and so for the past 2 decades, I've forced myself to be someone that I wasn't. I've tried different things--auctioneering and the jewelry, and they were fun, but they still didn't fill what was missing in me. (Yes, I still auction from time to time, and we still sell the jewelry.) I feel at peace now, and I hope and pray that this is what I was meant to do all along.

So, celebrate with me, please. I have given it all, and all of the studying, the long days and late nights have paid off. I got one of 20 places out of 400+ applicants. And in January, the real fun begins.

I can hardly wait.

Love and hugs,

Maddie

Thanks you all! I'm still dancing!

And I got the acceptance letter for my second choice today. And now I'm in a quandry. It's the same school, but at different campuses. The one that is my first choice is 50 miles from here, but the professors and staff are soooo nice. They really seem to care about you, and the labs are really, really nice. I took a lower level class there over the summer, and really fell in love with that place. We did stuff in that class that we've doing this semester in an upper level class, and I have such a good, intuitive feel about there. My second choice is 11 miles from my house, and it's extremely crowded, and the nursing program is cut-throat. I've met the associate dean, and she's seems nice, but I've met one of the nursing facility, and she.is.evil. (And I've heard that from others, too, so it's not just me being hateful.) My only concern about my first choic is the drive. We get some nasty weather here in the winter, and i am afraid that I'll get stuck in town, and can't make it to school. Unfortunately, the first choice is not near a major interstate, but it's off of a fairly well traveled state highway. The second one is right off I65.

Any thoughts? I just have a good gut feeling about my first choice, but the logical (and way less gas money)choice would be the second. Should I talk to the dean/advisor at my first choice? I don't want to sound like a problem, but this is a huge decision, and I want to make it a right one, both for the school and me.

Tikanis, is there a good time to call you? I could use some advice! I'm in EST, so I'm 3 hours ahead of you.

Thanks again! I'm so excited; I just can't hide it. :)

Hugs,

Maddie

Maddie~Congrats on being accepted to Nursing School. If anyone deserves it, you do! Twelve years is a long time & you were the 1st one that stepped up to help Dave & I. I remember that so vividly. I still appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Hope everyone else is doing all right. Have a safe weekend. :)

Maddie! Congrats! My advice would be to TAKE YOUR FIRST CHOICE and DRIVE. You know in your heart it's right! And if the weather is bad, there will be many others who will be in your place with the driving. Talk to the dean and other staff members about your weather concerns. Don't let a few of Mother Nature's bad days ruin your whole experience! You DESERVE to go to the school you WANT to! XXOO!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MADDIE, *MY* MADDIE!

I've been away from the computer due to other obligations, but YOU were always on my mind.

I just wish I knew your address so I could have sent flowers to you - I know Rog would understand...he's as twitterpated with you as I am.

Congratulations on nursing school! I know that you light up a room when you enter it. Hospitals, doctor's offices, and small community clinics need more people like YOU.
