So pretty! No, these aren't Dolls of All Lands, they're Duchess Dolls and the box would have read "Dolls of All Nations". Hopefully, whoever wrote the country names on the cardboard are all correct, it looks like they are. They're in wonderful condition, but without the full box lid & bottom, the value does go down some. I just sold Gibson Girl and Cowboy in box on ebay and got $15.00 (plus shipping), but I think I just got lucky. It seems they're not as desirable these last few years. But if it were me, if you do use ebay, start around $10.00. And yes, all from the 50's. If you can, gently pull down at the back of their tops and you might be able to see their mark, I've attached a picture of that, but note, this date is a copyright date and those first ones had painted eyes, the sleepy eyed ones came out in the 50's

I am very happy to see that I'm the only one that has inherited the specific problem. I had a next door neighbor actually that left me her entire doll making collection because her kids were no longer interested in it I'm still going through it as I have just taken possession of it less than a week ago. So far I have come across between 20 and 40 of the Seeley's molds everything from teeth to tongues to heads to arms and legs I have green where eyeballs wigs clothes stands paint brushes slips porcelain and my collection even came with the American Beauty kiln model number AB18 serial number 408. I'm located near Houston Texas and will be more than happy to provide you with pictures or anything you might need. I have no preference whether it is an individual item or sold as a lot. I will try to keep you guys up to date on what it is I find but I have over 60 boxes to go through and so many individual pieces.

As I understand it, thrift shops etc., will still be restricted from selling recalled toys, etc. . . that's probably a good idea but how will it work out in real life? I work for a nationally known donations re-seller and we already check every donation against a list of recalls. It's gotten to be a huge burden because so many toys are recalled, but we have text lists as well as photos of the recalled items posted at the sorting area. Inspectors make the first sort, but anything that might be on the recall lists, like toys and some appliances and children's clothing that may be more than a few years old, is also checked by a supervisor. Recalled items go to a shredder/compactor so they can't be sold. We take this very seriously and every thrift shop or used merchandise shop should. I can't speak for small, local stores but I hope they are just as careful. Even with the changes it looks like we may have to stop reselling toys. Clothing that has no metal (buttons, for example) should be OK. The changes allow for items that are only made with natural fibers, like cotton, silk or wool, to be sold without testing so those of you who make quilts or similar items are OK. Because testing labs have to be certified and inspection equipment has to be calibrated periodically, companies would not be able to do their own testing. Any thing to be tested would have to be sent out to a certified testing facility. There's another good discussion about this same topic on the Quilting Forum. I included a link to that post below.
