What do you think of this netbook?

I've been wanting a netbook for awhile now and just haven't made up my mind. My husband and I both have to use reading glasses and I'm thinking this bigger model will be easier to see.

We don't game, this will be used for web surfing, email, office applications.

This one has a dual core Celeron processor so should be faster than the usual Atoms.

Does no Bluetooth mean I can't use a wireless mouse?

To answer your question about Bluetooth, no, it in no way affects your use of a wireless mouse since those usually use a USB port for the receiver of the signal. The Celeron processor is Intel's bottom model, but for the uses you list, it should be just fine. My first desktop computer had a Celeron processor, and I never had a problem. Used the computer for a number of years and finally gave it to someone who had no computer.

The small 10" netbooks are just too small for my liking, both screen and keyboard, so this might be better. Still, there are larger, regular laptops in this price range that you might consider, unless you are set on having a netbook.

Definitely want something small/light and not a regular sized laptop. I am a sales rep and I travel and have to carry catalogs/briefcase etc. Need something I can put in a big purse/tote.

I do not want to haul around a wheeled cart either. My boss does and it is a huge PITA, I've traveled with him.

Ornithogalums??? Oh vetivert, you are bad, but Ornithogalum is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of spring chores and getting to work outside, usually in late Feb. Now I realize my question could have and should have been phrased a lot better. How about this? If the Bulb Forum members would submit their (own) pics of plants and blooms grown from bulbs for a new forum picture, what should it be? . Should it be open to anything grown from bulbs? Should it maybe exclude such things that have more 'specific' forums of their own, such as Lily, Tropical, and House Plant? Should it be an individual bloom, or as you suggested, maybe a still life flower arrangement of numerous delectable blooms grown from bulbs? Please 'scuse me for just having tunnel vision and tunnel thoughts of just Daffodils. At any rate, the folks who are having their spring now, can hopefully be trying to get some great pics. Ok...so when does anyone think we could/should start taking picture submissions? Should we wait until late 2010 so glads could be included by those in the US who grow them? Should we wait a full year (or nearly) so the members down under have an opportunity to have another summer blooming season, like for glads? hmmm...what is fairest? I guess before proceeding, I should check with the 'Powers that be' to see for sure if they would be willing to get the pic changed and updated with a pretty pic of our choosing. I hope lots of folks will give their input and in time, post their pics for entry. In doing a search here on the forum, it seems that Tulips and Daffs are the 2 things most often posted about. I imagine though that tulips are most frequently asked about, due to them having problems, or emerging early, or for not blooming a second season when they are thought to be perennials like daffodils. I made all nine in two days. Maybe I do something different. I stack and glue the pieces all at once. I don't have the patience to wait for each piece to set...the tall thin one is my favorite. I found Candle sticks and the mini vases on top at one yard sale Saturday Morning and had it put together as soon as I got home. If you want to see them close up click on the picture and I have singles of each close up in the album on Picasa. I must confess the red birdbath is simple clear glass that I have painted with glass paint. I wanted to try my hand at revers painting on glass. I am please with the results. I may have to make another painted one I have lots of clear glass but color sure makes a statement. When I started I was only gonna make one or two, Because I had no interuptions I just kept going! I wanted One of each color of the rainbow! LOL They will all be displayed in one Bed, held in with sand then Mulch. I also found Brand New White vinyl edgeing to use but I want to paint it first or at least wash it with some color. I am worried about Hurricane season. LOL Here are some pics of the bird bath. I just wanted to report my results of my experiment. I did containers for the front of my house with carpet of snow alyssum and white cosmos. Only the alyssum germinated. I put all my Cosmo seeds in these containers so it looks like I am going to have to buy white cosmos this year. I did containers for my back patio with petite yellow marigold, cosmic orange cosmos, and royal carpet alyssum. Again only the alyssum germinated. The same marigold seeds that I sowed in separate cups germinated just fine. So I will transplant some of the marigolds into these patio containers. I've never seen the orange cosmos at the nursery, so I will have to look for something tall and yellow/orange to add to the containers. On the bright side - I will not have to buy alyssum.

What a nice space for a garden. I like the rock wall. What kind of light does this area get? Dappled sun and shade all year like in the photo, or either more sun or more shade during the growing season? What is your soil like? I find it difficult to tell how large the area is, so a ballpark estimate would help to tell what there is space for. I'd start with removing any non-garden plants growing here and then mulch (cardboard with cut-outs for the hosta with an organic mulch like chopped leaves or wood chips on top) and weed a lot the first year so that when you add plants your weeding and maintenance will be minimal. Since this area will be visible as folks go in and out of the door, having plants with year-round interest and/or some ornament such as sculpture or a birdbath will be important in making this area appealing. I think I would try to plant mostly lower growing items in the front part of the garden, or at least airy plants so that the stone wall is a visible feature. If some of these are evergreen/gold/red, they will provide interest in the winter. In the upper part behind the stone wall, if there is room I'd add background plants with year round interest such as a colored foliage evergreen, and /or variegated red-twigged dogwood, ones that would stand out well against the light walls. With any woody plants, check the ultimate size and be sure you have room to paint or do maintenance behind it if it isn't a plant like the dogwoods which don't mind being cut to the ground. If there is enough light, a pretty trellis with a clematis that gets cut back in the winter (type 3 pruning) would feature the clematis in the growing season and the trellis in the winter. I would probably put a row of low-growing or easily pruned evergreens such as one of the smaller boxwood varieties under the window to provide winter interest and then plant the rest of the area with perennials to give you more interest in the growing season. Particularly in a smaller garden such as this that is in such a prominent place, thinking about varying the foliage color and texture (as you are doing in thinking about adding coral bells) will help add interest to the garden when there aren't many blooms. In addition to the library as a resource, Pennsylvania has public gardens that might give you inspiration, both for plants and for design. I have never liked celeron processors and steer people clear of them.
I have an ACER aspire one netbook that has the Intel Atom processor and it really is a good processor.
For less than that one you have there I got an Acer with an Amd athalon processor in the 15" size for $329 it is now $359 at best buy, it is bigger than my netbook but now that I have had experience with both I would prefer the larger size screen, I have very bad eyesight and for me it would be worth it for my eyes. I do like my netbook and have used it a lot, weight is a difference.

I think it is a good choice for you. I have a desktop, a laptop, and a 10" Dell mini. I like the mini a lot for traveling, because it is so small and light, but the screen is definitely at the limit of my visual comfort level. The one you are considering looks like a reasonable price for something with those specs, and I think you will find the screen will be a definite improvement for you compared to the ones on most of the other minis. I only use my mini occasionally, and so I'm happy with it for my needs, but you will be using yours more than I do, and that one looks like a good compromise considering size, weight, and viewing comfort. The fact that it has a full-size keyboard is also a big plus, I say go for it...

I will only be using it when I travel, or in front of the TV. I have a relatively new desktop.

Weight and size are big issues for me. I have Fibromyalgia and can't carry much, very far. I do not want a full size laptop and smart phones are too small, too expensive and too complicated so a netbook seems the best compromise.

I have used someone else's 10" HP mini daily for a week earlier this year and liked it but this Acer is just a bit bigger.

Looks like a good match, please let us know what you think of the machine when you gain some experience. I could go for one of those myself...

I think Acer is a good line, but owned one for less than a week because of software problems, early version of Vista about (what?) 3 years ago. I did like the "feel" of the Acer, it had the 14" screen, and for me that was a step down in size, but alas I ended up with a 15" screen and Windows XP, thank you. I hope the bugs are out of Vista by now, Windows 7 is here, right, maybe you get that.

Yes, this one comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, I found good ratings on it on Amazon.
