WOT warning on freewebpage.org...hmmmm

A GW member posted a link to their trade list which is on their personal web page. While I don't usually go off the GW site to bother looking at anyone's list, I did click on this one. I got a "WOT Warning: This site has a poor reputation", so didn't go any farther with it.

In doing a Google search on freewebpage.org (which showed in the URL when I got the warning), I see that the search results show all sites with freewebpage.org in their address have a RED WOT warning.

Do you ignore WOT warnings? Always? Sometimes? Never?

I'm wondering if I should mention anything to the member about the site and the WOT warning I got.

I clicked on that link you provided and then on where the link says my member page and did not get any red WOT warnings.

When I see the red wot warnings what I do is click on that warning where it says you can check their rating page, and see why they got rated that way also many times people will write comments saying why they rated it that way.

Raven, I expect you just clicked on the link to their (GW) member page, right?

When I see the red wot warnings what I do is click on that warning where it says you can check their rating page, and see why they got rated that way also many times people will write comments saying why they rated it that way.
Without doing any clicking the warning page that displays says the
Trustworthiness is unsatisfactory
Vendor reliability, Privacy, and Child Safety all show as POOR.

Thank you for this note, Raven. I use the same 3 you mentioned as well as a few others (colorful tabs, multirow bookmarks). This is really good to know. I love Personas and am very disappointed that it isn't compatible with the multirow bookmarks...my screen jumps when I use them both.

secunia mostly focuses on security related updates I would not expect it to show you that things like belarc had an update or ccleaner etc. For that adobe update I would just go right to the adobe reader program on the pc open the program and hit the update button in the program and let it look for the update. I personally only use the secunia online scan so I can not tell you what the installed version does. Right now there are about a dozen or so of these update scanners that I have seen pop up, I have no idea if they are good or safe or not. I am always very cautious with programs like that and especially one like you encountered that did a scan on your pc with out express consent from you that is sketchy behavior. Just because the wot scores are good is not necessarily an indicator, if the program is very new the website possibly has not been up long enough to have ratings. Secunia is an antivirus company a security company that has been around a long time, that is why I trust the online scanner there. We use and recommend it on the help forums I am on all the time. It is totally up to you what you want to use. By now I think everyone should know that if there are adobe updates do them asap, if there are java updates so them asap, if there are flash updates do them asap, those should be known since we have said over and over some of the worst infections right now are coming through those so keep them updated. You can also subscribe to one of the many help forums that provide all the info on what updates are being issued on what date. and to add to that please be a good WOT member and if you find a bad site do your part and add your votes and comments on why it is bad. It is dependent on the community to do their part in informing all of us. If you hear of bad sites here or someplace else you can go to your wot page and enter the url for that site to see the Wot ratings and comments, there you can add your own comments and if you hit the edit your ratings you can add your ratings also, it is very important to help spread the word.

Writersblock, I think I'm fine on that score. If the malware is introduced by a beefy Mr.Clean-like graphic, then I've been introduced to it. I got lots of solicitations for it recently and went as far as clicking on the 'learn more' button that took me to a website. I decided I wouldn't buy. My freeze-up problems may be related to something else entirely, which might be solvable by owning newer, beefier computer parts. First of all I need to replace the missing A on my keyboard. Plays hob with touchtyping.

ah ok that did trigger a red wot page, this is the scorecard page for that site

there are no comments unfortunately, I wish everyone would use the comments area to let people know why they got those ratings, I always leave a comment when I do one.

It could be that those domains are linked to some not so reputable companies or ads. Now the score card page for the main domain does have comments

free web pages ... an ideal spot for some young hackers to load with virus or exploits and tricks .... doesnt mean every web page there is compromised. Probably safe to visit the seed lady's page. Wot should not assume the whole domain is bad.
