I saw the cutest banks.......

It has been ages since I've posted here and it feels good to be back. Things have changed a bit around here, but the site is still a great area to share and receive ideas.

Here's a good last minute craft gift idea.

While out shopping this weekend I saw a selection of banks. They were jars, about 6-7 inches high. The one that I thought was adorable was painted pink and had "Girls night out" written on the front. The lid had a band of girly charms on it. Other banks had things like "Mad Money" and "Vacation Funds" written on them. For girls you could also hot glue a band of boa feathers or something else frilly around the rim/lid. For young teens you could hot glue a Hot wheels car to the lid and write on the Jar "Gas Money". Just get creative. :)

Reminded me of years ago when I painted a Mason jar white and painted black cow spots on it......and wrote on it "MOOOO LAAAA" My grown sons STILL use their banks to this day!!!

I've seen ceramic banks with those sayings. I think the Mason jar idea is great. BTW Look forward to lots of posts from you !!!

Cute ideas, LGail! Are you making banks for your grandsons?

I should make a bank for my (grown) daughter... for scrapbooking supplies, or for her beading supplies, or for her gardening supplies, or ... Hmmm... guess I need to get off this computer and actually DO something! (LOL!)

Tornado season has just begun. Luckily as it has been in the past, I am inbetween, so get missed, but they have been extremely close to me. Was at the gym once and everyone had to get in the center hall. And again at a local mall, we were in a store and they closed the doors and wouldn't let anyone out. They are close, very close at times.

Just thought of a safe container to make banks for kids... those rectangular cans that the General Foods International coffees come in... they have a removable plastic lid that would be easy to put a coin slot in.

[I drink a lot of those coffees and am always thinking the cans SHOULD be reused for some craft!]

I have 2 banks of my own.One i made from an ice tea container.At least i think that's what came in it.When i saw it i thought it would make a nice snowman and that's what i saved it for.Never made the snowman,but use it to keep my recycling money in.The other one is a very nice jelly jar and i save the state quarters in that one.I save a lot of containers, for other uses.Like the big nestles quick one,or the hersheys cocoa,and the inrernational coffee ones.You can decoupage them and then you'd never know what they used to be.As you can probably tell,i love to recycle!!!

The banks sound like nice gifts for my office co-workers. I have lots of jars. I to save all kinds of containers. Coffee creamers jars make good snowmen, parmesian cheese containers, bread crumb cans, boullion jars, peanut butter jars. They make good gift wrap too the new press and seal wrap makes them very handy to seal if you want to pack food items.
