Virus has taken over my computer

This virus is like nothing other. I can't link to antivirus sites. On certain topics I search for it will send me to advertisement links. Safe mode doesn't work. I can't change the startup programs list because I'm not an administrator it says. Antivirus programs I actually manage to download won't run when I click on them. Help!!!

Dont you have an up to date antivirus on your machine now?
With all the free ones out there, there's no need not to be running one

I am assuming you are reporting here using another computer? If so and you have an external drive or thumb drive download Superantispyware and install it. Be sure to get the free version. Then go here to download the latest definitions dated December 2nd.

Go here for Malwarebytes and here for the latest updates.

Then myself I would remove the internet cable and run both of those programs.

As Gene noted, you surely have an anti virus program on the computer? Too many bad guys and too many computers not well protected these days.

FIRST!!!! ... find out if its an annual ... if so.. wont it die by itself.. w/o chems very soon??? .. since your first frost up there..is probably inside 2 weeks???? if so.. once frosted.. the roots will let go.. and you can clean it up easier .... you might also want to research whether it has any value as a green manure.. and just turn it into the soil .... second.. if its been there all season.. you have probably accumulated a couple trillion seeds... it will be worse next year .. figure out how to mulch your garden .. as it is probably one of those surface seeds that needs sunlight to germinate ... so.. if you bury it under a mulch.. it wont sprout ... ken This post was edited by ken_adrian on Mon, Sep 30, 13 at 7:21

Even a female Ruby Throat can guard 3 feeders. If you only have 2-3 birds, then one aggressive bird might be able to keep them all away from the feeders. I try to put at least 4 feeders up when the first birds come as to make it difficult for one bird to keep the others away. Those feeders are usually in a 40 foot area. Now when the first Rubys arrive, one birds will run himself crazy chasing all the other birds; but the birds just keep coming and he gives up eventually. I only know RTs, but some variation of this should work. Might have to spread the feeders out.

Sounds like nutgrass. As you've discovered, it's very persistent because of the small bulbs on its root tips. You can win if you remove the green growth before the plant develops 4 leaves, then repeat as needed until the bulblets are starved. In other words, you have a new hobby.

"Glechoma hederacea" is known variously as Creeping Charlie, Ground Ivy, Gill over the ground, Hedgemaids, Alehoof, and &*^%?! This member of the mint family grows in many soils but does best in moist, acidic, infertile soils, so the first step in control is a good soil test and then correcting any problems found. gardenguy we are seeing it alot! but to help you I need you to head over to a security help forum, there we can have you run the proper programs and have your pc get back to where you can run things again. Please go to this link and register then post a thread in the area I have linked to, in the thread tell everything you said here. Give us info on your system also. We can get you cleaned up.

this particular infection which is definitely what it sounds like he has, blocks your antivirus program so it does not matter if he has one or not he can not use it and it will not allow you to go to an antivirus site and get one.(there are several that will disable your onboard AV however) It blocks most known addresses for security programs. Some variants have shown to turn off system restore and not make safe mode available. With out the use of specific written scripts for it there is not much that a regular person can do. Which is why the security help forums are so important for these type situations, they work hand in hand with program writers to get the newest and latest programs to try to clean these darn things out. Unfortunately many people have no clue help is out there. One of the reasons we all try to cover so many forums so we can direct them to help. To bad we can not help them all.

to give y'all an idea of these type infections Corrine passed this on to me, look at this link and follow down to the list of sites this kind of thing blocks and you begin to get an idea of why you can not go anywhere for help, plus the pay load on this thing is evil, including rootkits and various other nasty stuff.

If you notice they even block them from getting to many of the help forums such as castlecops, majorgeeks, gladiator, aumha,etc. Luckily landzdown is not blocked....yet!

Pretty bad stuff. Just wondering only.... do you have a clue how you got infected? Email? Surfing? etc?
