My DS gave me a jar of garlic jelly this Christmas. Do you think it would work on brie, like pepper jelly? I know it will be a different taste, but will it be ok do you think? And it has been years since I have done the brie thing....how long to heat, what temp and when do you put the jelly on?
Janet, I don't know why not. I had some Brie last week..Just cut off a hunk and nuked until soft (seconds)..then poured some Peach Brown Sugar Rum Jam beside it and drug rice crackers through it... Yummy... I was told to use the most "plain" crackers, to let the brie stand out.
Oh...I don't think so!...Brie to me is a "sweet" cheese....and I much prefer it not baked as that makes it runny and oily...but I think Brie is best with fruits and sweet-ish crackers and breads. I wouldn't like it with garlic jelly. I would like the garlic jelly with just plain cream cheese and a cracker...or a sharp chedder....or a blue. But not Brie. Linda C
Toast a garlic, sesame, onion or everything bagel, slather on cream cheese and top with garlic jelly. That sounds awesome to me!
Or use it as a base for a glaze on pork..... Several years ago someone on here posted a pork tenderloin with pepper jelly recipe (Cindy Mac maybe?) and I bet the garlic jelly would be good withthat too.
I agree with Linda and think of brie as a sweet cheese. I've served it with pepper jelly, Jezebel sauce or just honey and apples. I think the garlic jelly would work if it was sweet rather than savory.
