Now don't get carried away PK, of course you are going to have to buy another. Heck 3 or 4 maybe as you are obviously not too old seeing you are still giving those hogs a home. All electronics have built in obsolescence you know. Lenovo is Chinese owned, they bought up IBM. I have not read much bad about the company, I think Mikie who hangs out here owns a Lenovo which he seems happy with. You could Google 'Lenovo complaints' or 'Lenovo reviews' or even include the specific model and see what others think but be sure you read the complaints fairly as there are those who complain about silly things. Honest complaints are worth reading of course.

Shee, I am much older than you (59) and cannot get my recipes organized either. I have an old metal index box full of hand written or typed recipes people have shared over the years, and drawer full, a drawer full, etc. Many are folded pieces of paper. Since you don't cook a lot or don't like to cook, if I were you I could get once nice box and recipe cards and hand write them. I bought my DD and DIL a Longaberger recipe box and the Longaberger cards. I went ahead and bought the liner for it and an extra pack of recipe cards. If you get the large one, it will hold a lot of recipes. It makes a lovely little accessory for your countertop, or if you don't like "stuff" on your counters, it takes up very little room in the cabinet. I see that it is being retired soon. Better get myself one - I am so bad to buy for others, and not spend money on myself! I use the same old faithful recipes most of the time, so this box should hold all the favorites. I am sure you can also find something similar at a much better price in the home stores. I also have lots of cookbooks. My favorite cookbooks are those sold by local clubs, organizations, churches, schools, etc as fundraisers. Living in a small town, I know most of the people who have recipes published in these books. My favorite is one compiled by the local Woman's Club in the seventies and my favorite recipes are those submitted by wonderful old ladies, most of whom are gone. My butterscotch pie recipe is from a little old lady I knew as a teenager - it calls for butter the size of a walnut. Was probably passed down to her as well. marie is right about the quantity of ink. The guy at Staples said the cartridges in those "photo packs" that have ink and paper don't have as much ink in them. I stick to what my printer recommends (HP). I tried a generic with my last printer (Epson? Lexmark?), and it was horrible. About that last statement, though...I saw on a national network in the last two weeks that the majority of credit card fraud occurs from doing business in retail stores and restaurants rather than online. *shrug* Then again, it may be like the medical studies. One week, coffee is good for you. The next week, it will kill you. The third week, you can drink it in moderation. :-)

JoAnn, that's what the guys at Staples kept telling me. Like I said, my small Officejet 5610 has made a lot of cards over the years. It's no longer made, but I found some online, used, used-good condition, and new. But - the new ones are offered at $400 and up! I'm sure I didn't pay nearly that for my original plus I would be a little wary of ordering a used one even tho it's listed as "still works good!" ha I like the 5610 because the paper feeder tray is up front and not behind a door that closes. So I can feed sheets of card stock one at a time without opening and shutting a door which is what I see on newer printers. However, the printer in residence at Staples said a rear paper feeder is best for card stock because then the paper doesn't have to "bend" over the rollers as it's being printed. I wanted a demonstration but he said they aren't allowed to do that in-store. Anyway, I took the HP 6978 back this afternoon along with the ink cartridges. Looked at lighter card stock. The lightest is 32lb. and it isn't card stock but just ordinary paper. Then I found some brochure paper and wondered about that. The Staples printer wasn't sure about how that would work. In the end, I found an HP "Promotions Business Paper Sample Pack" that has four types of paper plus envelopes for $5.99. I thought what the heck, I'll see for myself since the clerks won't open packs of paper of course. Also discovered that what I'm using that is 65lb. is actually "cover stock".
