They look fabulous and I'm sure they taste great as well, but I always think of tofu in a vegetarian way, and it's just silly to me, because I think it defeats the purpose of using tofu in non-meat ways. I haven't met many meat eaters that enjoy tofu

Thank you ynnej. The fennel was roasted. The fennel garnish was not. Roasted fennel becomes very soft and mild. The greens in the first dish was wilted lettuce. I love vegetables. I always incorporate veggies in my cooking.

Thank you ocnick. You are very correct about tofu. There is a reason why I post these series of tofu dishes. In another thread, it was mentioned that many people do not like the taste of tofu. Tofu is an acquired taste. By incorporating some meat, it makes it much easier for someone to develop a taste for it. When I make tofu for myself, I don't normally use meat.

Way back when,
(in the early 70's if I remember right)
When Tofu first began to show up in the stores around here,
And people my age (at that time)
Were getting conscientious about eating "right",
(Remember Adele Davis? "Let's East Right"?)
I decided I would try Tofu.
I tried it more ways than I can remember.
Never did learn to like it.
Finally decided I'd wasted far too much money
Trying to like it,
It was pointless for me,.

But I swear, Dcarch,
If you keep posting pictures like these,
I just may have to break down & try it again.

Thank you for answering my questions, Dcarch. I had tried fennel once and it wasn't too appealing to me. It was barbecued and undercooked, that much was obvious even to someone who'd never tried it before. I will have to try roasting it. As for the tofu- I think that pairing it with meat is a good way to get meat eaters to enjoy it more. I also have a sneaking suspicion that part of the reason meat eaters have such an aversion to it is because they feel like they need to make a choice- sort of like being a niners or raiders fan. It's either team meat or team tofu :) Or, then again, maybe it's just not their thing, after all.

I think I love fat, cheese, cream, deep fry, egg yolk ---more than Paula Deen, except I love other stuff even more.

By eating and enjoying mostly vegetables, fruits, fish, and lean meat, I can afford to binge on bacon, ice cream, Mac & Cheese, fried chicken, ----- whenever I feel like it and not feeling guilty afterwards.
