ravencajun- I have used Hotmail for years as my main email account (I don't have the Hotmail Plus, paid version with extra storage). I am unaware of any setting that allows the user to set how long things stay in the Deleted folder before they are permanently deleted by the Hotmail servers. I believe the longest they are there is a week. I like to keep my Inbox clear, which is why I set up Folders where I can save anything I might remotely want to access in the future. If you can tell me where the setting is to change the Delete timing I'd like to hear. paleblue- The only other suggestion I have for you is to look in your Sent Folder. Occasionally I've wanted to go back to look at a deleted email, and it's past the date when Hotmail has cleared the Deleted Folder, but, if it was an email I replied to, it will be in my Sent Folder attached to my reply.

... If that doesnt fix it and you feel brave and want to experiment more. There is a messages store that I'm thinking has become corrupt much like the XP mail .DAT files used to. Vista keeps a copy of all the emails individually in folders. I havent experimented but would think and am totally guessing here that if you rename the message store it will be lost to windows eyes and it may build a new message store based on the individual emails stored in the folders. It may screw things up too. Hopefully changing the name back to norm on the message store would put you back to first base again. Mine's not default so I can't give you an exact path but if you look around you can find a message store that is in use by paying attention to its date. Should be current date. My inuse message store is here; "C:\Users\mike\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\WindowsMail.MSMessageStore" Yours should be close to same path,, pay attention to dates as you may find an inactive one too. You possibly may need to set explorers folder view to show all hidden to see it.

Have you tried dragging and dropping in into the trash or junk mail folder? If not do that it usually works when delete doesn't

Good Sunday Morning. Although I've had a computer since 1990 I never learned much. First of all I'm still running Juno 5.0. I tried Juno 7.0 a year or two ago and didn't like the format. So, I got a 5.0 CD and that's where I've stayed. I downloaded IE7.0 again but this time into a different file (one hour and 20 minutes on dial up). Then I deleted the IE7.0 I originally downloaded. Since then my email came back and the entire Juno 5.0 system is working except for a few quirks I can live with. I have not activated the new IE7.0 so I must have another IE running somewhere in the background or my system wouldn't even function. Right? I would like to load IE7.0 but am afraid things will again go to pot, so to speak. But, at least, I know if I have to delete it I won't be dead in the water. Maybe I'll give it a shot one day but not for a while. Thanks, again. Gene
