Taliaferro - those plates are awesome. That's what I really want to do - hang REAL plates on the wall. I guess I just have to patiently start collecting. Patience is not my strong suit. ; 0. Alexa, that's a great idea, and very sweet of you. I'm not sure I want to paint anything on the walls but I could paint that design o something. I love architectural prints and prints of chandeliers and furniture. Maybe I'll create some new china pieces in that pattern, but on paper. I looked though the DR Eye Candy in the gallery last night and got some ideas for wall decor. As I was looking I remembered the 7/8s rule about filling the wall. That's why my art looks so lonely. I am not a fan of panels in a little kidâÂÂs room - too much in the way, and too much chance for them to hang on them, LOL! I would get the blackout roller shades as suggested, that could hide up high during the day if not needed, and be out of reach of the kids with no cords involved. Maybe go to the Pottery barn Kids site and look at the twill valances in Navy, which have a bit of white piping, or whatever other color you would want to pull out of the bedding. Those would hide the top of the window with the roller shades, and bring some color up high on the wall. The color of the valance would depend on your wall color, or what you are using for the accent color in the room. If you want more color up there, you could buy a matching madras panel and cut it up to make valances. Or, if money is not an issue, you could buy several of the pillow shams in the plaid and hang them from clip rings for valances. The matching panels are blackout lined, if you do want panels. They also sell plain color blackout-lined panels.

How about laminated sheet glass? It is a modern look but I think could look great with soapstone. Large 18 inch rectified tile (cut so accurate and straight so that grout lines are minimal) You would only have 1 tile per 18 inches of countertop. This would be minimal grout. Slab marble Semi gloss paint (easier cleaning) Stainless steel sheeting (not sure with copper accents?) I only have a backsplash behind my range (marble mosaic). The rest of my kitchen is painted sheetrock (highly scrubbable BM Aura paint) with soapstone countertops. It has been 3 years and looks as good as new. Also, keep in mind that you don't have to rush the backspash. It is one of the few things that can easily be done at a later date. You can have your outlets set for sheetrock depth and just paint the walls while you figure it out. When you decide on a backsplash material, it is easy to add the outlet extenders to bring them to the proper depth. The outlet extenders come in different depths for different tile dpeths and take only a few minutes per outlet to install (You may need longer screws). I am going on 3 years and still can't decide on the rest of the backsplash. By the time I decide, it will be time to redo the rest of the kitchen again. Good luck!
