Good Morning!

Hope everyone is off to a great start this week.

I am meeting some former co-workers for lunch today and then running errands.

The garage sale went well. I priced things to sell and I only had to pack up a small box and take a few things to Good Will.

I had a great time in Nantucket! The weather was perfect!
Besh, I cannot believe you have never been there. You should check it out someday. It is unique.

Marci, glad your yard sale was good. I should do one but just don't have the energy. I could have a pretty good one that is for sure.

Marci - I sent you info on Tikanis. Glad the sale was a success. I love the feeling of getting rid of stuff! I filled a large trash bag yesterday from things collected in the basement that would be of no use to anyone LOL. I finally broke down and got rid of my kids workbooks, etc from elementary school.

Suzanne - glad you enjoyed Nantucket and the weather cooperated. I was there for the first time a couple years ago and am anxious to return.

I have a relatively quiet week ahead of me but that can change at a moments notice. It is DH's birthday today so I am taking him out. If it were nicer I was going to grill some lobster on the lake - I am not telling him that as he will be disappointed LOL.

Today was an awesome day. Bob got up early with me and we went out to pick up our order of Tangelos and on to the Mennonite Market... Did a little shopping and then back home again.. I sorted through some old coffee mugs and will be putting them in the spring yard sale for the Hope Fund at church..I know I will have tons more too. Christmas stuff especially.. I have waaaaay too much in the way of Christmas ornies.. I just keep the ones with sentimental value to them like some hand painted ornies my mom did and little gifts of ornies from a lot of really nice online friends I have met over the years.. Carolyn, It is so amazing when you can get more order in your life by purging what is just not working to the good in your life.... Hanging on to what is doing absolutely nothing but draining you either financially or physically or spiritually is not worth it... Kick it to the curb or give it away or sell it or donate it... but yeah.. don't let it drag you down.. sometimes things can act as an albatross around you neck..and will keep you from doing other things that really are worth while... besides, if you give it away or donate or so... then someone else may garner a really great blessing from it.. and guess what... your blessings will increase too..Just because you remove something from your life that is doing you no good, doesn't mean it doesn't have value.. to someone else it may be just fantastic.. It is turning cold for the next week, so walking will be brisk.. and not really long treks.. just a mile and a half.. and that's it.. toes get cold after that.. lol So ar this year I have walked every day.. and still watching my intake of calories.. so it's all good. I thought I would check in before leaving for the weekend. Yesterday was a day from hell. I am asking you again for prayers and support for my family. What I am going to tell you is almost impossible to believe. It concerns two of my nephews. One is ninth grade, the other away at college, finishing up his senior year. Last week my brother and his wife received a call from the ninth grader's school, saying that he had suffered an "episode" and recommended taking him to the doctor. To make a long story short, he had gotten extremely stressed out at school (he is always on the honors list) and just cracked. They described it as a manic episode. He is seeing several doctors and has gotten better, went back to school yesterday. When talking to my mother yesterday morning, she said she had started receiving some very bizarre emails from our other nephew, who is away at college. She didn't want to bother my brother, because of everything they had been going through with the younger son. I asked her to forward them to me, and gosh almighty, they were more than bizarre, really out of it, almost suicidal. So I told her I was going to track down my brother and/or his wife at their work and let them know. To make a long story short, this nephew has also suffered some sort of manic breakdown - they tested him and did not find drugs or alcohol in his system and will be committing him to a mental hospital for evaluation. My brother is with him, as my sister-in-law had to stay home with the other son. I was hesitant to post this on a forum, but I believe in prayer and that it can help heal, and my poor brother and his family need it in the worst way. They are just stunned and in shock. They are the last family you would think something like this would happen to. Very stable environment, very supportive of their children. Thank you for letting me share.

Happy Friday!!! TIGIF for sure. I am hoping to get my two fields and lawns mowed! That is if it doesn't rain which it may. It's a huge project and I should have been doing a little each night this week but I didn't. I also hope to get some gardening in. My tomato plants are on the porch hardening off now but I won't be able to plant them until the end of this month. I can put my lettuce, spinach, carrots, beans, etc in. Seriously, just last week we got a foot of snow in northern NH!! Casey has a major swollen eye this morning. Not completely swollen shut. It was so windy the last few days - really high winds she probably has some sand or something in there. I will go check her at lunch and if it's worse I need to call the vet. Poor girl looks like she got slugged. Tikanis, sounds like you have a nice full and fun weekend ahead. Maddie, I know you aced your finals. It's s done deal you got A's across the board! Maddie, I used to ride a bike with Mark until I got horses! Mark has a Harley of course and my bike is an old Kawasaki that starts every time....unlike the Harley which I call flipper because of the cute little noise it makes when it doesn't want to start. For this trip we are renting a full dresser so we will be riding in comfort. I am getting excited about this trip. Donna, thanks for the info on Philly. We are going to stay at Penn's Landing. Seems like we will be able to see a bit there. We are only there for the night so a nice room and a good meal are going to be our main priority. I am sure we will see enough but during my research it sure seems like a really nice city to visit and spend some time. But if I can't bring Sweet Pea I don't want to go usually! LOL Marci is going to Florida to spend mother's day with her kids! Next??

A lot has happened around here in a short time. Wodka - ((((HUGS)))) to you and your sister. I think of you often. Dee - ((((HUGS)))) you have been through way too much lately. In September I am going to NJ and will try to hook up with you at some point - so I can give you a hug in person. Marci - ((((HUGS)))) to you as well. I had to redo my pap once and it is unnerving. When will you have the results? I hope you have fun with your friend at the Shaker Woods fair today. Besh - thank you for your kind words. I do enjoy painting, as frustrating as it can be at times LOL. I just sold the one you like, Wednesday night. It was my largest piece to date. I also sold the boat on Saturday. Both of my top money pieces - now I need to paint more LOL. We have the fly problem on the boat as well. My family thought I had lost it the other day. I was all set for a nice peaceful time on the lake with a book in hand and those little buggers just appeared from nowhere. I got up with a towel and just started swatting and screaming. Like you said, you take off and they stay right with you. We have had them before, but they are relentless this year. Sorry to hear about DIL grandmother, but glad they will be with you. Milkdud - I am so happy that things are working out with you in your new neighborhood. It sounds like you are going to be very involved socially very soon. My daughter has been using the TX mug you sent me. I hope it isn't missing when she leaves LOL. Patti - Blueberry muffins sound great - my DH can BBQ and reheat food (and sometimes that is questionable) but he really can't cook at all. Which is fine for me, since I like to cook - he gets clean-up duty. BJ - come out, come out, wherever you are.... Suzanne - enjoy your time out on the high seas. I love our lake and it is plenty big (32 miles long), but there is something about being out on the ocean that is so special and I know you are going out there in style. Donna - Are you still working out? I am down to twice a week, but do try to get cardio in on most of the other days - I have to admit I haven't been living up to my expectations lately. I did get it in today and I moved it up on my priority list. McPeg - Marci was nice enough to post some of my paintings on her photo site. If you need the address let me know. I will have to privately email it to you. QOD #1 - I'm with Marci. I always thought how cool it would be to be Samantha from Bewitched. QOD #2 - Busy with DD's visit, hope to get a little lake time in and a nice dinner tonight to celebrate DH birthday. Hugs to all that need them and even if you don't. Make the best of today.

Hi everyone.

I had a lovely lunch with my daughter to-day. We try to do that once or twice a week on her lunch break.

I'm working away on my chemo caps. I tried a new pattern, worked on it a great deal on the week-end and some to-day and ripped it all out. I didn't like it. If I don' like it, I can't expect someone else to want to wear it.

Wednesday is weigh in day. How about you, newdawn1895? How is it going? I haven't done too well the last couple of weeks so we'll see what happens.

I hope to-morrow to go out of town about 35 miles to visit a friend in a nursing home. She is 93 years old and enjoys visits so much.

Good Monday evening, y'all!

It was another hot one here in Big D today - high 90's.

I spent the day at my oldest son's home today visiting with them and my sister and her family. What a great time and wonderful food we all enjoyed!

My legal proceedings are starting to look promising, so I'm hoping that things work out with the latest plan and this will soon be over. It's very stressful on me. While I'm actually not stress-eating through this, my face is breaking out like a teen's, and my nerves are not quite as "cast iron" as Marci wished for me. :) The almost-xh is aready dating, so he's definitely ready to move on and settle things. I'm just ready to be done with this.

Good to see you here Milkdud. The weather has been so hot here too - low 90's. It awful and it's very hard on Sweet Pea. Sounds like you are doing well with your decision and I am happy that it's not really ugly. I hope all concludes quietly and quickly for your sake.

I am forcing myself to start thinking of preschool. But I am telling everyone I know that this IS MY LAST YEAR and this time, no one is going to talk me out of it! My heart just isn't in it anymore. :~(

We may go out for dinner tonight and I am going out to lunch tomorrow. Then off to Penn State for my niece's graduation over the weekend. Nothing real exciting, but it is keeping me out of trouble. lol

NHSuzanne - No luck today finding that July/August issue, but I still have a few more places I can check later this week.

Tikanis it's good to see you here! We worry about you when you stay away. Glad that you are busy though.

Marci, it's driving me crazy about not being able to get that issue for you! I am still looking. I think Barnes and Nobles sells it but I don't have one near. Also, Hannaford if you have them around. It's really a good issue too! Hope you are able to find it before you have to go back to school! Sigh...

The weatherman promises cooler weather but no rain...I want rain in the worst way. The sound of crunching pasture is sickening to me.

Good morning!

Wheweee, it was hot this morning. I did not want to walk, was hopeful when I saw lightning, but it was just heat lightning. Once I get dressed and out the door, I'm fine, it's just getting to that point! The tropical stuff/depression is to start moving in this afternoon, but shouldn't be anything major.

Enjoyed my trip with my brother to see our mother. Shopped at a cute place "Charming Charlie's" - my cousin in Dallas had told us about it. All sorts of jewelry, purses, even tops and dresses. Saw a movie, ate out. Just fun.

milkdud, I hope your days are brighter soon.

suzanne, I wish I could share some of the rain that is headed here with you. I would gladly swap it for some cooler temps!

ivamae, I need to start weighing in again, but don't have the nerve today.....good luck with yours, though!

tikanis, hope you are able to slow down a bit.

Well Wodka, I weighed this morning. It appears I'm on a plateau - neiher up nor down. That's a lot beter though than an increase.

I did go yeserday. Had quite a time. I don't drive all that much anymore and because of all the consruction I went a different way - one that I'm not that familiar with. When I came to one town there was a detour because of construction - a lengthy one. Anyway got around that all right. Got to the next town and made a wrong turn and didn't realize it until I saw the name on a nursing home and realized I wasn't supposed to be anywhere near it. Turned around and found my way.
When I got to the nursing home, my friend had a bad cold and they strongly advised ,for my own sake, that I not go in to see her.

I was sorry about that but didn't want to get sick myself and bring the flu home to others. I asked them not to tell her that I had been here.

I came home a different way than I went. Still not that familiar with part of it but all worked out fine. The weather was nice and I did run a few other errands so I don't consider it was time wasted. The fact I didn't see my friend gives me an excuse to go again in a couple of weeks. Bet I don't go the same route!!!

I don't intend to do too much to-day. This old girl gets exhausted easily. Anyway I had a good sleep last night and a good walk with the dog this morning.

Ivamae, what a day you had! I have said it before, but it's worth repeating. Knowing how "young" you are, and what health complications you've had to battle, you never cease to amaze me with your enthusiasm for life and kindness to others. I hope you catch up on your much-needed rest today. Congrats on keeping your weight down this week. I agree - no gain is good!

Thanks wodka for the nice remarks. Yes, I have caught some rest to-day and had a good sleep last night, too. Many years ago I made my mind up and told everyone that my body may get decrepit but I don't intend to let my spirit get old. I still think that is a good attitude.

I like doing things for others, especially if I feel that they need it. I know that a person can be taken advantage of and I have a sign on my computer desk that has been there for years. It says " don't take unfair advantage of anyone and don't let anyone take unfair advantage of you" I think that is worth remembering for every ones sake.

Good Friday all,

TGIF. It's been a long week in the office all alone. We are supposed to have a good weekend and I have more than enough projects to keep me busy. DH is in British Columbia so he won't be home this weekend! LOL

I am getting ready to head to State College, aka Happy Valley for my niece's graduation. I love that campus and always enjoy revisiting my old stomping grounds.

I have eaten out so much this week and will be eating out this weekend, so I look forward to staying in next week and finding some new recipes (thanks to DeeMarie and NHSuzanne). When I eat out too much, my stomach starts to protest! LOL
