I need to put this program on my computer to buy stamps from the American Philatelic Society because they changed their website.

I found out that I do have it with Internet Explorer. Tried to install the one you recommended, but it conflicts with other. I have contacted the stamp people to find out why their program won't accept my version, I would hate to try to install a new version and mess up my computer (which I seem to do)

Been having problems as well, including log on issues. Disabling javascript before accessing GardenWeb solves all my problems, but this is only a short term solution. Disabling also forces me to get creative in order to log on, but I figured out how to do it using a little back door. Appears they are doing some web site changes, so bugs are bound to crop up here and there.

Me too, me too! But love it as I do, I'd have still been hating GW without the help of kind members , especially 'camp, in Decor, who gave me the final secret word....NOSCRIPT! I had this awful Chaps ad video that acted as a gatekeepr and locked it up on every clik. It's everything SOCAL said, and now I have zero ads anywhere here.wheeeeee. Now I'm gonna go look at "Stumble upon"...sounds neat..thanks :>)

Here's what I tell my users on the other forums, Special note on Java.Old Java versions should be removed after first clearing the Java Cache by following the instructions in: http://www.java.com/...lugin_cache.xml Then remove the old versions by going to Control Panel, Programs and Features and Uninstall all Java programs which are not Java Version 7 update 25 or better. These may call themselves: Java Runtime, Runtime Environment, Runtime, JRE, Java Virtual Machine, Virtual Machine, Java VM, JVM, VM, J2RE, J2SE. Get the latest version from Java.com. They will usually attempt to foist some garbage like the Ask toolbar, Yahoo toolbar or McAfee Security Scan on you as part of the download. Just uncheck the garbage before the download (or install) starts. If you use a 64-bit browser and want the 64-bit version of Java you need to use it to visit java.com. Due to multiple security problems with Java we are now recommending that it not be installed unless you absolutely know you need it. If that is the case then you should go in to Control panels, Java, Security and set the slider to the highest level. Also make sure you have the latest versions of any adobe.com products you use like Shockwave, Flash or Acrobat. Whether you use adobe reader, acrobat or fox-it to read pdf files you need to disable Javascript in the program. There is an exploit out there now that can use it to get on your PC. For Adobe Reader: Start, All Programs, Adobe Reader, Edit, Preferences, Click on Javascript in the left column and uncheck Enable Acrobat Javascript. OK Close program. It's the same for Foxit reader except you uncheck Enable Javascript Actions.

You should have the latest version of Java and ONLY THE LATEST VERSION OF JAVA. If you have any older versions you should uninstall them. Use this link to find out which version you have. If it is the current version, then you should be good to go. If it does not work for buying stamps, them you'll have to work it out with that web site.

Thank you so much. I upgraded my computer but will have to contact the APS to find out why it is not working.

Could be possible that for some reason java script is not enabled in the browser.

How do I enable JavaScript in my browser
Google Chrome (15.0)
Click the spanner icon on the browser toolbar. Select Options.
Click the Under the Hood tab.
Click Content Settings in the 'Privacy section.'
Select Allow all sites to run JavaScript in the 'JavaScript' section.

Mozilla Firefox (8.0)

Select Tools from the top menu.
Choose Options.
Choose Content from the top navigation.
Select the checkbox next to Enable JavaScript and click OK.

Internet Explorer (9.0)
Select Tools from the top menu.
Choose Internet Options.
Click on the Security tab.
Click on Custom Level.
Scroll down until you see the section labeled 'Scripting.'
Under 'Active Scripting,' select Enable and click OK.

Because I have XP I cannot get IE 9.0 only 8.0. Like I said I have to contact the stamp people to see what is going on now. Thank you all for your help Hope they can help me now.

PS, my Javascript is now updated to 29

You can try this for IE8.

Open Internet Explorer and try this:

Tools > internet options > security > custom level...

Find "Active Scripting"

then check enable.

Note IE 8 Has a history of java script problems.

Hmmm.
Slightly OT, but I just tried Zep's Test Java link, and it said "no Java detected". Not listed in my programs, either.

Do I need it?
