I painted this today for my DF for her birthday tomorrow. It's still wet but thought I would snap a picture while I had time.

I'm sure she is going to just love that Punk. What a sweet gift. The pretty pink roses look so pretty--I always love it when people paint roses! Luvs

Punk, I don't know what DF means but whoever is getting the tray will love it because it is so pretty. I love the color combination - pink and yellow. Was it a silver tray to begin with? And you did a great job on the roses. Isn't it funny how we all paint roses and each one is different from the other but they are all so pretty? That is the way it is in real rose life I guess.

As you can tell I am not computer savvy. I was a secretary for many years and even when typing on the computer I have to type out the whole word - can't help it, it is the way my fingers go.

I live in east Texas, 2 hours from Houston. After spotting this bug at night while I was outside near some lights, I found that the June Bug, which is common in our area this time of year, was the culprit who had been chewing on my roses. I use an insecticidal soap spray, cant recall who makes it, but you can get it at Walmart, Lowes. Spray on buds, leaves - this should stop whatever is chewing. As for wilt, the above posts are correct. If you have just planted your roses, they may exhibit wilt for a few days - just keep them well watered - and make sure you didnt plant in a hole that retains water - this can make them wilt. I read on the forum that it is really good to disbud for awhile, let the roses work on growing roots, not blooming. I now disbud all my newly planted roses for a couple of months. Maybe even prune them back a bit so less plant to have to keep moist. I usually prune my roses back a bit before planting. Also, just the heat itself might make them wilt until they get established. Here are some pic update from my J&P sale and Wayside Gardens sale. Wayside Gardens sale roses (The Ancient Mariner x2 , Princess Alexandra Of Kent x2 , Darcey Bussell, Tess of the d'Urbervilles) were stressed from shipping in high temperature then got hit by the sun in my garden even they were under a tree, all the new growths died and it took a while with a lot of extra care before some new growths showed up again. Here are the pics of the 2 with slowest growths (The Ancient Mariner and Princess Alexandra Of Kent) taking today. I wasn't sure that these 2 could make it. I'm glad they did. The first J&P sale roses are doing great (Cabana x2, Hypnotized! x2, Daring Spirit (tree), JP 2020 Exclusive Preview Striped). Cabana Faked Hypnotized! Daring Spirit (tree)

Well I gave a cutting of MRS BR Cant to a friend and hers has just nearly surpassed my mother plant. She (her hubby reminded me) lives in the bottom lands surrounding a creek that periodically has flooded and he said they have pretty good soil. She also told me she feeds all her roses bunny manure. All that and great well water that roots rose cuttings in water! Perfect storm for roses. I'm certainly jealous, and her husband is a man's man who doesnt care about gardens etc. He hunts and fishes. But he told me noticing her success has him thinking about raising rose cuttings for profit! LOL

ISO Damascus rose, climbing rose and any English/Antique rose

I am in Flower Mound and have a variety of jasmine to trade. I am specifically looking for light pink/dark pink Damascus rose which is highly fragrant and is used in making rose water. I also love English garden roses that are highly fragrant. If its climbing rose, all the better. Other items in my search list are Brugmansia, Oleander and Clematis. If Damascus rose is available in local nurseries, I would appreciate that tip as well. Thanks

Bebe, DF stands for Dear Friend. She has the Royal Albert Rose Set and I had bought her the hand painted stemware to go with it so thought I'd paint a tray to sit them on. I didn't like the way it turned out so ended up giving her one I had painted before.

The tray was silver and my husband spray painted it white for me. He is so good about helping with the spray painting.

I would like to learn to paint a rose like you but haven't got a clue how to start. The ones I've seen in books are not smooth like yours.

Want to give some online lesson that might help? I would love some help!

Punk....With beautiful gifts like your tray, I bet you have no trouble finding friends! Your bouquet is so natural looking and your lettering is awesome. Did you use the majic gold pen for the strokes work on the tray? Sure is nice!

Belle, I don't own a gold pen so I just painted my gold on the tray. You are so sweet and thanks for the comment.

I love your roses, but the fillers always catch my eye. Love all the little details. It's really a pretty piece and your lettering is very nicely done. Can't believe you didn't give it to her. ha Oh well, what will you do with it now? What didn't you like about it?

Anj, funny that you ask what I will do with it now. My DF came down today and I gave it to her. She liked it and so it's home where it belongs.
