You're being evasive about how you apply water. If you don't have a sprinkler, then what do you do? Do you just turn on the hose and let it run out? I have an oscillator sprinkler at the end of my hose. If you don't have an oscillator, I suggest you get one - a turbo oscillator. That's the kind without the mechanical linkage gizmo. Those things bind up and get stuck - sometimes that happens right out of the box. The turbos last for years. The only issue with them is they apply water so slowly that it takes hours and hours to get an inch. Mine takes 8 hours. Some take 5 hours. It depends on water pressure, hose size, temperature. up or down hill, and a few other things. You'll have to time how long it takes your setup. Oscillators apply water more evenly than anything else. If you live in the Great Plains, then wind is a factor for oscillators, but if not, then give them a try. I've used every sprinkler at least once. The invention of the Turbo on the oscillator finally made them work.

Looks like mechanical damage from here, I'd forget it. Sounds like a lot of water, even for gritty mix. A lot of fertilizer too (I'd suggest too much, that's why it's so fat & plump as you said). Personally, if it were mine, I'd use a smaller pot. Unless the roots are huge, it's not good to have so much empty mix (assuming that's what's under the rocks). Some succulent growers use little to no fertilizer, feeling it's both unnecessary & makes for overly lush growth. Tho' I grow indoors only, my Aloes are in West window & I only fertilize them once or twice a year, in Summer only. Anyway, back to the damage, it looks like maybe it was bent against the edge of the pot, or a nearby one, looks mechanical (& not spreading) to me. I'd only be concerned if it somehow spreads.

My guess is "Personal Preference"? I quit using the Windows "My Document" folder long ago because I got the feeling it wasn't really "My(mine)" at all. For instance, when I navigate to my Win7 "Documents" I find it's pretty much trashed and I haven't even used it very much. There's a folder named "Adobe", which I didn't put there, nor would I have. A folder called "Alcohol 120%", which I didn't put there. There's a "Games" folder, which I don't play, and didn't put there. There's links to "My Music", which I don't use, "My Pictures", which I don't use, "My Videos", which I don't use. There's a "OneNote Notebooks" folder, which I don't use, forgot it was even installed. A "Stream Transport" folder containing a settings file, don't ask me. :) And a few other things that I wouldn't want cluttering up my documents folder if it was really mine. So it's not. Personally, I always partition a drive just for data and create my own folders for documents, music, video, etc. That way it doesn't get trashed up... unless it's by me. I do make use of my Desktop though. Usually not for long term storage, but for anything I'm working on, need to do more work someday, or want right there in front of me because I use it often. I identify with your predecessor but truthfully, I would say there's no right place, no wrong place, put them where you're used to having them, and can find them quickly and easily. Make them "YOUR" documents. Unless of course your boss says otherwise. :) Just my opinion though, based on my personal quirks. Edit: Is sharing involved? If so... scratch my opinion, I completely misunderstood. :)

gle- My lawn came out ok enough....it's green, fungus gone, no weeds, over-seeded in early Sept.... My last thing to do this year is apply fertilizer late October/early November. Then starting next year, I'm going to try to follow this: http://forums2.gardenweb.com/discussions/4826669/a-yearly-guide-for-cool-season-grasses-from-rutgers to the letter and see how I make out. We're supposed to get a harsh winter in the northeast so let's see how that goes.
