June, thanks so much for your kind words. Because the cold winter still has much of my garden recovering, I kinda went away from my largely foliage theme in my garden this year and started planting color here and there and intensely in some areas. I'm finding it's a little too busy for me, as I prefer a more subtle garden. The BBG confirmed this for me. My favorite areas were the serene, sculpted areas with more foliage, less blooms. I did love the roses and flowers, of course, but was more fascinated and felt more at peace with plainer areas. Sometimes it's nice to have a change, though, and as my foliage recovers, the flowers distract the eye from them! Silvia, I'm glad the photos spurred some good memories for you. It is overwhelming, all the things there are to do and see in New York. However, I would not trade my bit of land for it all! Denise, I know when I was young the gardens would probably not have been on my short list of things to see. Yes, the roses were spectacular. So many types, so much color! I've got my truck loaded, too. I hope we have a large turnout, but I don't have as many plants this year as usual. It's just been so darned cold and wet! Things are just now beginning to dare to stick their noses (er, buds)out. I'm bringing a few tomato, pepper, cabbage, broccoli and lettuce plants as well as a few perennials.

Hey Greg, I sold most of my potted cold hardy palms out of my yard.I just put up a sighn that said Cold Hardy Palms for sale.Ironically I sold more cold hardy Bananas than anything,LOL.Here you can sell up to 5 plants a day without a permit.I thought about selling some more of my potted plants on ebay.I have way to many potted Agaves and Yuccas.I have about 50 S.palmetto seedlings I need to sell also.I just planted 25 B.yatay seeds in small pots to sell next spring.I have people stop by here all the time asking me if I'm selling plants,because of all the potted plants in my front yard.So I started selling some of them.I have about 30 Banana plants up by the road,I think that's what draws them here also.I live across the street from Bankhead Hwy and people can see them good while going through town so a lot of people stop and ask me about the Banana plants.Once they stop they see all the potted palms and Yuccas and Agaves.Usually then they ask me if I want to sell anything.That's how it started and more and more people keep stopping.The bananas draw them in and then they want to buy something.It seems to work good for me so far.
