All you had to do was reply once in the original post, saying that you were posting a bump reply to launch it down. It would have made it to the bottom of the page soon enough without taking other possibly important topics with it, and without making the current page look as though a moronic monkeybot has been posting all day.

the post is not a functional post so could not be posted to but it could have been reported for removal still should be actually so it will be removed.

Well I see that I ruffled some feathers here. Let me explain why I did what I did.

GardenWeb is very busy right now trying to restore missing pages. They are doing this on top of their everyday maintenance to keep these forums going for all of us to enjoy.

I know of this link "the Special Instructions for the Exchange!!", which is on the Seed Exchange Forum, that has not worked for about a year now. Yes, it has been reported several times by several members. So how long will that "SD Card Recovery" post stay on top, probably a long time. So I took it upon myself to knock this down from the top. All I was trying to do was be a nice member and help out.

Since this is a "Computer Help Forum", let me teach you something about forums.

It takes 6 unanswered posts to knock down 1 unanswered post. After you check to make sure that the 1 unanswered post is down to the 7th spot, you go back and reply to the 6 unanswered posts. And now that 1 unanswered post will now drop down into cyberspace.

Now that all of you have been educated on how posts work, class is dismissed.

Appreciate the info always-beezee, never knew that trick and no doubt will have forgotten by the time we need it again. But it did indeed seem to do the trick.

no ruffled feathers here at all I understood exactly what you were doing and got it. I wish there was a better method to get them to do some of the things that need doing though.

It will still be on page 1 if nobody posts a new question. Each time a new question gets posted here it will move down. Same thing with all of the 6 posts that I put up to make it drop down. If nobody answers them, they will fall also.

DA: Thanks for posting the link about BUMPing. It never occurred to me that it was an "official" procedure. I usually read all threads, even if the topic doesn't seem to be relevant or of interest to me, because one never knows what can be learned. This was one of those threads.

on some of the forums I am admin on I added an icon to the icon/smiley list that just says bump so just adding the icon to the reply box accomplishes the task quickly.

It really doesn't seem that big of a deal of what always-bezzee did in getting that post to move. It couldn't be replied to so it couldn't be moved. It had sat there for almost 10 days and to me that was more annoying than the process to move it... which was a clever tip that might come in useful. On most forums there are admins that check their places everyday to move these things along. This isn't one of those places and I agree that post could have sat there for a much longer time.
