To all fig enthusiasts who have been discusing my fig trees offered on ebay. as stated above I have defintly identified the tree formerly called BIG FIG as BRUNSWICK. The photos at the top of the page are mine. I nolonger display the leaf photo because it caused to much confusion. [ To clarify ]-- The leaf shown in this photo grew in deep shade. While very beautiful it is not typical of the tree. Leaves grown in full sun are much shorter while maintaining similar shape. My thanks to loslunasfarms for helping me identify this tree. As to souring I only have this happen ocasionaly. Generaly we get tons of perfect figs. [ Heres one for all you fig nuts out there. ] My BRUNSWICK fig tree is planted to close to a large plum tree and has adopted a leaning habit trying to get more sun. Aside from looking funny I have been concerned that as the crown developes it might fall over. It has been tied to the wood shed for about 3 years in an attempt to straiten it. This winter I got out the tree saw and cut a wedge out of the trunk at the 2 foot level and pulled it up strait closing the gap. Now I have a strait tree. I tied it in place and wraped the wound in duct tape. The plum tree will be cut back sevearly to allow more sun to my newly straitend fig tree.

An eBay gift certificate (or gift card that I have found you can buy almost anywhere - who knew?) is the perfect gift for me. I get so excited about choosing the perfect vintage item, and it's so darn easy for the gift giver. Put one on your Christmas list! Last night I got this tole tray on eBay for only $26.87! HOW can it be that only 2 people bid on this beautiful tray? eBay and CL are my favorite 'entertainment'. This will sound like I'm incredibly boring...I seldom go out to eat, haven't seen a movie in a theater in probably 6 years, don't drink or smoke, but I LOVE my vintage beauties from those places. I'll buy an inexpensive something to re-do, such as the $15 all original walnut Victorian rocker I got from CL last week, which will keep me entertained for weeks. I show the chair below the tray pic. This is how this tray was described in the auction - "Offered here is this BEAUTIFUL OLD TOLEWARE TRAY. IT IS ALL HAND PAINTED INCLUDING THE GOLD FREE HAND BORDER DECORATION. THIS TRAY IS PERFECT FOR FALL DECOR. IT IS APPROXIMATELY 13 X 17-1/2 INCHES AND WAS PART OF A CT ESTATE. IT APPEARS TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH MINIMAL WEAR ONLY ON THE BOTTOM. I WAS TOLD IT HAD BEEN IN STORAGE FOR MANY MANY YEARS." The $15 chair, shown in the CL photo, which I will re-finish and re-upholster.

Okay, you guys have convinced me! All the arguments you're using are the ones I would use with someone else, but wasn't using on myself. It's important to get exactly what you want once in awhile. It's important to fit in with your peer group. She's only young once. Wildchild, you're right that it doesn't matter why she wants it, just that she does. And Maddie_in_Ky, Sue_VA, and Paula_PA - you spoke to me, and I'd already thought of how I'd feel if she'd really sad that she didn't get the doll. It's one thing if we couldn't afford it, but that's not the case. So I'm getting a My American Girl doll with shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes, medium skin tone, and pierced ears. Just like Chloe - and that's what she wants. Ruthieg_tx and Nikki_nj, thanks for the tip about searching eBay and Target for clothes. I found a soccer uniform (complete with shin guards, soccer socks, shoes and ball) on eBay. It's the same colors as her soccer uniform, and I think she'll like that. So thanks for all the help in figuring this out! And I love that there's a hospital if she cuts the hair off.:)
