But Occam actually said, "Numquam ponenda est pluralitas sine necessitate." --------- It is often paraphrased as the simplest solution tends to be the right one, but that is not what Occam's razor actually says. It doesn't mention solutions at all. Even your quote translates to, "entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity." Doesn't refer to the solution. My suggestion that it is a complex problem with a complex answer doesn't add assumptions over the statement the government caused it. In fact, there are many fewer assumptions with my explanation. I guess I shouldn't say that there wasn't a simple cause, there was, it just happens to be the same simple cause that has caused every single financial collapse ever. Bad information. Now turning that into something that is useful going forward is another story and people who need to blame the government or even a single practice aren't going to put in that kind of work. ETA: I teach a class on the financial collapse, and I have tried to discuss some of the things that I talk about in that class on these forums multiple times, it ends up being a massive time sink. So choose to believe me or choose to believe someone else, I really don't care. I will try to answer serious questions if someone wants to engage, but I am choosing not to debate causation further.
