This is little off subject I think but Joan talking about making things with toilet paper rolls & oatmeal boxes made me think of all the fun I had making forts, school houses, or a fine house- all out of the refrigerator or appliance cartons. The ones we got were around a new appliance & had wood frame & heavy cardboard or maybe even lightweight paneling with reinforced corners. They did well in summer rains(I added some kind of roof) & in winter dad had gotten 1 for me to retreat to in the basement. I put 3-4 of them together on a vacant lot & "taught" school, played house with other neighborhood kids or fought off cowboys or Indians as we often changed which ones we wanted to to be. There was a tree on the lot, so we could escape the fort & go up in the tree & be lookouts, of course the lake was right below so we had to watch"on land & sea" it was quite a job & we were very serious about it. Too bad I didn't have my camera yet! I was shy but always road after the appliance truck & asked if I could have the crate, I think we ended up with 4 on the lot, they were very heavy but delivered right to spot I wanted. So disappointed when torn down & new house went up in there. Dad really started something fun by bringing that 1st 1 home tho. Jan

You might try "I Offer" site where you can list your items free and others will contact you via the site and make an offer for your items. I've bought/sold several items on this site.

Red confetti, I think I must sound overly critical right about now. Its just this willbe my first sewn baby, and I want it special. a freind sent me to the site ,this doll looks jinda like what i want. I just cant pay for anymore patterns right now.We just back from a beach trip with kids, and hubby hand to plan another in a couple of moths to TN car show.So I really need a freebie.I checked books at McCalls, Simplicity, and butterick in Jo Annes, I hadnt bought patterns since last yr when they had them for .99 each. I was shocked to see $16 written on some of these. Some of the dolls were too primitive, and there were 1 or 2 others i seen that just looked cheap when done.I want to make dresses to fit, and some kind of carrying case,or purse,or backpack( that would open into a bed)and that would hold all the accessories. Maybe seeing this pattern I did like, that was sent by a frriend will helo: Tammy Here is a link that might be useful:

I think that I am just going to order some from Amazon and take my chances. It is just that, with so much attention focused on the. masks, that I am certain that some of that elastic cord is not as strong as it should be to hold a doll body together. It also needs to be able to hold a knot. I have sewn masks but I had very little elastic and opted for ties. Sometimes it seems like a slow slog through all of the info online. These two old dolls have such unique qualities that I would like to revive them. One of them is the Saucy Walker doll from the 1950s. She has the two little teeth behind her parted lips and she has such a beautiful face. The other one is a posable "dollikin" doll. They were both mine when I was little. I am at home with not a lot else to do, so, why not? Another doll was a Betsey Wetsey doll. She has the demonic look of cloudy eyeballs that seem to look both ways at once and matted hair. I sat her out on the front porch in a chair with one arm raised as if she is reaching out. I hope my neighbor has to look at her when he passes by and I hope it gives him the creeps. He is such a massively deplorable person who has actually threatened to "eliminate" us. ( I debated going to the local police about it, but I have no proof to offer that he issued a verbal threat. Had to put up security cameras.). If he has to look at my demented old Betsy Wetsey doll, I hope it gives him bad dreams. I find her amusing and am enjoying her in a way that I never imagined when she was my baby doll. I also found a few old Barbies and a Ken and Midge. What kind of a name is "Midge", anyway? Don't think that I have ever heard of it outside of Barbie world.
