Outlook Express email ?

When I try to send a picture using outlook express it tells me it is too big and that will have to break apart the message??????

I went to Outlook express - TOOLS - ACCOUNTS - MAIL - MAIL i2k.com (my server) then I clicked on PROPERTIES - ADVANCED and as I looked there, there is a checkmark in Sending- Break apart messages larger than 60 KB. Should I change that by UNCHECKING the box or change the 60 KB to something larger? The last thing I "tried" to send was a picture that was 21.2 MB and it was sent 62 times before it said it was exceeding the amount and stopped. All 62 had nothing in the email???

Any suggestions??

Wondering who you are sending it to. Thats HUGE - I would be upset if someone sent me that without asking me.

That really is too big for emails. That size picture I would upload to a file server & just give a link to it. To big for even a standard webpage view.

Maybe you might like something like Dropbox which is a sync'd folder on your computer with an online server. Then people could view or download it from the web by clicking a web link.

Many budget internet providers have a 6 megabyte size limit. Talktalk in the UK is one of those for example.

Here is a short explanation of how all emails get split into small 'packets' while being sent to their destination. Do not uncheck where it told you the packet size was 60kb, leave it as it was.

Your isp will have that info on their getting started with email web pages. Who is your ISP ? Maybe someone here uses the same isp and can give you the info. Its basically asking for either an IP or url name of your mail server, and which protocol that mail server uses.

Sounds like you might set yourself up to miss seeing some emails with multple users but anyhow... I might look at where they are saved now... OE menu Tools/Options, then Maintance tab and you should see path to where it keeps files is something like; C:\Documents and Settings\mike\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\"91BE4C73-0506-4C05-A470-2E9CE853BE1D>\Microsoft\Outlook Express So maybe I would try moving the location where that stored folder points to,, All Users ; C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\"91BE4C73-0506-4C05-A470-2E9CE853BE1D>\Microsoft\Outlook Express on each login that path would need to be the same. Or you could try just the shared folder route,, make it a new folder just for mail though might be a good idea.

Ravencajun, Last night I did another scan, It was very slow. I use Charter's High speed internet Security Suiet. It comes with my internet service. This trojan is not listed in their definitions. To be honest I have run into it previously and thought if they didn't do anything with it, it must not be serious. It was the email that allerted me to a possible connection. I was sending it to my SIL and what it is, is a recipe written on standard notebook paper. That is what I didn't understand. I scanned it into Picasa and went to email it to here I checked properties and that is where it told me how big it was.

If you don't reduce the file size to something much more reasonable the viewing product will not even display on the screen in total. At best you would have to use the slide bars to navigate the view. Irfanview would easily reduce the file to a better size.

Yes, instead of breaking it up into several messages, use a photo management program to reduce the size of the image. Irfanview is just one of many that do that. It is free and very easy to use.

I scanned it into Picasa and went to email it to here I checked properties and that is where it told me how big it was.

You must have scanned at too large a size. Check your size before scanning it or like mentioned above, reduce the size in a program that will and save as. (can use paint)
My scanned items are too large to send email so I resize them in PSP7 to save smaller.
