Any Romantic CD Recommendations????

Last night for our Valentine's dinner, DH put on my favorite romantic CD: "Chris Botti- To Love Again". It's mellow, with great vocals by Sting, Michael Buble, Steve Tyler, among others. I love it and never tire of listening to it . . . but I would like to find some new ones to add to my collection.

Actually, we're heading off tomorrow for a romantic couples weekend and I'm hoping to pick up a couple of your recommendations for the trip . . . or while we're there.

I wonder if Barry White's "Can't Get Enough of You" CD would be over-the-top . . . hmmmm (LOL!).

Another CD we like is Enya's "Watermark", but mainly because this album and especially the song "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)" brings back a lot of memories of a very romantic vacation we took to St. Thomas.

So, my question is, do you have any great romantic CDs you can recommend me . . . and all of us here on this forum???

I'm sorry for not disclosing Rob's accident earlier. At the time I was simply too distraught to calmly discuss the accident. It took everything I had just to keep it together those first few days. Afterward, he did so well it just seemed silly to make a big deal about it. The bad news was that he came very close to being quadriplegic. He was body surfing at Ocean City when he got hit by a rough wave. He was slammed straight down on his head. Any other angle would have been - SNAP!!! - complete paralysis from the neck down, provided of course he survived which most don't. What really happened was a crack that went all the way through the vertebrae. Like I wrote earlier, he was in a neck brace and laid up for three months. The bone has since healed but Rob still has a sore spot where arthritis has set in. He really only feels it is he turns his head in a certain direction. His docs have told him to get used to it. So now you folks know the whole story. As for the books in addition to The Romantic Garden and The Impressionist Garden, I also have Impressionist Roses and The Magic of Monet's Garden both by Derek Fell. Other inspiring books include: Pleasures of the Cottage Garden by Rand Lee, English Cottage Gardening for American Gardeners by Margaret Hensel and Tasha Tudor, The Cottage Garden by Christopher Lloyd and Richard Bird (very beautiful garden plans in the back of this treasure), Theme Gardens by Barbara Damrosch, and Rosemary Verey's Good Planting Plans. Many of these are no longer in print but you can buy some used for next to nothing. The Romantic Garden, The Impressionist Garden and Impressionist Roses still remain my favorites. I also have all of the David Austin Books, and for a great reference text you can't go wrong with Classic Roses by Peter Beales. I've used that sucker so much the binding is beginning to come loose. Refrigerator recommendations pls! CD, SS, 36'

While they look very good and truely are smudge proof, I would stay away from ANY Electrolux regfrigerator! I was told that Electrolux products were good quality. How far from the truth! My refrigerator (3yrs. old, model:E23C75DSS4) has been a major disappointment. To address your question: It is supposed to a counter depth. That is absolutely not true. When the doors are opened all the way they will hit the edge of your counter top. Plus, 5. The doors are supposed to have a mechanism that prevents them from flying open past a 40 degree angle, unless you want them too. That "stop" does not work anymore. Now we have to hold the door in a position that will keep it from hitting the counter top. If you care to know, here are some other problems with this refrigerator: 1. The seal on the freezer must not be tight, because shortly after I bought it a had a pound of dead ants on the bottom shelf of the freezer. 2. It is very loud and runs almost constantly. My 30 year old GE was less noisy. 3. The coating, that is supposed to make the stainless steel smudgeproof works very well, but shortly after we bought it it started to bubble up. 4. The doors are not aligned. One is higher than the other and sticks further out. 6. By year two some sticky brown fluid had leaked out of the bottom right door hinge, causing it too creak very loudly when being opened. I get sick to my stomach when I think that I paid $2000 for this. It is not worth more than $500. Unfortunately due to the reputation of Electrolux in Europe we did not think that we needed to buy the extended warranty.

We bought a Samsung french door 29' and are waiting for Lowes to come back and get it. The door are curved and so are the handles which makes it stick out WAY too much in the kitchen. The leds are really cool UNTIL you put food on the shelves and then it looks like the lights are out. Kind of defeats the purpose of not having food rot in the back. Mechanically speaking we are not having problems. Just my FYI

I tried the Outlander series because the time travel aspect intrigued me, but the brutality and continual peril put me off that series. I think I only made it through the first two. Same here. I didn't even make it through the first book. It seemed like she just totally forgot about her husband in her real time. I felt like I was reading two different books/authors. Rob, have you read any Nick Hornby? Juliet Naked was great. I totally loved Juliet Naked. Especially good if you are of a "certain age". The only romances that I've read in the last few years are Rules of Civility, and One Day. I believe I may have cried while reading both.

Mtnrdredux: No I don't care for opera, but I do love Miss Billie and Nora Jones! We listen to Billie Holiday and Cole Porter a lot, especially when we play Gin on weekend evenings, for some reason. I guess it just fits the mood then, which is romantic . . . unless I'm winning pretty much every hand like I did last Saturday (LOL!).

Don't laugh, but my all time favorite album was one of Julio Iglasias' early one's. Maybe with Barbra Sreisand? I'm talking about the 80s here. Back then his voice made me swoon. :)

Roberta Flack. I can't remember the name of the CD, but it had all her greatest hits-including First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (my wedding song), Killing Me Softly and many, many others. VERY romantic and sensual too.

Favorite romantic music is Linda Ronstadt, For Sentimental Reasons, with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. This is an old album (1990) produced in the full on, orchestral style of the 1940s. Every single song is wonderful--- and its an eclectic mix from different eras: My Funny Valentine, When You Wish Upon A Star, Am I Blue?, You Go To My Head, and others. I bought the Cd in the early 90s and now have it on my iPod. It has been a staple of the past few decades. Our anniversary is Valentines Day and 2013 marked our 31st year together :-)

If you speak French, or just like French music, Canciones de Amor: Vol. 8 Francia, has a lot of beautiful music of many different types, including Edith Piaf, if you are familiar with her chanteuse style. And in the series there are albums with Spanish and Italian music as well as other types.

I love most of the recommendations above. The few I havent heard, I'm going to check out. I'll belatedly add Harry Connick, Jr.'s cd - "We Are In Love" (and some of his others) to the list.

Olyachick, honestly DH does not seem nearly as pleased with Passione as he was with Vivere! Since Passione was a gift from me he won't tell me he is disappointed, of course, but I sense that he may be! He does say that it is not Bocelli's usual style of music and that he lacks passion at times.
I'm afraid I can't give you my own opinion as DH has had the CD in his car since his birthday!

Thank you all again for the great recommendations. Sorry I didn't get back here sooner but many things happened here this past week and I've been swamped with dealing with them all! (They're all good things, though: our son will be getting out of the Army next month and is stopping by here for a few days on his way to his new civilian job; DD is bringing 5 kids home for their college Spring Break . . . at the same time as DS will be here. And my elderly parents have finally decided to sell both their homes in 2 states and move back near family. And now I'll need to fly down to Tampa and help them pack.)

But, I'm so excited to have the names of some good new cds to buy. Thanks again!
