Samsung 29 cu ft Fridge - How did you make it fit?

I am in the process of picking kitchen appliances for my new kitchen. I saw the Samsung 29 cu ft fridge online and I think I am in love..... However, the size of the thing is daunting. So I decided to look at the 26 cu ft (next size down) and the exterior dimensions were the same.....

I would have to put it at the end of a run of cabinets, but it would still stick out into the room. Or I can try to recess it, but that will throw off dimensions in other rooms.....

Those of you who have the 35 x35 size fridge (or other large fridge), how did you place it in your kitchen? Did you recess it into the wall? Put it on it's own wall? Leave it as a large monolith in the middle of the room?

If you can't recess it in your configuration, you can always make the countertops 30" deep by pulling the cabinets 6" out from the wall.

The bigger question I have is how to get in in the house The dimensions are larger than most doors.

Thanks jagzand and fwhartford. We've had the fridge only since the beginning of November, and so far so good. I did get the extended warranty from Sears, but I can cancel it any time during the regular one-year warranty period and get a full refund. I figured I would see how the fridge performed for the first few months, and if all seemed well, cancel the extended warranty. I am sure the Samsung is much more energy efficient than the fridge it replaced-- most of the time I cannot hear the compressor running at all. The 29 cf replaced Samsung's 26 cf model, and I think that one had high marks for reliability. Jagzand, the other appliances are a 36" Bluestar RNB range, a GE Monogram Advantium, a GE Monogram ZET oven, a 48" Futuro Futuro hood, a Bosch 800 series DW (not pictured), and a 24", 10 CF LG fridge (I use it as a "kid fridge"-- same footprint as fridge drawers but a whole lot more room). Very happy with all the appliances, though I think at times I would have been better off with a 30" Bluestar, as the 36" has a gigantic oven cavity. Glad I went with the fatty fridge!

ingenious way to get a big fridge through a doorway - without removing doors or handles! I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and just moved 2 fridges (side by side) through smaller doorways Here's how: Move the side of the fridge with the door hinge about 2-4 feet away from the outside of the doorway--enough so you can open the door of the fridge Put a 4 wheel rolling dolly under the fridge OPEN THE DOOR OF THE FRIDGE With the door open, Roll the fridge part way through the door way, rotating it as needed IF IT IS A SIDE BY SIDE, OPEN THE OTHER DOOR OF THE FRIDGE THAT IS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR Roll the fridge the rest of the way through the doorway, rotating as needed. There you go!

I just bought and had installed a whirlpool side by side fridge the only on that would fit in my space. I waited 7.5 months to get it because I needed black , 2 days in the noise is driving me nuts it is the motor I can tell shuts off when either door opens . I locked the ice water dispenser on the door and it stopped but was that a fluke? but the others here want to use that feature. I looked into ways to sound proof the noise and will try that , like putting a rubber matt under it and sound proofing material behind it on the wall as what I have read the motor noise is in the air ( make sense who knows ) , the decibel reading , using a phone app, was 52 - 69 that was holding the phone in different places. I emailed my rep no response and now I know why they are all louder I think, I miss my 24 year old one ( except the way it was too cold inside who wants fresh frozen veggies ha ha ) why does this have to be very upsetting.

Counter Depth Fridge less than 18 cu ft??

I should have been more clear on my initial post. The drywalled opening is 24" deep, 32" wide and wide open to the ceiling, which is 9'. The LG would work, though it's considerably smaller than the 18.2 Frigidaire (depth including door and handle is 32 1/8")that the designer ordered. The issue is this fridge will protrude into the room by about 8", right next to a hallway that leads from the laundry room to the kitchen. I was just hoping to find any fridge that was closer to counter depth without breaking the bank. Someone suggested an all refrigerator model by Frigidaire, which is 28 5/8" deep.

We did the "homepro" option. Our Samsung will be (very soon, I hope) at the end of a 10' leg of the kitchen. We designed the kitchen to have 30" deep counters on this wall with appliance garages underneath the upper cabinets. This way we have about 18" of counter space in front of the appliance garages and the Samsung will line up with the front of the counter.

I guess if it doesn't fit though my door then I don't have to worry how it will look in my kitchen.... I am off to find a tape measure.....

You can take the doors off to get it in the house. There are detailed instructions to do so. The freezer drawer also has to be removed, but then it is accessible through any standard entrance. Worth the time for extra 3 cu. ft.

I pulled out adjacent cabs. The pulled-out cabs were kind of necessitated by a 135 degree angle in my wall. I pulled out the adjacent base cabs 4 1/2" and the fridge and pantry cab next to the fridge 6". So, the alcove for the fridge is 30" deep, and houses the fridge case. I am enjoying having my range pulled out 4 1/2" (more room for bigger pans on the back burners), as well as my extra-deep counters on either side of the range. I did have to get an island-mount hood to accommodate this set-up, though. Love the Samsung. Not so sure about my tile!

I remember your previous posts regarding the concern about your tile. I think there is quite a contrast between the dark cabinets and the countertops with the tile providing a balance between the tow. Each time I see the fire and ice tile up, it is in a much different setting than the last and I really enjoy each persons vision on how to use such a beautiful material. Now....
with regards to your use of it, I love it. It may not have turned out exactly how you pictured it as I know you had to make a few changes from the original layout. I think you did a wonderful job though. The completion of the paining with the wonder materials you have used make your kitchen one of the standouts on the board right now. I doubt if you are going to change anything about it at this point, and I would really enjoy seeing the whole kitchen posted on completion in the FKB with al of the required details.
You have a fabulous space and I for one have appreciated your allowing us to view it and share in your struggles for acheiving the "perfect" kitchen.

Thanks, footballmom. I don't know why I am in a bit of a funk about this kitchen right now; I guess it is the inevitable let-down after being so obsessed with a project. You are sweet to be uplifting. I need to focus on the positive-- like the Samsung!

Morton, that is the best looking modern kitchen I've ever seen. Often modern kitchens look cold or plain. Your kitchen is warm and inviting. You should be proud.

That's what we're getting. We'd already planned to recess it into the pantry. The shallow pantry wall produced by doing so will have 12" cabinets floor to ceiling which will match up to the cabinet run there.
