Vacation was great, 85 and sunny everyday. My biggest decision each day was whether to lay at the pool or on the beach. I read 3 books and several magazines, took long walks on the beach and ate way too much funky stuff. But I am back and trying to get back on track.

Good to be back! I need to catch up.

I hope that you don't mind if I do the questionnaire later? I got a call on Thursday night. An ex BF, we were engaged & it just didn't work out but we are still very good friends, lost his 21-y.o. DD. It was as if someone had stabbed me in the heart. She had been a part of my life too. And, of course, when he hurts, then I hurt too. Dave was sweet enough to let me cry on his shoulder until I couldn't cry anymore. She had a clot that just let go, I guess, & went to her heart. It was very sudden & unexpected. He was divorced & they had lived in different towns. She was the baby & was everything to him. We leave in almost a week for our month long trip to TX.

Tikanis~Please, if you read this give me a call. You won't believe it but I lost your number again. And, after I told you there was no way that I could lose it. I cannot even say what happened.

I am enjoying the questionnaire.....

Sunday night at 11:07 pm I had to call 911 for my DH. I came into the bedroom and he was having a seizure of some sort. Turns out his blood sugar level bottomed out and it triggered a heart attack (which was mild). The emt got his sugar level up a bit, but did not like what the heart monitor looked like and told me he had to go to the hospital. He had an irregular heart beat and it finally got itself straightened out sometime monday morning. He is fine and home now. He was in the hosptial for a couple days and had the heart cathe done and was released Tuesday evening. It was a long couple days for us. It was a wake up call and I am just thanking my lucky stars he is ok and still with me. He is now on heart meds to keep the beat regular and will be following up with a heart specialist next week. I am so glad this episode is behind us. He has been working with his regular doctor on his high blood pressure and diabetes, so now whe have this to add to his list of aliments....

Hello all,

Lynn, I am glad that DH is okay and doing well. Whew. That could have been a disaster.

Last night while I was out to dinner with a friend, all of my beloved chickens disappeared. Something got to them and they scattered. I was up until after midnight searching, in vain, for them by the light of the moon and flashlight.

This morning I was back out before dawn searching and calling and I found four of them dead in the pasture all within a very close radius. Three had thier heads ripped off with bodies intact. The 4th was just dead. General consensus is this was the work of a weasel. Searching my property I found the the remnants of two more hens. I've lost six and the other 8 are no where to be found. I have no idea if they are dead or alive.

I stayed home until noon searching the property for more clues and talking to neighbors but found nothing new. I came to work hoping to be distracted which I am somewhat but I am just devastated and my heart is breaking. I cannot bear the thought of never seeing any of them again.

Oh yes, I've known all along that this could happen but I was never prepared for the violence and horrific nature of this act. My only hope now is that some of them are hiding and afraid to come out (who would blame them). With any luck some of them will surface but right now it looks pretty bleak.

I had to share my grief. Say your prayers for my beautiful little birds.

Anytime that we have lost our pets to death, I have been helping my Mom with her health & Dave has taken care of things. I honestly don't think that I would deal well. Dave & I still cry when we talk about the 2 dogs & 2 cats that we had to leave behind b/c they won't let us have them here. That is a BIG reason that I want to go back to TX where we can have our own place, be close to family, & have pets--(more children). LOL

Raeanne~This is already one spoiled baby! LOL She is the first grandbaby on both sides. She is only 6 hours from her DM's DPs so they get to see her way more often & of course they have done their share of spoiling. Of course, you wouldn't know that the DGSs weren't my biological ones b/c I spoil them as much or more. There is something about it--I just cannot help myself. We are going to babysit the youngest DGS while his momma is in school. That should be fun. (You should see the packages that we are taking for Valentine's Day for all 3 & then DGS #1's b'day is on Valentine's Day. Close to DeeMarie's!

Please remember my DS on the 8th. That is when she has her surgery. They are going through the front of her neck to remove a vertabra & there is a slight chance that she might not make it & a slight chance that she would not be able to speak again.

Dee~Sorry that you are under the weather. That is never any fun.

I'll try to get back on here tomorrow before the Super Bowl starts--if I have finished with my packing. I have most of it done but am waiting on some clothes to dry. Since we have to go to a laundromat, I don't like to have my clothes dried there & prefer to have them hung up to dry. Have a Super day everyone--you must be since nobody is posting. :) Patti

Patti - My sister-in-law had that same operation. It was a long recovery and it took her awhile to get her strength back, but she is glad she had it done. She was in so much pain before. Here's hoping your DS' operation goes smoothly. Have a great trip to TX! Oh, we have had to postpone our trip to FL until the first week of May. Too many schedule conflicts and the ticket prices were outrageous.

It is cold and bitter outside today. I ran to the store to pick up ingredients for lasagna and potato soup. I plan on staying home tomorrow and playing in the kitchen.

Marci~Thanks. They told her that she would be in the hospital overnight & back at work in a week so I will know if that doesn't happen that it isn't anything to worry so much about. She was dropped on her head when she was in 2nd grade & had a bad concussion & has been in pain for a long time too. She is only 21 months younger than me. We plan to have a great time in TX & NM.

Tikanis~I wish that we had had the chance to talk before I left. Perhaps when I get back. I know you must be busy b/c you haven't even been posting.

I'm packed except for what I will need tomorrow a.m. & will pack then. I'm taking my DF one of Bill Bryson's books. LOL I hope that he enjoys it. DMIL is still in the hospital. I should be able to post from DM's house & DS#1's house--if I let go of the baby long enough. I'm going to get ready to watch the game. I hope that everyone enjoys the time that they have to the fullest! My friend is still having a very rough time. Enjoy the next week & I'll try to pop in the week after that if I can. Patti :)
