Hello Friends ~ Well..I guess I would be considered an 'oldie' and I too remember the days of Spike! I believe it is beneficial for a member, any member, to occasionally remind everyone of the rules (and 'yes' they are the rules of Garden Web) to keep some semblance of order! If a member is unsure of where to post a topic, just ask! We are all here to help and learn from one another. Also, if you notice your post has been moved from one side of the board to the other, do not take offence rather look upon it as a favor from a fellow Junker! While I do not want to revisit previous situations, I believe that Wired's post regarding two members needs to be clarified. I cannot address the member 'Brenda' as I do not remember her nor that situation but I do recall the member named 'Connie' and too insinuate that members were "Jealous" and "Ran her off" is to misstate the situation. Connie did indeed have some great Junk and was a creative person as Wired states but she began posting pictures of her interior design skills, which would have been appropriate on the Conversations side of the board but she insisted on posting them on the Discussions side. The more members tried to help her understand this error and ask her to move her postings, the nastier she and the situation became! Unfortunately, it culminated in her leaving on less then favorable terms. I come here, not as often as I would like to as of late, to learn from other members creativity and experience. I believe both sides of our board have merit. If a member chooses not to share on the Conversation side of the board, that is fine but it is where those of us that want, to get to know each other a little better and share more then just our passion for Junk! *Good order is the foundation of all things.--Edmund Burke (Reflections on the Revolution in France)* Della :)

lol Phil, I got mine at a flea market for 50 cents as a few leaves and now every few years I have to cut it back to 8 feet tall to fit in my house, I have to bring it in, my winters are too cold for it. Some day I'll find the pics of my orchid cactus, another tropical, blooms all winter for me. Janice, I am in total awe of your pics, like WOW, bit time WOW. Now I Know the area your are in, they wouldn't happen to be taking in the Hocking Hills area? I ask because I have told you grew up in Columbus, but did go to the Hocking Hills area many times and those pics remind me of that area. But then again, being where you are, they could also be other areas, you really do live around some wonderful natural beauty. But then so do I, I'm not all that far from Hinckley, that is where the hosta dog and I like to hike the most, such wonderful sandstone formations. Sassy, you do such important work with your crocet, I couldn't imagine having to be a parent knowing their child was going to die and having just a little something to wrap the precious thing in during it's last minutes. Please keep up your work, you may never get a thank you, but you know how much the little things matter in your heart. Mc, looking forward to your pics of the mosaics when you have time. Just got to remember to check the ot post for this post, lol. Von, I have a passion for photography too and like you, always seem to end up being the photographer for events. It is a hobby I would like to pursue more, I don't have a fancy camera, but I think my pics turn out fairly well. We won't even go into the needing glasses bit to do my cross stitch, sore spot there, don't you hate getting old, lol. And Woo Hoo on the first grandbaby. And tick, boring is sitting in front of the tv all day, you have a life so you ARE NOT BORING!!!!!!!! Hostaholic, now sewing is something I have never got into, I can sew, have a sewing machine, just not my thing. But great you do it for the kids, they need all the help they can get in these school productions.

I really feel the backsplash is going to make everything work in your kitchen. I absolutely love it with your counters. I was at a neighbor's house tonight and their darker oak cabinets like yours but in their family room to house the TV that matches the coffee table and nightstand looked so nice as the wood went so well with everything else in the room. This is what I feel will happen to your kitchen when the backsplash that ties in the gorgeous counters ties in everything as it does nicely also with your cabinets. I can't wait to see pictures!

Rosie (cimmaron), I have looked up the descriptions of Epiphyllum and Hylocereus in 'The Cactus Family' (Anderson 2001). Epiphyllum always has the stem tips flat; the floral tube is long, curved and very thin. Hylocereus has 3-angled stems (though I think they can throw some with 2 or 4 angles); the floral tube is relatively short and thick, almost absent in some species judging from the illustrations. So I would say Jancc's plants look more like Hylocereus. H. undatus in my experience will grow up trees or brick walls clinging by its roots like ivy, sometimes to heights of over 10 m. I don't think epiphyllums do anythging like that. Where I have seen E. oxypetalum it makes a multi-stemmed shrub about 1.5 m high, though maybe it can get a bit taller. As for 'epiphyllum hybrids', it's interesting to note what Anderson has to say: "One encounters numerous so-called epiphyllum hybrids, which in fact rarely involve species of Epiphyllum as a parent. Rather, these magnificent plants, bearing shimmering, iridescent flowers, are mostly hybrids of related genera such as Disocactus, Pseudorhipsalis, and Selenicereus."
