Poured foundation snowed overnight
Comments (3)You didn't mention the recent day and night time air temperatures so its not possible to know the effect on the concrete but if the day time temperature during the pour was above freezing there should be no problem because the concrete was warm from the mixer, the snow and the forms will help to insulate the concrete, the chemical accelerators will greatly shorten the time needed to reach adequate strength, and the heat of hydration from the on-going chemical reaction between cement and water will continue to generate heat. I'm surprised anyone would be using board forms but it will provide a great old time wall finish if there is an unfinished basement....See MoreConcern about new poured foundation in the rain ..
Comments (3)According to the PCA, concrete slabs on ground need 7 days to cure at a temp above 40-degrees F. Moisture and water along the edges of a slab on grade can, over time, undermine or weaken the slab, particularly if the soils are expansive which many are in the Bay Area. Step one should be to create positive natural drainage away from any and all slabs, new and existing. Step two is to use gutters, downspouts and splash blocks to carry away roof run-off when the new structure is complete. If your topography is such that there is substantial surface run off which fall against your foundation, you may want to consider a subsurface gravel and tile drainage system to pick up and remove the water against the foundation. Hope this helps....See MoreHow to Transport Front Load Washer in Freezing Weather Conditions?
Comments (3)Run the machine briefly on a warm fill with the supply hoses disconnected so residual water in inlet valves can drain out. Then pour some RV/marine antifreeze directly into the drum so it mixes into whatever residual water is in the pump/sump. Can run it on Spin Only for a few seconds so the pump runs to mix the water and antifreeze. Run a cycle when the machine is put back into use to flush out the chemicals....See MoreNewly poured foundation has cracks
Comments (5)Concrete cracks. Usually relief cuts are put in to focus the cracking down in the cuts. if you are planning on other flooring you are likely okay. As long as the cracks don’t open up you are fine. Can’t see / comment on the vertical ones which may be more problematic...See Moreworthy
