Ben, in this case it’s because the tag itself says Distant Drums rather than Distant Thunder. I do have Distant Drums but as you say they are so similar - and the color is already so variable - I probably would have just chalked it up to normal variation otherwise. My last mixup wasn’t so fortunate, it was when Abe was going out of circulation and I ordered 3 and instead got 2 Abes and a mystery yellow. But in that case all the tags were DA tags that said Abe so by the time it bloomed they were out of Abe and I just kept the one I got. I’m pretty sure it‘s Golden Celebration which I love. I’m not positive because it smells right but is a bit lighter yellow than I remember. Either way I’m happy with it so it worked out for me.

Like buford said above, Burling received my check on Monday. My roses were shipped on Tuesday. Thursday, eight beautiful rose bands arrived in a VERY well packaged box. All of the roses are well developed enough to plant straight into the garden, which I did with seven of them on Friday. The eighth rose, 'Carolyn Dean', is one that I have been wanting FOREVER and no one appeared to have ever put it into commerce (It is thought to be a sister seedling to 'Renae' and 'Dancing Doll', IIRC.) I ordered this because she had it (Yippee!!!), though I don't have a place in the garden for it yet. Into a pot she will go, to join the other roses that are living life in the pot ghetto ... for now. I will not hesitate to order from Burlington Roses again ... in fact, I plan to do just that later in the year. The roses I received were nearly perfect, the service was above and beyond, and shipping from California to Virginia was very reasonable. I ordered from Uncommon Rose - Pink Poodle, Star Dust and Lavender Lace. I can't say enough great things about Pink Poodle - non stop bloomer with Star Dust a close second. Lavender Lace started slow last year but her first flush this year was amazing - I can't wait for another flush. Her blooms are picture perfect. I just got Cherry Hi, Baby Doll and Mr Bluebird - so the jury is still out on them.

I think that I am just going to order some from Amazon and take my chances. It is just that, with so much attention focused on the. masks, that I am certain that some of that elastic cord is not as strong as it should be to hold a doll body together. It also needs to be able to hold a knot. I have sewn masks but I had very little elastic and opted for ties. Sometimes it seems like a slow slog through all of the info online. These two old dolls have such unique qualities that I would like to revive them. One of them is the Saucy Walker doll from the 1950s. She has the two little teeth behind her parted lips and she has such a beautiful face. The other one is a posable "dollikin" doll. They were both mine when I was little. I am at home with not a lot else to do, so, why not? Another doll was a Betsey Wetsey doll. She has the demonic look of cloudy eyeballs that seem to look both ways at once and matted hair. I sat her out on the front porch in a chair with one arm raised as if she is reaching out. I hope my neighbor has to look at her when he passes by and I hope it gives him the creeps. He is such a massively deplorable person who has actually threatened to "eliminate" us. ( I debated going to the local police about it, but I have no proof to offer that he issued a verbal threat. Had to put up security cameras.). If he has to look at my demented old Betsy Wetsey doll, I hope it gives him bad dreams. I find her amusing and am enjoying her in a way that I never imagined when she was my baby doll. I also found a few old Barbies and a Ken and Midge. What kind of a name is "Midge", anyway? Don't think that I have ever heard of it outside of Barbie world.
