How to Paint Roses

Does anyone know of a GOOD book on painting roses that is easy other than One Stroke Painting? I would love to take old discarded items & refurbish them w/paint & roses but, don't have a clue how to paint realistic/romantic looking roses.

I don't know what method these books use but you could check
them out at Chapters or someplace like that.

I had a Champagne Cocktail and thought the blooms were beautiful but it was very bs prone. I gave it away. It seems to like the person I gave it to because it looks healthier now, so now I got a new CC. It really is pretty. Very different from Elina. Elina looks like a must have to me. There are other fine handpainted ones like STretch Johnson, Old Master, and Sue Lawley. I have Regensberg which is a good bloomer and fairly pretty. I think Moore's has that. Bebe, DF stands for Dear Friend. She has the Royal Albert Rose Set and I had bought her the hand painted stemware to go with it so thought I'd paint a tray to sit them on. I didn't like the way it turned out so ended up giving her one I had painted before. The tray was silver and my husband spray painted it white for me. He is so good about helping with the spray painting. I would like to learn to paint a rose like you but haven't got a clue how to start. The ones I've seen in books are not smooth like yours. Want to give some online lesson that might help? I would love some help! Punk

Paintingfool does lovely roses and she had created the worksheet for us. She is on her way to a Painting convention, but might be able to help you when she gets back. Also, at Michael's they usually have the worksheets by Donna Dewberry and I know there is one for her One Stroke rose. Jenn, I've watched the videos twice now--they are okay even if not professional quality. Sort of fun actually since their one eyed cat even makes an appearance! LOL The lady is painting on luggage and it comes out very nice, and she makes it look easy. Guess what? I started out to go help a friend with her checkbook today and had some extra time to kill--stopped at a local TS and found a hard sided small piece of luggage for only 99 cents! Will be fun to see if I can make it look similar to the ones on the video! I'll have to take before and after pics and post them on here for all of you to see. Might be awhile--got another project to do for Valentine's first. Just love it when things work out this way. Luvs

You are very welcome! Yes it is a big bookstore. It's here in
Canada but I don't know if they exist in the US. You could
always check out Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble(I think they
exist in the US). I would just check out any big bookstore in your area.
