Do you use your grill and/or griddle

For those that have a griddle and/or grill in your cooktop, do you use often? Would you buy your cooktop with these items again? Thanks

The thing I most miss from my last kitchen is my griddle. Am about to purchase bluestar cooktop with griddle for new home. hamburgers, grilled cheese, pancakes in quantity rather than multiple pans or squeezing them in. Also have used as warmer plate for appetizers when had party. I'd say I used it 5 times/week.

I purchased a 48 inch dual fuel with 24 inch griddle. My brother in law has one and he uses it ALL the time. Every time we visit I get to use it and knew I had to have one when we remodeled. I have two kids and when you add in their friends I'm usually cooking things in large quanitites (pancakes, grilled cheese, eggs quesadillas, ect.) People say they are hard to clean, but I have seen him clean it in a snap. It never looks like it does when it is first installed, but I am planning on purchasing a cover. HTH, good luck!

I love, love, love the griddle that's built in to my 48" GE Monogram range. I have 6 burners and the griddle. I just got the range a little over a month ago, but I use the griddle almost daily for all kinds of things - eggs, fajitas, pancakes, hot dogs, marinated/seared chicken breast, etc. I never thought I would use it this often, but it does a great job with almost anything you can think of and not just traditionally "griddled" foods. I find it's one of the best ways to get an intensely high searing heat down to a nice, puffing up kind of low heat, for just about anything. I used to have one of those cast iron griddles that covered two burners that I used w/my last range, but this is waaaaaay better - hotter and more even. I almost didn't get the built-in griddle but I'm so glad I did.

I have a hard-anodized aluminum griddle from Anolon. I've been using it on my glass top for about 3 years and I really like it. My initial problem was to coordinate the temps on the regular burner and the bridge burner because they need to be at slightly different settings. I also have a pop-up vent behind my cooktop and that caused a problem because it restricted the size of pan that I could use. I needed to return my first purchase and exchange it for a smaller version. Now that I look on-line I see that they are pretty expensive. As I recall I bought mine about a month-or-so after Christmas when there were a lot of clearance sales and I got a really good deal on it.

Thought I would post and give you one view . We have a 36" Caldera gas cooktop. With the configuration of 5 burners and cont. grates I got Lodge Logic griddles to use for high heat grilling. It works so well and I clean the griddle and put away and I have 5 burners still in place. I can also use the smaller square griddle and still use all 4 burners. I have an electric griddle for pancakes/waffles...has the grids that flip over. I love it as the heat is so consistent vs trying to get the same on my LL griddles. Just something to think about. This has been a frequent debate on Kitchens....do you use the burners more/need them more than you do a griddle. One thing is the part of the country you live in. Lots of folks use outdoor grills so don't use the indoor grill pan/griddle. Another topic is the cleaning as you mentioned. It all really comes down to how YOU cook. How do you clean your Chef King Griddle?

Not sure about the Chef King, but If it's similar material, (3/8" cold rolled steel), I can tell you about my Bluestar griddle that's been used daily for over a year. I've never used soap, and only used small amount water (when hot, as a de-glaze), a couple of times. Other than that, when finished cooking, and still warm, I scrape it with a flat spatula, or use this stainless drywall knife which works ideal! Then just a wipe with a paper towel. In other words, I treat it as I do my vintage cast iron skillets....in time, it will become more and more non stick, and eggs will slide right off :)

It's not supposed to look like new. It gets seasoned like a pan. It should be kind of brownish. Gets better and better with use.
