Master Closet Pics and Ideas Please
Comments (20)beautiful, marciab! Chisue, that's funny that you mention the shoes. When we moved into the current spec home, the master closet had a built in cubby for 50 pairs of shoes. Since we take them off at the front door, I never used it, and took out 2 of the vertical partitions, and did a makeshift tshirt/pants shelving area. Now, we're building, and we have both a hall closet and a mudroom designed just to store everyone's shoes by the entry. We're forced to comply with the Greenpoint checklist for new builds, and you actually get one point for having a place to put shoes in the entryway (better indoor air quality, I guess)....See MoreHelp with Master Suite Over Attached 1 Car Garage Addition
Comments (11)Essentially, you'll have a box of 15x20, right? The bedroom is one is of the 15x part (maybe 15 by 13); and the closet and bath are the other end of the 15x (say 15x7 divided between the 2 spaces). If you do a walk in closet, you don't want it any narrower than 6 feet, but 7 is better (clothes take up 2 feet of space on either side, and you need to be able to walk in.) A lot of times, a reach in closet gives you more hanging room, esp if your closet will be shallow. A 13 foot wide room is wide enough for a king bed with small night stands on either side and nothing else. If you turn the bed on the 15' wall, there is more room to either side, but less at the foot of the bed. (a bed is usually around 7 feet long, so if it is on the short wall, you have lots of room at the foot of the bed.) The best thing to do is draw out your box on graph paper, cut out a few furniture graph papers and arrange them a few ways to see what looks like it will work best for you. Glad you will be using a contractor. Also, as you get bids from contractors, you will learn what can and can't be done (the tie-in to plumbing for the bath will be the trickiest/most expensive part)....See More2 car vs 3 car attached garage price
Comments (52)> Friends, I really need your help. I want to buy a car. More precisely not only myself. For the whole family. Have you considered hiring an architect? An architect can design and build a car you will love. He will interview your entire family to gather the requirements and will decide the proper car orientation. Your crazy aunt Sally wants a space on both of her sides for her favorite cats - no problem, she will love our new design. Space for your pet hamster - we will provide the wheel. 60 Gallon aquarium in the center for your pet shark - what a great idea. An architect can help you avoid costly car mistakes like: closets with no window, the gas chambers, wardrobe closet at the end of a bathroom. Comments (37)Basics of closet design, if you see the wall behind, there is room to store vertically. Good news: There is a lot of unused space in the closet. A lot of potential. With a closet system, there will be so much more function & storage space. I have design closets for 15+ years. I suggest getting a local closet company for an estimate. Probably can send the layout & get 2-3 estimates. I prefer the hanging systems to keep the option of touching floor or not. That way, if I do not want to touch floor, things can still be store under hang if need be. Make sure the shelving is adjustable, because life adjusts & so does stuff. Make the shelving in the corner deeper. Avoid wire. Things fall through wire & it's just not as good for so many reasons. Watch out for long planks ordered online, I tried, but often the material would come in warped, damaged, etc. I also have done wood, getting the holes to make adjustable shelving is no fun. It was more of a pain & took too long & did not turn out as nice. That's why I prefer using local closet companies who provide the material. Hanging systems need to be secured into studs & there are general rules in widths, so shelving does not warp. I love well functional, adjustable closets. Once you have one, you'll just wish you had one sooner:) slat wall example of gadgets that would be useful to your particular items. or get some white shelving with hooks...See Morenanj
