closing out programs?

On the bottom right on my screen there are about 7 programs that run when I open up and are always there. (I hope I am expaining this right)

How do I get rid of the ones I don't need? If I just close them they come right back if I have to restart.

First check the Preferences/Options of the applications you are focusing on to determine if the offering is there to uncheck the display of an icon in the Notification/System Tray.

If not, download and install the free application WinPatrol. When activated it places an icon in the Notification/System Tray. Click on it. The appearing presentation will offer among many things a Startup Tab. Click on the tab and review its contents. (If your speakers are on be prepared for Scottie.) You will be able to disable the entries you wish to. Disable only do not delete.

You can even disable WinPatrol. It will then be an on demand application rather than running in the background.

If you are not sure of the entries, they can be researched at Pacs-Portal or Answers That Work.

I heartily second what DA has posted. I wouldn't be without WinPatrol. When you install a new program or application, it also lets you know if said installation wants to run in startup, and you can choose to not let it do so.

Hi Storey, Would love to get your P. coccinea and thunbergia clock vine but don't have any of your wants. I do have some white fragrant crinums, yellow flag iris, blue/purple with yellow beardless iris, red pine cone ginger, EE "Chicago Harlequin" and amaryllis, not Red Lion, but they are dark red. how to get some programs out of limited user account

Hi Raven, I tried that and it says the limited user does not have the right to do so. It won't let me delete it. Is there any way I can delete the shortcut in the limited user account while I'm in the administrator's account? Does anyone know about the itunes question, please please please??

Good suggestions on the updates as well as the anti virus. I'd also recommend doing a registry scan/clean. That is how alot of the little bot programs hide themselves..can scan for free too like the antivirus Andie Here is a link that might be useful: registryeasy.com

Thanks.. Yes you need to change the SW-2 set-up switch to on when using a two stage stat. I decided to order a old style mercury switch type two stage stat because Iv heard you'd be lucky getting 10 years from a programmable stat. More like 5 or less. My old T87 still works after 40 years so I decided to stick with a mechanical. I just want my furnace to run on first stage and remain there during low load conditions. When using it with a single stage stat and SW2 off, it would kick into high heat after 16 minutes.. Then immediately over shoot and turn off. Kind of annoying. I could continue using the T87 and turn SW2 on which would lock out high heat but I would need to flip it back when it gets really cold out. Here is a link that might be useful:

I agree winpatrol is a great program to have for many reasons.

If you just want a quick look see of your start up also a good option for that is start up lite by the makers of malwarebytes

I would find out from an expert what the programs do. You may be trying to shut down your antivirus protection.
