I'm doing a Visulization Diet - It sounds funny, but I've lost 3 pounds since my doc's visit, so I'm staying the course.

DonnaSNJ: I am so sorry to hear of your family member's death. How senseless. This kind of thing just really makes me sad - so preventable if people would just learn to CONTROL their emotions. I hope the guy gets the help he needs and justice is served properly.

I'll read and catch up and check back, but just wanted to touch on your family's sorrow. Staying on top of the prosecutor is the biggest job - call, call, call! Squeaky family wheels make defense attorneys squirm.

I'm dumb!!! What is a Visulization Diet?

Wishing everyone a great week. The weather here is very strange. Pouring rain one minute and the sun shining the next.

Was out for lunch with my daughter to-day and really glad that it was nice at that time. I don't like to get soaked.

Today was an awesome day. Bob got up early with me and we went out to pick up our order of Tangelos and on to the Mennonite Market... Did a little shopping and then back home again.. I sorted through some old coffee mugs and will be putting them in the spring yard sale for the Hope Fund at church..I know I will have tons more too. Christmas stuff especially.. I have waaaaay too much in the way of Christmas ornies.. I just keep the ones with sentimental value to them like some hand painted ornies my mom did and little gifts of ornies from a lot of really nice online friends I have met over the years.. Carolyn, It is so amazing when you can get more order in your life by purging what is just not working to the good in your life.... Hanging on to what is doing absolutely nothing but draining you either financially or physically or spiritually is not worth it... Kick it to the curb or give it away or sell it or donate it... but yeah.. don't let it drag you down.. sometimes things can act as an albatross around you neck..and will keep you from doing other things that really are worth while... besides, if you give it away or donate or so... then someone else may garner a really great blessing from it.. and guess what... your blessings will increase too..Just because you remove something from your life that is doing you no good, doesn't mean it doesn't have value.. to someone else it may be just fantastic.. It is turning cold for the next week, so walking will be brisk.. and not really long treks.. just a mile and a half.. and that's it.. toes get cold after that.. lol So ar this year I have walked every day.. and still watching my intake of calories.. so it's all good. Hi! I am here, just in a funk and slowly coming out of it. DD moved last week to Lousiana and it hit home that I now officially have an empty nest. At least while she was at school, I knew she could come home any weekend she chose. Lousianna is just so FAR away. But they made it safely (in a U-Haul towing her car!) and I have kept in touch with her almost daily. So the comunication is there, but I miss her. I have been keeping busy reading, scrapbooking and cleaning out DD's empty room. It has been so HOT here, that I have been content to stay inside with the AC on. It is supposed to be nicer tomorrow and I am going with DH to a car show (he will drive his 62 Nova). Besh - I have read so many books this summer that I would have a hard time listing them all. I did read "The Glass Castle" and loved your comment about it being a "real" memoir! LOL I too thought it was an amazing book and marveled that she and her siblings survived at all. I am reading "Thunderstruck" by Erik Larson right now. I love his writing and attention to detail. I also read "Isacc's Storm" and "The Devil in the White City". He must do an incredible amount of research before he starts a book. I just finished listening to "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. I have to say I cried. Other notable recent reads are, "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen, "Left to Tell" (about the genocide in Rwanda) by Immaculee Ilibagzia, and "The Butterfly House" by Marcia Preston. Next up, "Lean Mean Thirteen" by Janet Evanovich. DeeMarie - I have been doing exercises to strengthn my back and keep the muscles stretched and it seems to be helping. I can't sit for too long at the computer, so I haven't been logging on as often as I used to. I can't even sit and read for too long without needing to get up and stretch and move around. I love getting books on tape at the library and listening to them where ever I am. I am considering getting an MP3 player and using my library's resources to download books. Have you read LM13 yet?? Jen - Poor Erica! One time my DS broke his finger and I didn't take him to the doctor's until the next day. He also needed 2 pins to reset the finger. I felt like the worst mother of the year that day. Glad to hear she is on the mend. Patti - Glad Dave got a good report and you can go forward with your trip to TX. I never did get to see those pictures of your DGD! If you get a chance, email me. NHSuzanne - We had such severe storms the last few days too. Trees down in the neighborhood all around me, but we didn't suffer any damage. I am glad you got the brakes fixed and were able to go to VT. I don't have much of a backyard, but I did get some pictures of our local wildlife last week. Can you tell what this is a picture of? DH's is letting me know he is hungry, so I am off to the kitchen. QOD: Youngest DD went to a friend's house to spend the night. 2nd youngest DD had a summer slumber party here-I don't know why they call it that; no one sleeps and she has a party to go to today! 15 y.o DD was out last night with 18 y.o. BF - he now has his own apartment whcih she likes to visit. She starts pilot ground school today 8-6 for the next few Saturdays and Sundays. Oldest DD got a job running projectors at the local movie house, so she was working the last couple nights till 3 a.m. w/ the "Pirates" openings? I haven't yet. Me, I'm walking dogs, watering lawns, studying philosophy, ethics, and moral obligations, topped off with a load of meteorology and LOTS of laundry and weeding! I am going to spend an hour in my office as well--cleaning! DH is taking the bar study course 24/7, so things are running smoothly around here, really. GOOD LUCK, ERICA!!! Pictures, please! You are our "SS Daily Queen" mascot EVERY DAY! Zig~ Hope the funeral was okay for you. Those things are tough, but bring people together---and that's a good thing. Dee- Good to hear you're continuing the walking, but sorry about the pain of all. Syill thinking of your co-worker and her DH... Donna~ Did you get to go out to dinner? Raeanne: The questions on the body shape quiz didn't give many options for answers. I was an hourglass too, but have never thought of myself this way---I really think I have a boy's shape, sort of squarish w/ large shoulders. I was wondering how much stock to put in that quiz. Work-outs with enough weight to cause a fair amount of resistance is a great way to prevent bone disease and just plain be healthier---so I'm foregoing the femmy looks for that. Besides, as I get older, I sort of want to look like I can kick some @ss---lol!!! As well, I have really enjoyed increasing the weight at the gym from time to time--POWER! John-cats yet? Besh-CONGRATS on the 2.6 at WW Friday!!!!!!!!! I read about you unpacking your canvas bags and had to laugh---I have the same deal after an outting! Sounds like your weekend is FULLLLLLLLL! Be good! Milkdud~ What kind of swimming do you do? I've been hitting the pool for low key water walking twice a week. It's just a nice way for me to mellow out really. Maddie! Good morning! I loved the chairs, too! Too many to pick a favorite, but especially liked the cows, the bird (egret? heron) and the cattails, the child's chair with the fairy. What talented folks! Getting ready to walk. It is so humid so early. We're walking at 6:30 and it's already too warm. Slap me if I ever complain about being too cold (like that's going to happen - ha!) Have several new neighbors on our street - yesterday one of them wanted me to go with them to one of our garden nurseries. We had a ball. I came home and planted a yellow knockout rose, a pink muhly grass (the one that turns a vibrant, cotton-candy pink in the fall - so cool-looking!) some herbs (they were $1 - rosemary and basil) a pomegranate shrub - have no idea, so planted it in a planter until it gets some growth to it. Has pretty flowers, though! Re: WW. I gained for the first time since January - 8/10 of a pound. I had steak for dinner the night before - first red meat I've had in months. It was good, and I enjoyed it with a glass of wine, but next time I'll have that kind of meal on Friday night! suzanne, I hope your ankle is feeling better. That had to hurt! Mine has done that to me before, without any warning. Someone told me there's some kind of stabilizer that you can buy that will help strengthen your ankles. I've thought about checking into it, because I would like to be able to start running one of these days, instead of walking. We'll see. Better get moving. Hope it's a great day for all. Jan

OK, if I have time to check in, there is no excuse for you.

[[[[[[[[[[Donna]]]]]]] so sorry about your family loss. Our friend's cousin was a news anchor in Tampa years ago..with a horrible end to her life. So sad for everyone.

I have been listening to "Intuitive Eating" CDs, which accompany the book. It has really helped me identify emotional and mindless eating over the last week. I hope to use this to see if I can just stop dieting. No diet has helped me for long. This shows you a new way to look at all food; nothing is off limits. No guilt over what you choose, but I am definitely eating less during the day. Not getting on the scale either; I'll know if I can break through this mindless stuff. Also cut out 99% of the salt I used; I'm tasting food again. Really wierd but it seems to be clicking with me. Again, no diet; just trying to change my relationship with food. Will let you know how it's working from time to time.

I am NOT dieting any more...it's useless for me. I just cheat all the time. But I've been having fun with the Visualization deal.

I am really enjoying a book by Shakti Gawain called Creative Visualization. I'm enjoying the mental exercises and it is distracting me quite regularly!

Good morning.

More sad news from this end of the world. My sister in law, my husband's sister Linda, passed away yesterday morning from COPD. She had fought a long battle over the past 15 years. She would have turned 63 this month. So, so sad.

Donna, I am sorry for your loss. So senseless and tragic.

My DS and DIL are arriving tonight and will be here through part of next week, so I guess that is one bright spot! I hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend. Be good!

Besh!! I am so sorry for your loss! COPD is a miserable disease process! My condolences to your family.

DeeMarie, I owe you a PM big time! It has been such a very busy week, with after hours meetings, sick friend home from hospital etc. I haven't forgotten, though!

I hope you have a wonderful time in NC! I agree; We are so privileged to live in this wonderful country!

Good Saturday morning, everyone!

I've been busy this week cleaning out closets and drawers, super purging. I'm trying to get out of here early this afternoon, ahead of more thunderstorms - I hope!

Once again, I'll be staying where I can't get on my own computer, so I'm wishing everyone a happy July until I can figure out how to use my computer somewhere and check on everyone!

HAPPY FOURTH, EVERYONE-- We went to the town parade and community picnic this morning. It was not the same without the baby.

I spent the last 2 days crying on and off because this is the first holiday we're spending without Baby V. I hadn't any idea it'd be this way. I'm so sad every time I think about him. We should have adopted him. I don't know what I was thinking when I said no. I'm dreading the other holidays now.

((((((((((((BESH))))))))))))))) So sad for your husband and you... Thinking of you... Congrats on the WW...I'm so happy you feel good!
