White french door refrigerator---Samsung or Kenmore?

I want to purchase a white french door refrigerator but am bewildered by the options, reviews, complaints etc. I am looking for (1) white (2) Do not want external ice/water (3) has good rating (3) not too deep. I know Samsung and Kenmore have white french door and that Samsung has good reviews. I don't know whether kenmore has good reviews. Any other options?

I did a lot of research this summer and bought the Samsung white FD frig with water and ice. Kenmore was never up there on my list (didn't like their water and ice set up space). The GE and Samsung looked like they were built by the same company. I'm very happy with it but it's been only a few months.

The Samsung and GE look very similar, but if you compare the drawers and movements of the two, the GE sounds really flimsy. I've usually seen one of the drawers cracked on the GE, never on the Samsung.

And, I really like the easy-open of the bottom freezer on the Samsung. Much better for my tender sciatic nerve! I'd initially rejected FD fridges after visits to appliance stores where I'd twice I'd left with a backache from pulling on the freezer door handles. ANd that was with the drawers empty! So, if you're young and healthy, either might do fine. But since my back injury 5 years ago, the Samsung is the only one that I could safely open.

It's not the refrigerator brand that determines compressor longevity (or so my fantastic appliance repair guy tells me) it's the installation. On a record high temperature day in July, we were his seventh service call for the day. "Counter depth- skip it", he said. "Anything where the compressor's upfront pushing the air out fails sooner or later. If it's a lower end fridge with one compressor instead of two, count on sooner." He added, "get a regular depth fridge and give it some space back there. It's no accident that I get at least five calls a day to replace compressors when the temperature hits triple digits. You want a minimum of 3" wall space behind the unit, 5" is better. People used to do that when the idea was that a fridge stuck out a bit. A wall vent at compressor height would be even better. Give it room to breathe." He likes kitchenaid, said he has fewer repair calls on that one. He had trouble 2 years ago getting parts for Samsung in a timely way. I don't know if that's still the issue, my appliances haven't needed service since. Diva

Hello all, My wife and I ordered a Maytag Ice2O FD fridge a month or so ago (for a very good price), but were never really thrilled with how the fridge looked - don't like the appearance of the ice/water dispenser. What we did like was the freezer drawers. We loved that the drawers are not wire baskets, and that they both come out when the freezer is opened. After hearing of many problems with the circuit boards on the Ice2O, we diceided to look into other brands. As our other appliances will be mostly GE, we were looking at some GE FD fridges. The PFSS6PKWSS seemed to be the best of the bunch, including the new models with 2 separate freezer drawers. We noticed that on some of the fridges, the deli drawer smacks right into the french doors if the doors are not completely open (which we will not be able to do due to a wall on one side of the fridge). The PFSS6PKWSS has a deli drawer that opens up with the french doors open 90 degrees, but my wife was upset that the shelves did not pull forward like on the Ice2O. We knew that Samsung makes the PFSS6PKWSS for GE, and found the Samsung RF267AARS at a Best Buy to look at. We verified that the interiors are exactly the same, except for clear plastic bins on the french doors (they are white on the GE). After pretty much deciding to stick with the Ice2O because of the pull-out shelves, we happened to tug on one of the Samsung fridge shelves and voila! It slid forward, a few inches farther than the Ice2O shelves even! I think we have decided to go ahead and cancel our Ice2O order, and go with the Samsung RF267AARS. So, you Samsung owners out there, how have the fridges been working, how quiet are they, and do you had any complaints about them? Thanks for any replies.

LG makes the Kenmore frig. Maytag and Amana are also the same. I posted this in response to an earlier message of yours, but just in case you missed it: Ericpd - I was set on purchasing the LG also and then found the Samsung after reading these posts. I have been most happy with this FD w/ice & water in the door. We both think our produce is lasting much longer than it did in our previous frig (and we never thought it had a problem). I bought the SS Samsung at Lowe's (apparently they used to only carry the titanium). I was able to get the price down because by that point I was also considering the Amana. Lowe's doesn't carry the Amana but dropped the price on the Samsung $400 to be competitive with the Amana price I had from Sears.

We got a white LG this Spring and we're very happy with it; however, we don't use the ice maker (one of my DH's idiosyncrasies - he likes to make his own) and I recall some reviews saying that it was noisy. Also, we were limited in our selection by the size of our refrigerator cove which is 33" and can't be widened. So while we did a lot of research before buying it, we focused only on the LG and other models which would fit - mostly top freezers rather than other French door models. HTH.

I was shopping for Fridges today, and according to the salesperson I spoke with, Samsung makes one of the GE models--not all of them, but at least one. (I didn't take down the model number). The Samsung model was much larger and much more expensive, but they definately looked as though they were made by the same company.
