Good Monday all,

Been away too long and have not caught up on reading. Acadia was wonderful although I missed Sweet Pea terribly. Hope all is well.

Happy MONDAY!

Not really happy to be back at work, but happy that my next vacation comes next month. hahahahaha

George, it was great to see you again. Please feel free to stop by anytime.

I tried to follow my body signs last week, as I still have hope that intitutive eating is for me. In fact, I made a decision to eat something that I really wanted (nothing is restricted) but I suspected might make me feel ill. It was amazing how unappealing that cake looked the next day. Did not feel the need to eat any more of it. Ohhh, and I'm no longer getting on the scale except when my doctor demands it. I just don't care anymore about the word "diet"...it takes away freedom and keeps me upset about when and what I eat instead of just listening to my body. When I'm hungry (truly hungry), I eat something. Don't quite get the "when-I'm-full" section of this, but it will come to me. Also, I can now identify when I'm going to food for emotional support or boredom; I dont always resist at this point, but I can identify it! LOL!!!

Hi all!

Just checking in to say before I go off to study more. Tikanis, is it always like this? I've studyed pretty much continously since Friday afternoon, and have worn myself out. I want to keep my GPA which is why I'm doing this, so I can't complain really, but school is fierce.

Dee, I just looked up the place you mentioned in a prior post, and you're about 30 minutes up from Myrtle Beach? I have a good friend that has a condo there, and she's always asking me to go (I did last Labor Day), so wouldn't it be cool if I could work out a visit when you're in NC?

OK, Georgeypooh--come back, you hunk you! :)

Thinga are OK here, just praying for August to get here, and classes to be over. Send good vibes my way, please. This is a h3ll week, becasue I have another test on Friday, if tomorrow doesn't kill me. :) (That's OK--maybe George can revive me!)

I found this! LMAO! (And this is a true story, so help me!) Ahem: "Several years ago, some smarty-pants posted the following recipe: ROAST STICKY CHICKEN 4 tsp salt 1 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp thyme tsp garlic powder 2 tsp paprika 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp white pepper Â½ C chopped onion 1 large roasting chicy In a small bowl, thoroughly combine all the spices. Remove giblets from the chicy; clean the cavity well, and pat dry with paper towels. Rub the spice mixture into the chicy, both inside and out, making sure it is evenly distributed and rubbed deep down into the skin. Place in a resealable plastic bag, seal and refrigerate overnight. When ready to cook chicy, put in a crock-pot and do not add any liquid. As the cooking process goes on, it will produce its own juices. Cook on low 8 to 10 hours, and it will be falling off the bone tender. Sounds simple, right? I got a wild hair one Friday to fix it, and then cook it the next day. So, after work, I went to the grocery (no list, mind you, just reliance on my mighty memory! SNORT!) and proceeded to run amuck. I couldnÂt remember just what spice I had, and when I got a good look at the prices, I decided that I had all the ones that were required, and so I just bought a fresh chicy. Got home, got comfortable, Rog was at work, and all was right with the world. UntilÂ..I got to looking for the spices, and realized to my horror that I was missing a great deal of what I needed. HmmmmÂ get dressed and go back to the store, or improvise? Improvise, it is! No cayenne? I got FrankÂs Hot Sauce. Thyme? DonÂt need no stinkinÂ thyme! I got oregano! Garlic powder?? Please. I got the real thing. White pepper---ahhhhÂ. I do have that. UmmmÂ. No, I donÂt. I do have an empty can in the cabinet, but I donÂt think that counts. So, I improvised, substituted and down-right lied. Got all the spice together, and then started to mess with my fresh chicy, that I paid more for than my stupid car. As I am pulling out the giblet bag, I noticed that it was hard and cold. Not good, as fresh anything should not be partially frozen. As it reposed on the counter, and I was contemplating on whether I should get the bourbon or tequila out (for me), the d@mned chicy tried to make a run for it and slid off the counter. Onto the dirt and grime, decimated frozen peas, and lots of cat hair that make up the daily mess of my kitchen floor. FreakinÂ greatÂnow IÂm gonna hafta shave the d@mned thing before I can use the rub. I pick it up and throw it into the sink, spreading unimaginable gunk everywhere, wash and dry it, nail it to the counter, and start to apply the rub. Lemme tell yaÂthis ainÂt as easy as it sounds. Nothing like massaging a cold, dead chicy, and getting the impression that it actually likes itÂewwwww! And I donÂt know what they mean by "Large Roasting Chicy". What the h3ll is that?? Mine was 6 pounds, and the rub didnÂt seem to cover it like I thought it should. So, into the galleon sized Zip-Lock bag it goes. No, wait. The d@mned chicy is too big and when I try to shove it in the bag, the rub is getting shoved into the grooves of the sealing part, and itÂs not staying on the chicken. H3LL! LetÂs try this again, and dig outta the grooves as much rub as I can, and smear it on the chicy. DidnÂt work this time, either. (Note: Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Case in point.) I cuss and I fuss, and I finally got the chicy in the bag (BARELY!!), and now, the Zip Lock wonÂt lock. Too much rub in the grooves, and nothing, short of dynamite, will clear it out. OK. IÂm tired, IÂve killed the kitchen, I have spice rub and cat hair all over my face and arms (where they stuck in the chicken juice). I donÂt care anymore. I will be in the local mental facility tomorrow anyway, so why do I care about tomorrowÂs dinner? The chicken won. The rub won. The d@mned Zip Lock (that wonÂt) bag won. They had, until I remember my stapler. My handy dandy, will staple anything, always there for me, stapler. With a maniacal laugh and a smile that would put the Joker to shame, I dug it out of the drawer, and proceeded to staple that d@mned bag **shut**. I was a staplinÂ fool, and I only stopped when I ran out of staples. IÂm sure the neighbors were wondering what was going on as I told the bagged chicy "IÂll get you, my pretty, and your d@mned rub, too!" along with the sounds of out of control stapling. I did eventually get some cheap wine and take a bubblebath, after showering off the remnants of the chicy. Rog saw the poor creature stuffed in the fridge, and wisely chose not to say anything until the next day. The chicy was very good, however, but every time I see a galleon sized Zip lock bag, I get an irresistible urge to staple something."

Good morning everyone! Patti - I'm not as bad as you are with my sleep. Last night I cheated and took an allergy medication because it usually makes me so drowsy for the first couple of hours. It was enough to get me to sleep. I'm relearning to sleep, somewhat. I have had to take naps now which have been helping. Normally I never nap because of irregular sleeping. We do what we can. What does your doctor say for your insomnia? CONGRATULATIONS on your loss! You go girl! Milkdud - Isn't it wonderful looking at the world 'anew' again with Aubrie? She sounds wonderful. Do what you can with your eating but don't sweat it, just carry on after she goes home. Enjoy your time together. Wish I were a fly on your wall! LOL Wodka the fact you are holding your own on the scale is fantastic with the company. I'm with ya because I experience the same each time we visit the in-laws every month. Drinks, nibble bowls of nuts and chips - very hard. Sometimes I have to 'plan' those visits by bulking up on more veggie/fruits, less carbs a day before and after the visit to allow myself a few extras while there. The key to that was 'planning'. It's much harder when you have a visiting situation that goes on for a couple of weeks. So pat yourself on the back for holding your own! You are doing great! I'll be thinking about you when I working downtown today - I know you will be happy to get outside again! Nhsuzanne - how is your flush going? Mine helped a lot to refocus and remind myself how little fruit and veg I've been eating! I get lazy. Marci glad to see you post! I hope you'll post a pic when the kitchen is done. Maddie and Besh - thank you for the compliments! I feel like a million dollars after seeing those. Besh I am happy your sister is doing well. Keeping good thoughts coming your way. And a puppy! OMG I love puppies. Give her a big kiss for me. Lucky girl you are. I will be on and offline - my laptop died big time, DH set me up on his other laptop normally used for work...but I've also been busy finally making curtains for my spare room after sorting the junk out. The weather is playing nice again - we have running around to do along with getting me a new laptop. I balked at the idea and asked if I could just get a refurbished one. Dave wants me to have a new one because I use it for everything, we are not subscribing to TV since moving out here and use the laptop for reading news, watching TV online etc. It's our social life when we sit down and work beasts for both of us. There are some really good ones out there that are rated high for performance and COOLING under $500. My old HP sucked on cooling - my hardware in the machine just got slower and slower, things started stalling this week until it gave up completely yesterday. Boo. We're looking at a Toshiba Satellite. I had a Toshiba before and wore that sucker right out and I'm using an old Toshiba right now (DH's work laptop). It's also a much older machine too but still working well. Sometimes I wonder if the ground we have built on is cursed. Since our homebuild went wrong, lots of other things around here go wrong. Even our contractor said things that have been challenging just never happen on other sites. And get this, EXACTLY to the day we left Ottawa last year to be homeless in a trailer on site, we had a lightning strike on a tree in our field. It traveled to the house, damaged/killed our modem, wi-fi equipment, an outdoor outlet and possibly the start switch on DH's table saw (it was plugged into an extension cord from the house) which got zapped (circuit breaker went off). Because we have a $1K deductible on our insurance to keep costs down, it doesn't look like we've past that on damages to bother with it. Honestly I just don't know sometimes. There was a huge BANG and we both swear we saw an arc around our woodstove - which luckily the attached fan was still plugged in so it was grounded. Given the trees around the house and the fact we are on a hill top we are now thinking of getting a lightening rod installed. I don't want to say "what next". If we won the lottery we'd be gone tomorrow from here - not kidding. This has not turned into our dream home - it's a house on slab which we've been told will be hard to sell, the value is not as high as it could be because of the slab (supposed to be our walk out basement). Sigh. But we march on. Never dull although I would not mind some "dull" these days. So excuse me if I'm not online much over the next few days and maybe not until next week. It's Canada Day weekend too and we will be busy with family. I hope you are enjoying some fine weather, getting outside and taking care of yourself. Drink some water and try and have a walk! Well glad to see this posting.

This is going to be a big week for me. I have to have 4 and maybe 6 teeth pulled. They are doiing it at Interface because of the meds I'm on need monitoring. Wonder if having to eat soft foods for awhile will help get rid of a pound or two.

I just came from the cancer clinic where I was looking for info. I decided that I want to make them some chemo caps and although there are many patterns on the internet and I did ask for help at the Kitchen Table, someone suggested that I go and see what they had and get some suggestions.

All had been knit on 2 needles and had a seam up the back. I undersood from the Kitchen Table that soft yarn and no seams was more comfortable but it needed to be something that would machine wash and be all right in the dryer. I'm glad I went. Hopefully by the time cold weather arrives, I can have a quantity made.

I don't know if they give them away or charge a small amount. I would hope they wouldn't be expensive, anyway.

When are you having your teeth pulled? Oweee. I hope you have a pain-free and quick procedure and healing. We will all be thinking about you and sending well wishes your way.

Ivamae, having had a Mom who had to undergo brain surgery followed by chem, I cannot tell you how much those chem-caps will be appreciated! YOU are a sweetheart! Here's hoping that all goes smoothly with your dental procedure! When are you scheduled?

Maddie, Yes, school is difficult, but SO worth it! How much time off do you get in August? When do you start clinicals?

Good morning!

How is everyone? I'm getting ready for a dental appointment myself, hopefully just a checkup. I think I've mentioned this before but this particular dentist has a licensed hand massage person, who gives the most wonderful massage while your teeth are cleaned. I can hardly wait!

Had a mammogram on Monday, waiting on the results. I'm a little anxious because I am very ashamed to admit that I haven't had one since 2006. I will never let that happen again. I know better, but that was when my life was filled with "stuff" and excuses, and I ignored my health.

Remember when I mentioned doing Jillian Michael's "The Shred?" I injured my left shoulder over 10 years ago and every so often it acts up. It has been acting up since I did The Shred, so no more! I think I'll just stick to walking and hula hoops!

Suzanne - I was wondering when you were returning from Acadia. Glad you had a great time, but I know how happy you are to be home with SP.

Hi Goils! - as my FAVORITE gal, Maddie, would say... Maddie, stick with the studying - it will pay off! I would come and help you study personally, but I am a little busy myself!

I wish you girls could ALL have a relaxing retreat at my house - you all are certainly welcome any time!

Dear George,

It dismays to read that Maddie is your 'favorite' in light of the many private conversations we have had over wine and sunsets.

Be that as it may, I am willing to accept the competition and advise all the 'lovies' here to take your advice....look forward and not back.

I heard this morning that George Steinbrenner's father told him to give generously when no one was looking. He told George that if more than one person knew about it, it didn't count! hmmmmm...... sound advice from someone who was never in the news but brought up a son who had a tremendous impact on an entire industry (and some lucky souls who were the recipients of that generosity).

Besh, congratulations on your weight loss and good luck on your mammogram results. They called me today and told me mine were okay, and I breathed a sigh of relief and gratitude.

As I drove along the beach today for my dental appointment, it was such an eerie scene to see the workers in their hazmat suits picking up the tar balls and oil-related debris. Like a scene out of a science fiction movie.

The hand massage was delightful. They have hired a second technician because everyone wants one with their teeth cleaning. I love this place! It beats gas any day!

TGIF!

QOD: What's up for the weekend?

DH and I have some errands to run tonight.

Tomorrow morning we go shopping for a new dishwasher and over.

Tomorrow afternoon, we have been invited to a pre-cruise BBQ at our friend's home. There are 4 couples going on the September cruise, and 2 of those couples have never met. We like to get everyone together to start the partying early. I'm bringing along a big veggie salad.

Sunday, I hope to convince DH to finish as least 2 projects which are so close, yet so far. Maybe we'll ask DSD and DSSIL over for a BBQ.

OK, that's my weekend, sooooooooooo what say you?

Good news!!
My dental surgery is over and everyhing went very, very well.

I did manage to fill up on a lot of milk shakes with eggs and banana added along with the ice cream and milk. At night my daughter warmed up some mushroom soup and added 1/3 cup of peas and blended it in the blender. I can't get over how good it was.

Also more good news. I weighed on Wednesday and lost another pound so now I am down a total of 42 pounds and sitting on 150. I would like to lose another 5 for wiggle room and try to keep between 145 and 150.

Hope everyone has a great day, keeps healthy ,wealthy and wise. I wouldn't know about the wealthy part and maybe not even the wise, but it sounds good.

Good morning!

Ivamae, I can't believe you are already posting after yesterday's dental work. So glad you made it through so well. Your banana milkshake sounds delicious, the mushroom soup and peas, not so much. Just teasing.

Also, congrats on your weight loss. You may have noticed I haven't been posting my weight. I'm still walking and trying to eat as healthy as I can, but haven't had the nerve to weigh. We have company coming for the weekend, which means eating out and probably having wine, so might wait a few more days before I find the scale.

I don't know about y'all, but this heat has been ridiculous. Yesterday's heat index was 116 degrees!

Besh you have had your share of sadness lately. We have to turn that sadness into joy some how! I am glad you are posting here again. I've missed you.

Heat,heat, heat, here too. It's awful. This is longest heat wave I can remember. The good news is that I get a break from mowing! LOL This heat is tough on Sweet Pea but she is staying in front of her fan. I wish this heat would end.

This morning we put up 300 bales of hay. That's the first half. They came early so that we weren't doing it in the heat of the day. It always feels good to have hay in the barn.

Because of the heat, humidity and BUGS I have not been riding. Even at 4:30am the deer flies are out full force. It just makes riding not fun for Casey or me.

There has been so much wildlife activity here right now. We have a new batch of three foxes, a doe and her little fawn, a slew of baby woodchucks, turkey hens with all their little babies, a new brood of Phoebes and it looks like the Bluebirds are going to start a new family. I love this. This morning I saw the tallest coyote that I have ever seen. It looked like an eastern Timber wolf. We all saw him cross the pasture and keep going. He was a big one. I am glad he kept going.

I must finish my chores before it gets too hot to do anything constructive!

Dee - I try to donate anonymously whenever I can. There is no ego involved and I know I am doing it for the right reason. I believe George's dad knew best.

Suzanne - We have 1 big gray fox that must have kits to feed, as he is around a lot in the daylight - pretty brazen too. My neighbor is concerned I hope he doesn't do anything stupid to it - I tried to explain that it needed to feed it's babies. We also have 2 bucks (that dine on my hosta) and 1 turkey and her 1 baby - that we have watched daily for the last 6 weeks. We have a ton of beautiful birds this year too, that I am really enjoying. Aren't those woodchucks adorable? We have the fattest little guy that runs down my driveway every morning.

Ivamae - glad everything went well. Healthy is the most important one out the 3 so you are ahead of most LOL.

Wodka - 116 degrees - I would just die. I am crying about the temps being in the 90's. I need to move further north.

Dee - hope you enjoy the couple that will be joining in on the cruise. September will be here before you know it. I can't believe that July is more than 1/2 way over.

Tikanis - any kayaking in your future?

QOD - We have a fancy schmancy gala to attend tonight and then tomorrow a 60th birthday party. I am having company on Monday, so that means Sunday will be cleaning day for me.
