Best 48 inch counter depth fridge?
Comments (15)Just found this thread and wanted to throw in my experience with a 48" built in Samsung, side-by-side refrigerator with water/ice dispenser. We bought it a year ago and had problems with the water/ice dispenser "sticking" right from the beginning which would cause the water/ice to keep dispensing after you moved the cup away. We had it serviced under warranty and it fixed the problem, for about 6 months until is started doing it again. After about 8 months we noticed water leaking out from under the front doors at the hinges. To make a long story short, 4 months, 5 service appointments and many, many calls to Samsung later without any resolution to the water leaking, we were told the refrigerator can't be repaired and have been offered a refund. It's been a very frustrating experience, and a refund certainly won't cover the cost of taking out and disposing of the old fridge and installing a new one. I have always been a loyal Samsung customer, I just don't think they made a very good built-in refrigerator....See MoreCounter depth fridge manual specifies 2" clearance behind fridge
Comments (10)You probably saw Erica L's thread, it is on page 1 below yours. Just in case you didn't, here is the link... http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/3693456/freaking-out-about-counter-depth-fridge-sticking-out-past-pantry-cabs?n=100 You should read her thread because it discusses the whole 2" clearance verses counter depth issue. It does seem contradictory. Naming it "counter depth" to me is misleading. For instance, in Erica's case her GE cd fridge specs says the case without the doors is 24 3/8". Now on top of that you need to allow 2" air clearance in the back according to their recommended specs. So how on earth can they say it's counter depth? Go figure! If you want the sides or "case" covered by a panel or cabinetry, it needs to be bumped out further the the normal 24". I guess somewhere around 2-2 1/2". I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong. But in Erica's case that's what happened from what I gather. As a side note, is that a wall to the right of your fridge? You need space so the door can open fully. edit: counter depth is more like 25 1/2" so I guess technically they can say that, but with the back air clearance they say is needed, then it is not....See MoreWhat is the best under counter, built in 24" beverage fridge?
Comments (6)I had Perlick Drawers that I loved until they coil developed a leak. The part was under warranty but the cost of having someone install it was near the price of a new unit. Perlick was great -- sent out a new unit rather than just the coil. But my cutomer panels no longer fit and the drawer arrangement didn't work as well for us. Then the new unit started having icing up issues -- and after a couple of defrosts it became clear that it too had developed a leaking coil. Didn't even get a reply from Perlick. I will probably replace with Sub Zero now that they make a 24"....See MoreBest 33” counter depth fridge?
Comments (14)Remember that "counter depth" refers to the depth of the refrigerator cabinet, not the entire refrigerator including the door and handles (or any required space between the back of the refrigerator and the wall). The GE GWE19JSLSS (18.6 cf) might be an acceptable choice. It's 29" deep without the handles; add 2" air space behind the refrigerator. It's also sold as the Cafe CWE19SP2NS1 but for more money. If you want a shallower refrigerator with somewhat less capacity, the Fisher Paykel RF170BRPX6N (17.5 cf; bottom freezer) is 27-3/8'' deep including the door (it has no handle) and requires a 1-3/16'' air space behind....See Morefiddleddd
