Primitive pattern for black, painted, sanded dolls wanted
Comments (4)Well, I can help with the painting part. Use normal muslin, then coat with 2-3 coats of gesso. Apply acrylic paint...when dry sand. Then you can coat with Krylon matte spray to protect it. If you want the doll soft bodied, do the arms and legs seperately, and mask off the neck and only paint the head. I hope I've helped a little! I also suggest you join the vintageclothdollmaking list at yahoogroups. So many techiques and links to share!...See MoreQOD: 2-utlity muslin uses
Comments (3)I've used it for backings for miniature quilts, quilted pillow top backs, table toppers and hot pads. I've used it for a couple of handmade dolls and doll aprons. Not for a serious large quilt, though. I have used better muslin often for regular quilt backings and some in blocks....See MoreBM Cream Fleece, BM Muslin or BM Bone White (= Natural Wicker)
Comments (4)Almost all my ceilings are painted Navajo White. I know that's not one of the new choices but just mentioning I've seen the color IRL. I have samples of Muslin and Natural Wicker. I like both colors but if my memory is working right, the Muslin has red in it which I remember seeing a slight pink tone when looking at painted poster board sample. Out of all the samples I tried, this one really looked pink to my eye. Natural Wicker was nice but was too light. I ended up actually not even using that room right now and when the time comes, I'm going to use Manchester Tan - which I know is darker than what you're talking about here. The room also gets lots of sun. I would definitely check out the paint samples in the room. A nice neutral you might consider checking out is SW Aria Ivory (it's a retired color). Miss Mustard Seed used this in her house and I really liked the sample I bought. If you look around on her blog more, you'll see a lot more photos of this color than what's shown in the link. Comments (6)You are so very welcome! :-) We tested a "gajillion" colors for the FR (this room is off the FR) until we finally settled on Mascarpone (one of my first choices, BTW, but DH wasn't too keen on it at first). Somehow I just knew that the Muslin would be the winner in the Guest Bedroom from the get-go. I did look at a two or three darker colors in there as well, just to be 100% sure, but really wasn't ready to go darker in there. Muslin is a terrific neutral color. We both absolutely love the Muslin. It looks a little creamier during the day, leans more toward khaki at night, but looks great either way. We are very happy with the Aura matte--have used it in every room we've painted over the past 5-6 years, incl ceilings (used matching colors to the wall colors in the satin finish on the baseboard molding in all rooms)....See Moreruthieg_tx
