Wolf 36" ag or dual fuel range

Hi. We are at the point in our build when I have to pick appliances. I am definitely getting the Wolf combi steam oven but cant
decide between the Wolf 36" all gas range or the dual fuel. The ag is a new model this year I think. Its basic no timer/self clean. The dual fuel has lots of bells an whistles but is it worth the extra $2,500. It seems like most of my roasting/baking will be in the steam oven. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I would go with AG, much simpler technology, plus you will already have an electric oven and all the electronic contols with your combi.

Will the AG bake evenly? I often bake large amount of baked goods and would love to have the ability to fill the oven. My current 30" oven does not bake evenly. The dual fuel has two fans, the AG still has one. Thanks for your input!

Wolf 36' gas range or lesser dual fuel?

Get the Wolf gas range. With the gas range you get the infrared broiler which will perform better than the electric broiler element in the dual-fuel. Also, you already have an electric oven with electric broil going into your wall. The dual-fuel, while slick, will be more costly and complicated to fix. To me, simpler is better when it comes to a range, and I would prefer to have the option of using a gas oven for baking anyway. There is no way I would turn down a Wolf just to get dual fuel in an inferior model, particularly when the chief "advantage" of the model is something you already have in the wall.

I think the electrolux is fairly new compared to the Decor or Wolf. But someone who owns one would be a better judge. Also, not sure if you are comparing apples to apples. I don't think it is in the same price range as the decor or Wolf. With all that said, I searched for 6-9 months. Read every single forum on this site regarding ranges and talked to appliance store who sold many of my choices and this is what I will be receiving shipment on next week for my new house. The WOLF 36" DF range. I honestly looked at the Dacor, THermador, Viking, and I forget the other one but very similar to the decor. I liked the look of the Thermadore better then the Wolf, but there had been some small issues with the Thermadore and I just couldn't find any negatives with the Wolf. Hope this helps.

Have you ever watched steam or smoke rise? The farther up it rises the more it drifts off to the sides as well. If you have a vent flush to the ceiling, you will most likely miss most of the steam/grease/smoke as it's already drifted out of range of the vent...and you say you have high ceilings so it would be even worse than 8' ceilings. Yes, you could get a really powerful vent to suck everything straight up, but I suspect it would take pets and small children with it! :-) Vents are usually mounted approximately 30" above the cooking surface and even then it's advised that you get one 6" wider than the cooking surface in an effort to increase the "capture area" b/c of the sideways drift. I'm not a proponent of down drafts either, but as long as you don't fry, brown, do any cooking with oil, or use the charbroiler, you'll probably be all right...although you will probably be able to smell the next day what you had for dinner the night before... I really don't mean to be so negative, but I think you should really think about this. I second the idea that the range should really be against the wall...aside from the venting issue, it's a safety issue as well, especially if you have younger children (unless you have a large overhang in the back...24" or more, and decent space on the sides...again, 24" or more on each side). Most of my time is spent prepping...and that's when I like to be able to see/converse with others. When I'm at the cooktop, I need to pay attention to what I'm doing...and that's even more important if you have gas. You also do not usually spend much time at the cooktop...you put something on a burner & just periodically check it while you're continuing to prep, cleanup, set up, etc. If I had to choose, I would much rather have the sink in the island than the cooktop.

The Wolf Df bakes beautifully and you can fill it and everything will bake evenly. It is a fabulous oven. Unfortunately my oven started with the blue enamel chipping at a little over 4 years of age. It is out of warranty. After back and forth with Wolf the most they will do is pay a small portion of labor and supply the part. The labor starts at $800 with no cap and they will only warranty the part for a year. With their ongoing issues, I don't want to do that. Some have been through multiple ovens. This has been an ongoing issue with Wolf and they did replace ovens that did this even four years out. No longer do they do this. The new wall ovens have replaceable bottoms to make them cheaper to repair. The ranges do not. Before this happened I was a huge fan of the Wolf Df. When I bought it they told me I would not need an extended warranty because Wolf would stand behind it. This is no longer the case.
I too am looking to replace it with something that bakes as well.
Search blue chipping on this forum.

I have a 30-inch Wolf AG. I've baked cakes, cookies, muffins, breads, etc. and they have all baked evenly. I haven't used the convection feature so I can't vouch for that. The oven interior is black on the AG and I don't have any chipping issues and am unaware of any problems with the AG ovens and chipping.

I have a 36-inch Wolf AG , and I am very pleased with its performance. It browns more evenly than any oven, electric or gas, that I've ever used, and I'm 68 years old. For example I simultaneously baked two half-sheet sized pans of yeast rolls recently, and I was delighted that both the tops and the bottoms of both pans of rolls were nicely browned.

Thank you for your input. I am leaning towards the AG but I am nervous to buy it. It is less expensive than the dual fuel but it is still expensive. I have looked at other brands of 36" ranges but Wolf seems to have the best reputation (except the chipping which is something to think about). Also they have service reps in my area. I am going to go back to the appliance store today to look again.

Also how hard is it to clean the AG? I would rather get an answer from a consumer than the sales rep!
