Good Monday Sunshine's,

How was your weekend? Saturday it rained all day so I did housework. I spent all day yesterday mowing the fields and it was cold, cold and really windy! Ugh.

Hi Suzanne - it was cold, wet and windy here too, but not a total washout, the sun peaked out whenever it could.

Crazy getting last minute things together for the Girlfriends weekend - wish all my girls here were joining me. It really has consumed all my "free" time. I keep thinking that I am forgetting something big LOL.

I am off to art class in a few minutes and then running some "day off" errands.

It is still cold and windy but today the wind is lighter and it's nice and sunny.

Good morning. It's already 72 degrees here and heading up to 85. Sunny, too! Welcome, Dody and Groomingal! This is a great place to come for support, for weight loss and other things. I'm heading out in a few minutes to do my weekly grocery shopping. I keep a running list all week on my computer, so that by Friday morning, I'm ready to print it and go. I never used to be quite this organized until I started on Weight Watchers this time. It really keeps me in line to know exactly what there is to fix and eat. I'm still cooking every evening, and so far, most of the recent attempts have been successful! QOD: No plans so far. We did so much running around last weekend, and hubby is taking it easy this week but still going in to work after having a heart cath on Monday. So, he'll probably just want to lie around and watch tv. Thanks for the good thoughts for Aubrie. I'm really proud of my Dson and DDIL for remaining so calm about things so far. That's also the reason I was so happy to keep the girls for them Easter weekend while they go visit my other son and DDIL for a nice distraction. And, it has nothing to do with the fact that I LOVE being with my granddaughters! LOL McPeg, I had cabin fever yesterday, too. It was very overcast here and it just made me feel so gloomy. I'm thankful for the sun today! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi everyone! We've had a horrific storm system blow through yesterday. Got cedar boards outside for the garden - watched those fly by literally like matchsticks in the breeze. A few are now in trees. Listened to our new home roof creak in the wind - very unnerving. It was about 100km/hr all over parts of Ontario yesterday. The strongest wind I've felt since leaving Scotland (winter was gale force winds normally Jan-Feb). Been really focused with my usual - plants. Seedlings, seeds and plants. Did I mention my plants? Somehow managed to cook meals, clean the house and do laundry in between. Like most areas this spring - too frigging cold to do the normal plantings of cool weather crops. Haven't been doing too bad in the food department. Trying to remind myself everyday to drink water more, coffee/tea less. Actually picked up some generic orange juice (can't afford $5.00 per carton and up. Barely afford coffee but we've given up so much with soaring food prices there is a limit. Cooking better meals again. And still maintaining my weight in the healthy range - overall pretty happy with the efforts of the last 5 years. I'm the turtle in the race. Every winter focused on smaller goals and then maintenance until next winter. My success so far has been applying a gradual weight loss and making healthier habits lifestyle. And now - The Royal Wedding I woke up at 7am EST and caught the event live just as Will & Kate were returning from the church. My goodness she chose a beautiful gown - very classy. I couldn't help but smile the whole time watching and they kissed twice! So happy. The queen was even caught smiling a lot. Kate sure has a beautiful family. Her sister looked smashing too. They look in love. I wish them a bright future. I'm looking forward to the pitter patter of little feet too. Such a wonderful day. I popped onto the thread with newbie Cathy8091 - I'm hoping to coax her into joining our Merry Band! If you see her thread - please feel free to jump across and welcome her. We all need support and this is such a big family with big hearts! Have a fantastic day everyone. Hello Ladies, Fate saved me from the butterfinger, the machine was only taking exact change and I only had 3 quarters, so was 5 cents off.. I had some dried apricots instead :) Let me say it was no easy feat getting back in here. They no longer take payments by mailing them in, so I had to deal with paypal. Last year I gave up on them. I forgot my password from an old account and my credit card changed and I didnt keep the old one.. so after tons of email back and forth with them I gave up. This time I just made a new email and tried to make a new account.. again I had all kinds of issues and it ended up that my cookie settings were too secure. So after the 10th try it finally went through.. all that for $15! but its over and done with. They also toned down the security here at work so I can reach the site again, that could change again soon but hopefully im not here at the hospital much longer. Ive been lurking though, and keeping up a bit with whats going on. Its good to see some new names and always good to see the ole timers (no pun intended!). For thoes who do not know me; I found the site when I started on the SS plan about 5 or 6 years ago. Im a guy :) 34, and live in southern NH, about 60 miles north of Boston. Ive been overweight since about the 7th grade, got down to a slim 170 pounds when I was in the army and ballooned up to 260 about 3 years after I got out and stayed there a few years. Thats about when I found this gem of a place and since then lost and have maintained 30 pounds. I never expect to get back down to 170, I wasnt very happy or comfortable that thin anyhow, but I would like to get back down to under 200. Low carb diets never did work well for me, I lost a whole 1 pound on the Atkins plan, and nothing on SS after over 2 months on each. The way I did loose weight was cutting out the junk food, fast food, and pre packaged crapola, and exercising! Last month my Dr dropped the bomb on me and told me im a diabetic type 2 and my blood pressure is on the high side, so now I have more reasons than vanity to drop some weight. Ive made some pretty decent lifestyle changes so far, cut out a lot of salt, made the computer at home off limits (mainly because I sit in front of one all night at work), stopped smoking, but still have a few to go. I need to exercise more and get off the night shift. The problem I seem to have is that I work overnights, so when I get out of work im beat. It also makes it harder to find people to do activities with as im sleeping or working when they are off. I also work every other weekend so that doesnt help. So thats my story and im sticking to it. Whats been new? well im waiting to hear on a new job. I will find out wed/thur. Its days and I would be managing a product line for a petroleum company. They pay is nice and its a 10 min walk from my place, and it would be great to go back to a normal 8-5 job and have my weekends off. Im keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Ive been datting on and off, some good some bad, but always interesting. Ive been seeing the current vicitm since last july. Weve been taking it fairly slow and really only have been serious about it for the last 4 or 5 months. I was working an odd schedule last fall and she was busy trying to sort out her health, so we would be lucky to see each other once a week. Thats gotten a little better. There is more to the story, but its long and complicated, perhaps another day :) To help us get more exercise we just bought kayaks. The budget was kinda tight so I ended up getting a recreational one that is good for flat water paddling on lakes and easy rivers. Its a Palmico 100, and I got a good deal on it over the web by getting it shipped to a local store where I can pick it up soon I hope! Its a plastic boat and only 10ft, but I was able to pick it up with all the gear for just under $500. I only have a 12 ft wall to store it on, so that kind of limited me as well. There is a huge lake about 5 miles from my house where I can plop it in and get some exercise and a nice view. Its our towns water supply so there are no large boats, swiming or jet skis allowed, so its nice and quiet and has lots of wild life, a good portion of it borders the Audobon societys preserve. I cant wait to get up there and paddle around in the mornings. We also plan to do some river and camping trips this summer. Well that about wraps it up, a small book too! Good Sunday morning from SUNNY NH!! The rain has finally stopped for the time being. The water from the brook that borders our property is uncomfortably high. The danger of major flooding is still here as some major dams have yet to reach the highest point yet. We now have majorly high winds, about 50mph gusts so we can expect lots of power outages and downed trees. I did however witness a magnificent double rainbow yesterday afternoon as the sky was clearing! It was spectacular and I hope to get a nice picture of it. There was also a beautiful near full moon that I haven't thought about in over a week! Proof that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Patti, that's sage advice. DH and I always come to the conclusion that we are stronger together than apart and that we can get through anything together. We had friends come up from Westport, CT yesterday and it took them from 10am to 4pm because of all the detours. I91 was closed down in both directions! They probably wished they stayed home but we all had a lovely dinner together! Gretchen, I am thinking of you and your sister and hope all went well with her sugery. Check in when you can. Well, I finished this semester with my 4.0 still intact. Woohoo! The summer session starts in a month, and I'm starting to study the first chapters in the books. I have to. It feels weird not to wander around with books and flashcards! LOL!!!

Boy did our weather change - we went from AC to heat all in one week.

Maddie, congrats on that 4.0 - that is wonderful!! I am so happy for you. I know you will breeze through the summer session.

Suzanne, Penns Landing is a great choice to stay in Philly. It's conveniently located to lots of things.

Well, be careful what you wish for, I guess, as my business is BOOMING! I accepted the directorship of a brand new home health agency. We are in the "test patient" phase, trying to get ready for Survey (an inspection by the licensing board) so that we can officially open our doors. And although administration is not my goal in nursing (who ME sit behind a desk all day????) this an exciting learning experience for me. Besides this, my own little biz is hopping! I have more patients then ever!

Not sure if I mentioned this here, but my DS was accepted University! A whirlwind of excitement surrounding this milestone, let me tell you!

I have the best of intentions and will try to come back here later and tell you what I got for Mother's day....

Let's knock 'em dead out there today!
Oh, wait... not the best nursing advice I ever gave... ! Ha Ha!

Thanks for the congrat on my gpa. I hope no one thinks I'm bragging; although in a way, I am b/c I've never had this for more than a week! LOL! I want to graduate with honors (h3ll, I just want to graduate period!), so this is what I'm working toward.

As an FYI, my son at the tender age of 33 decided he wants to be nurse! He just passed his tests to become a phlebotomist so he can he can make a living while continuing school at night for nursing. He is doing so well. Finally at 33 he's pulled it together. I am so proud of him.

Donna, I am getting excited about our trip. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi, everyone.

Sounds like a busy time for everyone! It's hot and humid here, 83 but temp "feels" like 90. So much for springtime - ha.

Congratulations to Maddie for her excellent grades, to Donna, for her precious puppies, to suzanne for her son becoming a nurse. (I have a cousin, who, at about the same age, changed careers from CPA to nursing. He was a tremendous comfort to my entire family when my dad was dying.) Also, Tikanis, way to go on your booming business AND your new directorship!

Not much happening here. Real involved with family stuff, but nothing exciting. Except for the pending oil spill. Yesterday the odor was very strong, even though it hasn't hit our beaches yet. Very difficult on whose reporting to believe - time will tell.

Hope everyone's week is going well.

It's Friday, YAHOO!!

I'm here, Suzanne! No fun talkin' to yourself all day!! I think it's great that your son chose nursing! The opportunities for men in the field are amazing today. If he truly has a heart for it, he will never regret it. My DS has an ethno musicology major(cultural anthropology of music) and has been accepted to UCLA. GO BRUINS! LoL! This is the program that movie studios and theaters glean from to write, produce, perform musical scores for their major productions.One of the department heads just won a grammy, another is a renown jazz musician. This is quite an opportunity for him and we are very excited!

Maddie, I think you should tell your DH that you have to take a field trip to California and come work with me for a few days : ) Wouldn't THAT be a hoot??!!

Jan, the whole oil spill ordeal is horrible! I agree; it's so hard to know WHO you can trust to report accurately these days.

Raeanne, I will be thinking of you this weekend. I hope you girlfriend's have a BLAST! DO take pics, please!

It has been such a busy week. I cannot make any plans beyond a long bath and some mindless TV right now...

MIA here......work was a series of in-house and off-site meetings last week.

CONGRATULATIONS to Maddie, Donna, Suzanne, and Raeanne (enjoy the weekend)!!

Tonight is our DSD's bachlorette party. Her mom and I will be joining them for dinner across the river from Manhattan. Then DH will pick us up so that the youngsters can move on to the REAL partying. I spoke yesterday to DH's ex to see if she was interested in staying after dinner (they don't have reservations for dinner until 9:30!); she agreed that we are too old to start the drinking after midnight. LOL!!!

We are all so busy with the wedding plans; trying to figure out how to get my gown on board the plane without problems. I refuse to pack it and check it with luggage on the way to the Dominican Republic! No way!

OK, gotta run to the grocery store. I was out with old friends last night and only had 4 1/2 hours sleep. I need a nap before tongiht.

Happy Saturday! I love me some good weekend!!

Dee, your weekend sounds exciting. The wedding is in the Dominican? Wow! I wouldn't pack that gown either. Have fun tonight!

Well, I WAS going to get up at the crack of dawn and head for the bay to kayak, but "Jammie fest" won out and I am sipping my 2nd cup of coffee at the computer instead. Ha Ha!

I wanted to mention the GREAT gift I got for Mother's Day.
Tickets to a Crosby, Still & Nash concert-by-kayak on Mission Bay with my 2 kids and nephew! Is that a unique gift, or WHAT??

Well, off to freshen up this coffee, sort thru the junk mail, plant the pumpkins, run to the garden store, start painting porch furniture, change a bike tire, wash the car, go grocery shopping.....

Good evening.

Lots of rain and thunder in the background. Getting ready to watch "The Hangover." Spent the last couple of days with my mom. So much fun. We bought and I planted flowers for her, weeded, etc. She was so happy. We went to see "Letters from Juliette." Wonderful movie! We all wanted to go to Italy after seeing it. So romantic. Franco Nero is still sexy, at 68 years old! Is anyone here old enough to remember "Camelot" (I think the year was 1969?) when he played Sir Lancelot? Oh, gosh, he was handsome. And Vanessa Redgrave was quite a beauty, too.

Tikanis - I LOVED Crosby, Still, Nash & Young (tells you how old I was, when Neill Young was still in the group!) Such beautiful music.

Better get ready for the movie. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
