I think we should give Tikanis a couple more days of celebrating since her birthday fell on a Saturday when it is too quiet around here! So Happy Unbirthday Birthday!

Besh - you are sounding quite chipper this AM.

I hope John didn't get weather that we had this weekend by me. I hate camping in the rain.

Dee - if you are checking in I am going on a cruise next August for my nephews wedding! I will need to talk to you when you return.

Good afternoon! It's 101 degrees here, so I'm chillin' in the house till late this afternoon.

Thanks, BJ, for posting that Spinach Loaf recipe the other day. I'm going to make it tomorrow to take with me on my trip.

Speaking of recipes, I also c&p'ed the Spinach Cheese Squares one from a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone here have any other snack recipes which are very low/no carbs that I could make and take with me?

I spent the weekend having early birthday lunches, so the weight loss has stalled for the time being. But, I'm determined to keep at it until I see the results I need to be healthy. I'm drowning in water today to make up for what I didn't drink while I was too busy eating this weekend.

Since I have worked like crazy from day 1, and havent had much time to post, I guess I should fill in what I didnt on my post Monday morning-- I was hired on November 8 to fill a newly created position in the accounting department. It was the position of Accountant/Supervisor, and I was told that a 4-year degree was needed for this position. I was also told that I would learn the 5 audits that the department performs, as well as any other additional accounting functions that were needed. I was not given a deadline in which to have finished my training. During the last 2 weeks of November, I was taught one audit, and in December, I was sent to supervisor training, and then my direct supervisor, "H" re-certified as a supervisor me on December 28th and wrote on my evaluation "Good Job!!". I also started learning the slot audit about during the first/second week in Dec. And that is where I stayed until. On or about January 4, "H" called me into her office to say that from the reports she was hearing, that I was "burnt-out" (wtf???) on the slot machine audit, and that I was being put on another audit on January 8. When I asked what the problem was, she replied that she had received reports that I was stressed out. The only slot auditor for the week in question (December 25 to December 29; that supposedly burnt me out; it was also the busiest week at the property) was "R", who at one point told me to "stop f*cking things up", among other various job-misleading "help" she gave me while she was "training" me. I was told previously that she ("R) was very angry with me coming on board as she thought she should get the new position, even though she does not have the required degree. She ("R") was hostile to me while training, uncooperative and very demeaning to me and my background. She refused to help me on more than one occasion when I had problems with the audit, and would have a negative attitude when I asked for advice. And no, she wasnt too busy with her work to help-- I went to the other audit, and have been there ever since. "H" called me into her office on Sunday, January 22, told me that my position was eliminated because I wasnt trained enough to supervise the office for the week of January 23 27 (since the other supervisors were in training that week), and that I had had problems with that week in the slot audit. (Seems to be a re-occurring theme.) At this point, told her that I had never been given any specific guidelines as to when my training was to be finished, and this was the first I had heard that the other supervisors were to gone from the office that week. Then, I spoke up, and finally told her the conflicts with "R", and some of the things she said to me, and that she deliberately tried to teach me wrong procedures concerning the slot audit. (I learned about the wrong procedure from the other slot auditor when she came back to work, and I asked the correct procedures.) I also pointed out that I was never given a timeline that I was to know the whole department, and that she, "H", was my supervisor, and had failed to inform me of this. "H"then kept repeating that that week in the slots was bad (see, keeps re-occurring), and that I was being demoted to this other position, with a 50% reduction on pay (and I now became hourly; I was salaried before) and that my off days would be changed to reflect my new status. She also asked me not to say anything to the rest of the department until next week. (I assume the week starting January 29.) On Tuesday, January 23, I was sorting paperwork at the printer, and "H" apparently did not see me standing there, and I over-heard her, speaking in a low voice, tell "R"that my supervisor position was open, and she should go apply for it. No one else in the accounting department knew, as they might have a degree and be qualified for the position, but "H" did not choose to share that information with anyone other then "R", who has been sabotaging me since she had the chance in December. So, at this point, I figured that since it was, ahem.. public knowledge at this pointhey"H" told "R"and I let it slip at lunch to the others. Everyone was shocked, as I get along with them, and have helped out with their problems before. And, I figured that it was best to hear it from me, so that I dont look like a whipped pup. One of the guys that reported to me went back to the department and let it slip that he found out, and "R"s face was pricelessshe got defensive and her voice got high. It was funny to see and hear. He said that he overheard "H" tell "R", and she immediately started to backpedal. I did go to HR, and register my complaints, and the rep asked what I thought the repercussions would be, and I told her that I figured Id be fired, and she said "Well see about that", and smiled. Throughout all of this, I have kept my composure, and have smiled and not acted any different. I still talk and laugh and cut up, and I have kept the same level of work standards that I have from the first day. I finished one audit by 10am yesterday, the second by 4, and still and time to deal with other peoples problems with their work. So, I am still employed, but I think things will change on Sunday. And probably not for the better. Oh well. Its just a job that paid very well; its not my life and it does not define me. I did tell Rog on Monday, after I took a good assessment of things, and he is OK with things, no matter what happens. I told him everything, and I told him the reason that I could not tell him Sunday was that I couldnt bear the look of disappointment in his eyes, he told me I was silly, and that I couldnt disappoint him, ever. BJI love you, my sisnothing you can say to me would ever hurt me, b/c I know you speak from your heart. If I were hourly, I would say you are right, but I was salaried, and all supervisors must stay until all the work is finished, even if they themselves have been done for hours. And I was told that everyone must help the others out to finish up, which is fine with meso, thats why I would always ask, when I was finished, if I could help with someone elses work. (Although, in retrospect, I never did see any of the other supervisors do thatever. ???) My insurance will not kick in until Marcha long way to go--, and I was not given any type of review until this past Sunday. Nor any sense of unfilled expectations on anyones partI was told by one of me peers that I was going a very good job And as for the "down with" statement, I merely meant that I was now down in the pit with themnot a put down (LOL!) in anywaythey are great people! J The coatit is a Burberry, and it came form a consignment store with a no-return policy. (I rarely buy anything from a mall.) Still, even for that price, I wouldnt have bought it now. Its so gorgeousI feel like a million bucks with it onJJJ And---about the attitudeyoure right, and thats exactly what Ive been doing all week. Im still the same person I was this time last week, and Ill be that same person this time next week. While I hate being in this position, it is just a job, and it does not define me anymore than my MIL does. Last 15 months: Dec 2003- Went ot Alaska for Christmas w/ my family, first time in 15 years. Wonderful. January 2004 - DH decided he needed to separate and went looking for a place of his own. I received emails, cards and support from my SS sisters and DH & I went to counseling and started some work. May 2004 - My yearly visit with my Kentucky family and MADDIE! Loved it and LOVE her. Spring 2004 - Exchanged a series of emails with DeeMarie and we learned a lot about each other. Very fun and lovely conversations. Beautiful person, she is. June 2004 - Surrendered my dog to keep my husband. Painful but necessary. Again, lots of support from here. Summer 2004 - Spent living in Alaska. Drove up and down the state and had a killer time. Loved it but was happy when I got home in the fall, then I got homesick for Alaska - lol. September 2004 - Went to NY and met Raeanne and her DH- visit too short and had TOO much fun! The people are so fantastic that we're thinking of moving to that coast in a few years! Scoping weather and property now. DH started 2nd year of law school - only 1 more to go after this. I started back to college to finish a degree I started many years ago. All children in school. Dec 2004 - Had DH's family here for holidays. So stressful, DH blew a gasket and almost left again. Back to counseling...and deal making. Lots better now that family's gone. January - Signed up for another college load; continuing to work toward that piece of paper I want. Becoming aware that time flies when you don't have any. Signed up at WW Core Program. Determined to lose weight and be healthy. Still here, after many years and still checking in really regularly. Planning a trip to east coast in March to scout a place to live when we finally move. KYSusie~ Good to hear from you. Keep on truckin' toward wellness. Hi goils! I've only got a minute, but I just had to post this one! We're at the National Street Rod Show here in Louisville until Sunday (today was the first day). I love seeing the cars, but getting to yap with the owners is an even bigger treat, so I've had a blast all day. And then this spectacularly beautiful woman and 2 men come to our booth. The bearded one looks familar, but the woman had caught my attention, she's that breath-taking. Anyway, back to the guys; we're selling all sorts of LED belt buckles, dog tags, etc, and the display just screams. So they wandered over to see it, and ended up wiping us out of the LED items. They go to pay, and the bearded guy pulls out a pair of dice, rolls them on one of our display cases, and the guys start shooting cr@ps to see who would pay for all of the stuff. I am thinking that I know the guys, and the voice is familiar, but who the heck are they???? Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill from ZZTop. And the stunning chick? Dusty's daughter. Well, duh! I knew I knew them, but I was so shocked that I just went brain-dead. Makes sense since ZZTop is really into street/hot rods. And there's 10,000 of them in the parking lot. So, whatta day! Makes me wonder what tomorrow will bring! :):) Oh, and a crew from The Outdoor Channel is there, and they are auditioning for a "Host-your-own-fishing-show-for-a-day", and one of the producers wants me to audition tomorrow. Maybe I don't want to know, but I'm sure as heck gonna buy a lottery ticket!!!! LOL!!! Gotta go-battery is low-- Hugs, Maddie

Dee - Hey Gorgeous - I wish I was meeting you this weekend as originally planned, but it all worked out for the best, since my nephew has indefinitely postponed the wedding LOL. Have fun. BJ - you better not be stressing over any unfinished business. Donna - WTG with your loss. You are doing awesome. Marci - I hope you get in a lot of quality time with DD. Suzanne - I am sorry to say that my years of enlightment didn't take place until the 2000's. It's a long journey and I wished I had started much earlier LOL. I put my zen garden on a tray on my ottoman yesterday - this way I will play with it more often. QOD - my weekend starts on Thursday because we have a standing date with good friends that come up every Thursday for the weekend and we always meet them for dinner. Tonight I have nothing planned, but my girlfriend is home alone this weekend and I may invite her over for dinner (if I can get my act together). Saturday we are going to a birthday party for another friend and Sunday nothing planned yet. My sister cancelled and will probably come next weekend. Just as well, it may take me that long to catch up with laundry, etc. Tikanis, if you can read this, get your butt back here! That goes for you too Gretchen, Jen, John, Amy - you all know who you are.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I have no plans for today, which sounds great to me. I have been on a business trip for 3 days and am ready for some "homelife".

I'm visiting my son and his family the rest of the week. I brought the spinach cheese squares and spinach bread with me. So far, so good on the eating. They're eating healthier, too, so it's been easy.

I heard from Patti. She's in Texas now, awaiting the birth of her granddaughter. We'll get together next week when I get home.

We received some wonderful news last night. My DH had the biopsy of his thyroid yesterday and it came back benign!!! He still has to have surgery since it is a goiter and needs to come out, but at least it is not cancer. Thank you all for your well wishes!

Jen - Hope you get to do something special for your birthday. Even a soak in the tub with NO kids pounding on the door, a manicure, a shopping trip for "Mom" only, a night of no cooking, dishes or cleaning.

I spent the morning at school getting more paperwork done. It's beginning to look a lot like preschool again. I don't think I should have to go back until 9/5.

Milkdud - Please tell Patti Hi from me when you see her. I would love for her to check in and let us know when the baby comes. Hvae fun visiting your family. I will finally get to see my son the first week of September. Can't wait!

Besh, ((((hugs)))) and glad you and DH got that good news. Whew!!

This has been quite a couple of weeks of birthdays!!

Marci, thanks for your sweet note...........okay, how did you do the card? I recognized the paper immediately!! I can't tell you how many times I have seen paper that I would love to turn into cardstock. You must share how you did that.

Ladies, Marci sent me a thank you note made out of the paper I wrapped her gift in!! It's great.

Not much new here. My campout was great until Saturday afternoon when the deluge began! The weather predicition was driving rain Saturday night and all day Sunday. So, we decided to pack up and go while it was still fairly calm. We drove home three hours in the dark and rain.....ugh. I was glad when I woke up Sunday morning in the driving rain and hugh thunderstorm! It was nice to know my girls were nice and dry in the barn. We had fun but it was too far and too short a time. Oh well. Ces't la vie.

It's cold today - only 60! Feels a bit like fall.

Suzanne - my married name ranks 844 and my maiden name ranks 1051. I was shocked by both of those. My married name I hardly ever hear. Too bad about the rain. It is cold here today too.

Besh - good news - what a relief for all of you.

Just a quickie here - have had company after company, MIL is still here and I am trying to catch up with things and find a little time to relax as I am totally exhausted.

My married name ranked 3,624 and my maiden name ranked................30,359! Not a common name to be sure.

NHSuzanne - I am glad you liked the notecard and envelope. Can you believe that I used freezer paper and an iron? You crinkle, crinkle and crinkle the tissue paper then smooth out and lay flat, wrong side up. Tear off a sheet of freezer paper about the same size (it won't be quite as wide) and lay shiny side down on the wrong side of the tissue paper. Iron (works better without steam) the NON-SHINY side of the freezer paper; the waxy side will adhere to the tissue paper. I just use old envelopes as templates and open them up and trace them onto the freezer paper once it is adhered, cut, fold and either use glue or double-sided tape to hold the envelope together. The note card is just a rectangle of the same paper folded to the appropriate size, but you could also use co-ordinating cardstock. Voila! You have stationery! Glad you liked it. Recycling at its best.

Raeanne - Hope you get to take a breather soon.

Besh - When is the wedding? I can't remember the exact date. When do you go back to school? What good books did you read this summer. My favorites were The Girls by Lori Lansens, The Mercy of Thin Air by Ronlyn Domingue, and Black Swan Green by David Mitchell. I am sure there were other good ones, but those stand out in my mind.

Donna - What is keeping you busy these days?

Zig - You need a vacation from your vacation? LOL

Hi,

My married name ranked 1618 and my maiden name ranked 18,013. Yikes, I guess I moved up!

Marci the wedding is September 9. 2 weeks! It seemed so far away, now it is almost here. I bought my waterproof mascara, so I am all set. I read only young adult stuff this summer. So much going on, too hard for me to concentrate on much else. I read Briar Rose by Jane Yolen; So B. It by Sarah Weeks (such a sweet book, loved it); I just started Shug by Jenny Han. I am also reading the Carbohydrate Addict's lifespan program because of Raeanne.

Happy B-day Tikanas!

Looks kinda quiet this week, everyone must be getting ready for the big back to school coming soon.

I dont want to rant too much about yet another crappy vacation, but having the last 3 now get rained out is making me wonder who I made so angry to deserve it.

We had a nice Friday, setup camp, went for an evening horseback ride, then had a campfire. Saturday we tubed the river in the morning, then dealt with showers all afternoon and into the night. I brought my portable dvd player, so we watched a movie and played cards. Sunday we got up and it was pouring so my friend packed up and left, and because some of my stuff was under his tarp I had to pack up most of my stuff too. I decided to pack up the rest of it and go out for breakfast and see if I could get the forcast. It called for rain all day and into the night so I gave up and just went home. Monday the weather seemed to break so I drove back up to check out the Polar caves, they forcasted sun all afternoon. But of course when I got up into the mountains it started to rain on me. So I drove home and called it a vacation. I ended up playing golf with my dad tue and wed and stayed local. I had a good time golfing but never got to hike or kayak and its depressing. I dont like to do things alone, esp go on vacation, but bit the bullet and did it and feel like I got slapped in the face. Sorry Im just over tired and sick of life right now, nothing is going well and im having a hard time finding any reason to care anymore...

Think I'll end it here before I suck anymore joy from your day. Take care and have a good weekend, im working to make up for my vacation days.. /sigh.

Oh John! Sorry about the weather!! It wasn't raining on just you............LOL, I got rained out too. Sucks but it sounds like you made the best of it. Tell me about your horseback ride? I want to hear.......that should have been the highlight of your vacation!! LOL

John - I was hoping that the sun G@ds were shining down upon you! We had the same weather by us.

Most of my company is gone, MIL is still here. We had 4 different groups since Friday (some overlapping) and friends from FL will be arriving this afternoon, but not staying at my house... I was exhausted yesterday and actually took a quick nap.

I am reading A Million Little Pieces - even after all the controversy - I am loving it. It is a very quick read and well written - I just went into it as a piece of fiction.

BJ - where are you sis?

I am down 12 lbs since 7/5 and my clothes are getting loose and I am loving the new baggy look. Another 8 lbs and I am going shopping!

Tikanis - I am so glad you got to go on a vacation - you deserve it girl!

I just wanted to report that I made Marci's Spinach Squares and substituted the spinach for asparagus and they are excellent.

I hope the reason no one is posting is because they are out having a wild fun time - I want to hear all the details tomorrow.
