Coffee grinder just died
Comments (8)Just tell him, whatever he does, not to buy a Bodum. It is the worst coffee grinder I have ever used. The only way I can get evenly ground coffee is by shaking it up and down and all around as it grinds, and then stopping every so often to stir the coffee with a chopstick so that the bottom doesn't get ground to coffee while the top has chunks in it. I have had a Mr. Coffee, and a Krups, both of which were excellent (and are still working, having been delegated to spices and such when we bought the Bodum because they'd gotten pretty worn and beaten up in one way or another and didn't look nice on the counter anymore) and both of which sell for under $25 unless you get into really fancy schmancy models which is really unnecessary....See MoreOf knives and coffee grinders
Comments (29)I have just about every knife imaginable. When I do squash, I wash it first, then microwave it for a minute or two, depending on the size. Cuts SO much easier. I've used my Wusthoff cleaver, my 8" Wusthoff chef's knife, a chinese cleaver and even resorted to DH bringing in the wood-mallet thingie. Microwaving makes it MUCH easier. I have the Solis Maestro burr grinder. I guess after 10+ years, they are discontinuing it and the newer version will be the Baratza. I spent about $130-50 (can't recall now) for it but it has been a JOY to use. I too am the only coffee drinker in my house. I have every gadget for coffee and tea. Love this thing. I guess these days, anything that lasts 10 years is considered golden, IMHO....See MoreBurr Coffee Grinder
Comments (29)...he’s a rocket scientist/brain surgeon who does all the calculations to determine the water to bean ratio. Oh, he and my DH should get together. My DH had a regular kitchen scale, too but I guess this one measures to the tenth of a gram rather than just to the gram (which is the difference of a bean, which seems to make all the difference in the world to the perfect cup of coffee). Also, it has a built in timer. Another factor for DH was that the kitchen scale would reset after a certain amount of time and he'd have to reset half way thru the pouring. Yes, he times how long to pour the water....See MorePortable cup/pod/capsule coffee brewer, grinder and warmer +
