That may be the problem... finding some that will be suitable for both. How about tent pole replacement elastic? It's pretty firm... but might be to thick for what you need. Do you have an Academy or Bass Pro nearby? They should have that.

Edit to add: If you would like a few yards of the kind of elastic I am using for masks, I can help you out. I have 2 1/2 big spools of it.

I think that I am just going to order some from Amazon and take my chances. It is just that, with so much attention focused on the. masks, that I am certain that some of that elastic cord is not as strong as it should be to hold a doll body together. It also needs to be able to hold a knot.

I have sewn masks but I had very little elastic and opted for ties.

Sometimes it seems like a slow slog through all of the info online.

These two old dolls have such unique qualities that I would like to revive them. One of them is the Saucy Walker doll from the 1950s. She has the two little teeth behind her parted lips and she has such a beautiful face. The other one is a posable "dollikin" doll. They were both mine when I was little.

I am at home with not a lot else to do, so, why not?

Another doll was a Betsey Wetsey doll. She has the demonic look of cloudy eyeballs that seem to look both ways at once and matted hair. I sat her out on the front porch in a chair with one arm raised as if she is reaching out. I hope my neighbor has to look at her when he passes by and I hope it gives him the creeps. He is such a massively deplorable person who has actually threatened to "eliminate" us. ( I debated going to the local police about it, but I have no proof to offer that he issued a verbal threat. Had to put up security cameras.). If he has to look at my demented old Betsy Wetsey doll, I hope it gives him bad dreams. I find her amusing and am enjoying her in a way that I never imagined when she was my baby doll.

I also found a few old Barbies and a Ken and Midge. What kind of a name is "Midge", anyway? Don't think that I have ever heard of it outside of Barbie world.

There was a sitcom a long time ago with another Midge, the show’s name will probably hit me in the middle of the night.

Years ago, I fixed my Bride doll’s (Madame Alexander) arms with big, thick rubber band. I think it’s still holding up, my granddaughter now has the doll.

I think "Midge" is most often a nick rather than a given name:

So, a nick for Miriam in this case--also a nick for "Margaret". As a name, I think it is a cute one; I like it lots better than Margaret and Miriam.

I wouldn't think of putting a 1950's Betsy Wetsy doll outside, even if she looked demonic. I'm sure there's a way to clean her cloudy eyes. Wish I had my dolls from the 50's.

I had a Barbie, Ken, Midge, Alan, Skipper, Scooter, and Ricky. Then later, Francie. I just passed them all to my granddaughters, along with all the clothes my mom had made for them. I agree with with the idea of the tent pole elastic meeting your needs.

Also, I noticed that Amazon now has a better supply of elastic than they did 2 or 3 months ago. I just bought 100 yards of 1/4" elastic. Back to making masks again, since it appears that many schools are going to require masks for staff and students in the fall....if they go back at all to in-building learning.
