I use this Firefox add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-downl-10137/?src=search That's just the one I stumbled on and suits my limited needs, so I stick with it, there may be better for all I know. The reason I wasn't quick to mention it is that, if I remember correctly, it tried to tempt/trick me into upgrading to an "ad-supported" version when I first installed it, and maybe even every time it updates. I don't really remember, but I got the feeling it was baiting me into installing something I didn't want, and I didn't really like that. The regular version works great for what I use it for though. I can download the video as an "flv" or "mp4" in any bitrate it's available as. As for the higher bitrate audio that they want me to upgrade to receive, I don't need that anyway. I can always strip the audio out of the video if I need it. :)

Well, actually it looks like chuggerguy is correct. I would never have thought the sound would be coming from my cell phone. Two grandkids, 8 and 9, were here for a few days. I let them play games on my computer. I have an idea they have played around with my cell phone, too, which was plugged in on my husband's desk nearby. It is an I-phone 4- about 2 years old. I hope the sound doesn't mean something is going wrong with it. Owbist, the number on the front of the computer is SR1230NX. Belarc shows many numbers, the most likely, I think is CNH4360SQ1. My eyes are not good enough to see the label on the back. Belarc shows 512 usable memory- Slot A0 is empty. Slot A1 has 512 MB. Snidely, I have a Win 7 but I really like this XP. It might be easier to just give up the XP but I would still like to do something about the slowness.

You might want to read down the page and note that you should run the flash unistaller before installing .. which may mean you will need to go back and reistall flash for your mozilla too. do not panic every thing will ask you that it is just the fail safe to make sure you did not click something accidentally. If it is a program you no longer use or need then go ahead and remove it. YOU must remove it totally you do not want bits and pieces left behind any more than it already does because that can cause conflicts and problems. which is why some programs have additional specific removal tools built for them. Such as McAfee and Norton, for those you do the regular add remove programs then from their website get and use their specific removal tool to get the bits and pieces then you still have to go through and delete some of the left behind folders. but for most ordinary programs add remove does a good job. If you do not know what it is then don't delete it with out doing some serious googling on it to see what it is. If you know what it is and don't use it anymore then just do it. And remember to empty that recycle bin. It will give you room back on your hard drive and depending on how crowded your hd is that could be beneficial, it may or may not speed up your pc. Things that help there would be looking in your startup menu and seeing exactly what is starting up when the computer boots, many times there are things in there that do not have to start up at bootup. but that is a place you definitely need to do some research on what each of the .exe listed there controls. The thing that will speed up your pc most is adding RAM memory if you can and since it is pretty cheap and easy to do it is the best way to breathe new life in to the pc. AND make sure you open the side of the pc(disconnected from power) and clean out those dust bunnies on a regular basis. PS in add remove do NOT remove any of the MS hotfixes or updates.
